For want of Munny...
(2012-10-08 - 2012-10-08)
... friendly people are met and leads are found.
Sora
So Sora is sitting at a table outside a cafetaria somewhere here, having just finished scarfing down a huge breakfast and now comes a problematic part, he's shown the bill and he gulps. "I... uh. I don't have that much munny, sorry." He looks down, and if he had ears they would probably droop. He looks like he just did a terrible, and to the local owner, he probably did.

But how was Sora supposed to know eating that much would cost that much munny? Not like he ever had to worry about things like that before. "Uh. Can I maybe ..." Wide eyes now, he's trying to figure out a way to fix this dramatic problem and failing to. Of course he's been speaking like overly loud so someone nearby might just have overheard.
Avira Meanwhile, mere feet away from the outdoor seating to this small cafeteria...

...seemingly unprovoked, the darkness starts to squirm and thrash. Starting small at first, it quickly grows to the size of a man. Surely from this darkness, a new Heartless is about to spawn and wreak mischief on Traverse Town yet again. No doubt it turns a few nervous heads-heartless ruin everything! Fortunately today, there will be a small reprieve, for from the darkness stumbles a human. She looks confused at first, but as she looks around, her eyes widen. "....aha!"

As the darkness fades behind her, she sits down, cross-legged on the ground, and starts pulling a grand mess of papers out of a pouch strapped to one of her belts. A pen follows, "Soooo that one goes to traverse toooown..." she drawls, scribbling on one of the papers, then shuffling through to the others.

Nearby, she's in full hearing distance of Sora's little dilemma. She doesn't look up at first, not when he admits to not having enough money, but as he continues to stumble about, trying to negotiate a way to get out of this situation, Avira looks up.

A hand goes into another one of the pouches at her side and the jingle of coins can be heard. Low on cash herself lately, she /would/ be better off minding her own business, but... "...hey kid." she calls out from her seat. "How much do you need?"
Deidra Deidra has taken to comming to eat in this strange town, simply because of one major thing. She wasn't the strangest thing here, thus the Gargoyle could get some food in peace. Rather than having to steal it or rely on a human ally to handle the buying of such. So here she was wings drapped about her body like a cloak and she's eating some cafe fair or another while going over some papers from her job. The young boy does get a look from the creature of the night for a moment and she pauses she's about to say something when Avira offers some help. "Hummm new in town I take it, human?"
Merilan Yursalin "Muu... where am I going to find a story for today?"

Merilan is hovering over the skies of District 1, with a somewhat concerned look on her face; she stops on by to sit down on the cafeteria's roof, busy jotting down notes in her notebook. It's rather true that the stories have sort of shored up, despite the Heartless attacks getting more and more rapid.

Beside her are her Tiny Espers - the Yarhi - Traya and Lemy; currently, they're busy holding up a pair of binoculars which, to them, have viewing lenses the size of their faces. They can see stars! XD!

"Mumu? Isn't that Avira...?" Merilan asks to herself, as she descends down gently. She looks towards the spiky-haired boy, as well.

"Good evening! It's your world-crossing journalist, Merilan!" Her face is full of cheer.
Sora
Oh no. Now he's unable to pay for his meal /and/ the center of attention. Now Sora doesn't mind being the center, but he does when he's in trouble! Whoops. He looks up to Avira and offers a cheesy grin, scratching the back of his head nervously. "Uh. If I pay all I got..." He empties his munnybag, "There's about fifteen hundred munny left to pay?"

Someone had... a /huge/ breakfast, apparently. He seems embarrased and nervous, though he's not really making a problem out of it. "I could use a bit extra if you can spare some? No pressure, I'll figure something out if you can't..."
Avira If Avira had a drink right now, she'd be spitting it all over the place. Instead, she drops her little money bag straight into her lap. "H..holy cow, how much did you EAT?" Shaking off the surprise, she stands and takes her bag in one hand, letting in rest in her palm, feeling the weight of the coins within. "All I've got on me is a thousand munny. So uh..."

She hesitates a little, likely considering how much of a burden it might be to walk around broke for a few days. There were ways to deal with that, at least. Like walking everywhere. "Here. This should help at least." The bag is dropped noisily onto the table in front of Sora. "You'll have a few less dishes to wash?"

Sloooowly she turns to look at the approaching gargoyle, which actually marks the first time she's seen one before. Avira's trying not to stare. She really is, but she can't help it. Even when Merilan makes her appearance.
Merilan Yursalin "Oh, hello, Deidra!" Merilan expresses warmly as she turns to the Gargoyle, nodding her head to her with a tiny wave.

The chibi Esper girls float on down, their expressions going D8! at the note of the 1,500-munny breakfast course. Then, they pause to actually think about what a 1,500-munny breakfast course would actually entail, before they start drooling and poutingly look to their summoner, stomaches going 'gruuuuu'.

"Oh, umm... goodness..." Merilan muses, though when Avira drops the first 1,000, she nods in turn to exclaim, "That's okay! I'll just pay the rest." She chips in her five-hundred in a little blue pouch on the table. "Now that's all settled!"
Deidra Deidra pauses sizing up the boy for a moment and stares, he was eating like one of her own kind and then some. Well it's true what they say about young people who are growing. They eat like black holes. She tilts her head a little bit. She thinks for a moment, she really shouldn't but the kids just there's something about it. "I can spare you 200 but that's about it." One of her taloned hands vanishes under her wings and puts some of the cash on the table. She then looks over at Avira for a moment she's used to getting looked at by people. She makes the beast of it. "Hello there I'm Deidra and you two are?"

Wait Reporter it seems Merilan is here now too it seems others have enough so her offer might not be needed but hey it's the thought that counts. "Hey Merilan, any good scoops today?"
Sora
There's a sigh of relief when the sudden crowd all chips in to pay for Sora's massive meal. He's not sure what to do with the leftover two hundred munny. He can't pick it up for himself, that'd be rude, and he can't offer it as a tip either, that'd also be rude. So he just leaves it there for later worry. He'll figure something out.

"I don't normally eat this much, but I felt like I hadn't had anything to eat in ages. Might be true, too, I don't know. One moment I'm fighting hordes of these 'heartless' and the next I'm in some alleyway and a talking, armoured rat stands on top of me. Anyway, I'm Sora."
Avira The thought suddenly occurs to Avira that Sora needed an extra 1,500 to pay, so this breakfast must've cost even more than that. Maybe this kid came out of hibernation? Or was hitting his first bout of puberty? Both likely explanations for consuming that much food. "Oh, whew." At least the mysterious creature of the night and Merilan were putting in for the remaining amount she couldn't cover.

"Oh, hey Merilan." At last, Avira takes noticed of the winged woman she's run into on several an occasion.

"The name's Avira." she greets, giving a strange little two-fingered salute. "-one second." She turns away and heads over to her discarded pile of paper and starts gathering them up off the ground. Heading back over to the table, she dumps the papers down and pulls out her pen again. "Now...Sora, this alleyway, was it in this city? Sounds like you went through one of those little portals. Not sure if they're permanent or not but I've been marking them just in case. Errrr...hold on, lemme get my Traverse Town map." Her papers don't seem all that organized yet it takes her only seconds to find the right map.
Merilan Yursalin "Mumu... no, all I've got to write about are the weird crinkle potato things that they do in Manhattan," Merilan admits with a slight slump. "Maybe I should travel a bit further out... it gets a bit dangerous on my own, though."

Merilan gives a nod back towards Avira. She does blink a bit when Sora offers his name, however. She's heard of that name before... where was it...

Poit, poit. She blinks in her thought, even as her Yarhi hover around her and start digging into the lunchbox in her pack to have an early meal. Kya! XD

"Oh!" Merilan exclaims, as she draws one of her periodicals to peer through it. "That's right!"

She peers down towards Sora's foot. Those are -huge- shoes! That's got to be him!

"You're Riku's friend, aren't you?"
Deidra Deidra pauses at the mention of the heartless and grimaces a little bit "I run into those things before, they leak into town sometimes. Or even my home world they started hunting people." She looks to Avir smiles abit, oh look she's got fangs but doesn't seem to think too much about it.

"It does prehaps we can help you find your way home. I'm also on a job to map the portals as well so being able to expand on it's always good."

She swings her head back for a moment pausing at the mention of Riku. "Huh? A friend of Riku? I know him myself he's an interesting guy." Little grim but a good guy.
Sora
"Uh it was just some a--" And then people mention Riku and it seems Avira's question has been entirely forgotten by a suddenly overenthusiastic Sora. "You guys know where Riku is hanging out?!" He blurts this out far louder than he should be, surprised but cheerful. "I mean I heard rumours someone who might've been him might be hanging out in some place called Fluorgis..."

"But Ser Faruja couldn't tell me for sure it was Riku. Is he in Fluorgis?" If there was any doubt before that Sora is Riku's friend, there probably isn't anymore. "Is he okay? Last I saw him was when the heartless overran home. I didn't even get to show him this weird but neat thing I somehow got." And that's when Sora manifests his keyblade, probably without meaning to because he looks slightly shocked when he looks at it. "Uh. That's the neat thing."
Avira Dangit you guys! "Just some-" Though all this talk of Riku does remind Avira of something. Sora did look familiar to her for some reason and now she remembered exactly why. Riku's sketch. "..that's /right/, that silver-haired kid was looking for you and that girl. Well, the last I saw him was in Costa Del Sol but he might've moved on from there..." Especially if he followed Ivo.

Avira digs through the pile and pulls out another map. This one looks a lot more detailed than the others...mostly because she lives around there. She points at Costa Del Sol marked on her crude map, then traces a path through several deserts to Fluorgis. "Here. From here there's a bunch of airships you can board. Uh..."

She looks over at the Keyblade, one eyebrow raised. "A giant key?"
Deidra Deidra says "Humm can't say I met this Ser Faruka I must admit." She notes to Sora before looking back to Avira for a mment nodding a little bit. "I met him in Manhattan when things started to get really strange. Knight's Princess and wanderes just falling out of the air in Central park. It was the darnest thing..." She pauses looking at the keyblard there's clearly something magic about it as she looks it over. "That's a strange weapon..."
Merilan Yursalin "Oh, ummm..."

A pause, as Merilan goes to think about it. She was, perhaps, excited in turn that someone she's listed as missing in her newspaper has turned up, but... where does that boy hang out? She's seen him in Manhattan, in Traverse, in... Hawaii...

"He does wander around quite a bit. But, that's because he's really concerned with finding you!" Merilan expresses in turn. "So if you can tell me where you intend to be, and if I see him, then..." She nods in turn to Avira's explanation. Perhaps, if she knows more about Riku's went, that'd also be a pretty good lead for the boy.

There's a little 'waah!' of surprise when the keyblade suddenly blinks into reality like it's some kind of filthy flash-stepper. "Goodness, what is that? It's... it's the biggest key I've ever seen!"

A pause.

Behind her, Lemy is trying to unlock Traya by bonking her over the head with a house key. It isn't exactly going well.

"Do you live in a giant house, Sora? The door must be very big if you need a key that size."
Sora
"It's... uh. I know it looks like a key, but I think it's just a weapon?" Yup, nobody has explained to Sora yet what a keyblade actually /does./ He's figured out it's a weapon, at least, but the fact it looks like a key... just... hadn't made him realize it might be more than weapon. "And no, I don't live in a giant house."

"Anyway if you can tell Riku I'm fine if you run into him before I do, that'd be neat. Don't tell him about this, uhh. I guess I'll call it a keyblade? I want to surprise him with it. Feel free to tell him I got a surprise?" Sora makes that goofy grin again, scratching the back of his head. "And while you're at it, keep an eye out for Kairi? If Riku made it, surely Kairi must have, too!"
Deidra Deidra pauses for a moment and reaches uner her wings and into some likely unseen pocket within. She pulls out a business card that reads Twilight Detective Agency problems fixed and people found on the card. It's also got an Address in place called Manhattan and a phone number.

"Humm seems you have another friend to find like many heres here I'm with the Twilight Detective Agency if you need help I'm sure something can be done about it. So Kairi? What does she look like?" the comment about the huge house almost gets a laugh out of the Gargyole cept for Merilan is dead serious about it.
Avira "Probability is high I will." Avira says, scooping up her various papers and rolling them back up, "-will run into him again, at least. I'll let him know you're alive. He's looking for you and Kairi too, you know." Flipping the clasps on her pouch closed, she makes a soft concerned noise, "I've been seeing a lot of this lately. People looking for missing friends."

A 'keyblade' he calls it. Avira looks a little skeptical. It didn't look sharp. "...and here I thought my weapon was unusual."

As she says this, she reaches behind her at the small of her back to grasp something large and wrapped in white strips of cloth. Pulling the object free, she sets it down lengthwise against the table, pulling her hand away. The object's obviously meant to be a sword of some kind with three sets of serrated edges and a triangle-cylinder sort of cross section shape. At the very end is a sharpened point and anyone with a lick of anatomy knowledge might find the piece similar to a spinal column.

Avira leaves it there, her attention immediately drawn elsewhere. "...Twilight Detective Agency? So you work for Mercade?"
Merilan Yursalin Merilan seems a little dejected that Sora does not, in fact, live in a giant house.

I mean, how awesome would that be? You'd need a Rube Goldberg contraption just to get wheelied up to the kitchen in the morning.

"Hmm... yes, yes! The detective agency is a great way to do it... I've also been writing a paper--" And promptly hands a copy of Traverse Maniacs over, on the table. "--and it's got a section of missing people and who is looking for them in turn as well."

She tilts her head in turn and 'hmms', before suggesting, "If it's a key that big, and you don't live in a giant house, then maybe there's a giant treasure box it locks up somewhere?"
Sora
Now /that/ is a suggestion that sounds reasonable to Sora's ears, "Well there might be. I'll keep on the lookout for giant treasure boxes, maybe there's one this'll open up." The idea speaks wonders to him, eyes dreamy. "How many gifts could I buy with the treasure such a huge treasure box would contain..." Is he dreaming about buying people gifts? Seems like.

"And I know it seems like a weird weapon, but. Uh. It works really well against heartless? I mean I also know a few things about magic so that works well. But if it hadn't been for this thing suddenly appearing?" His goofy demeanor suddenly turns grim, "I don't know if I'd have made it. The islands were crawling with heartless, and one of them was /huge./ If that one had a house it would probably have a key this big. I beat him up, though. He attacked me."
Avira Avira's ears seem specially turned to 'huge treasure box', being broke as she was at the moment. Money wasn't easy for her to keep in stock right now either-it seemed like every other moment she had to buy something! "..if you find a huge treasure chest, you should share where." the huntress suggests.

She quickly takes back her own weapon, lest the owners of the restaurant start getting the wrong idea upon seeing it. The Spine's slipped back into the sheath on Avira's back with a well-practiced motion. As Sora explains where he got that weapon, Avira looks interested. "How strange. And /fortunate/."

Merilan takes out her latest copy of Transvese Maniacs and starts to snicker a little, "Hey...about that latest issue. That taxi thing...uh..." Avira trails off for a moment, "...if I could get a picture of me conquering a taxi, would you publish it?"
Deidra Deidra says "I'm still getting over the fact on some worlds people do leave stuff like that lying around. Gifts? Interesting way to think about speanding treasure hunting spoils." She tilts her head again and nods at the mention of magic. "I'm a bit of a mage my self it's fairly rare on my world far as I can tell as for working really well on Heartless? you don't say. I'll have to keep it in mind. There's sadly no shortage of them here.

"Yes I work for him he's been a good employer and a friend. Not many would not run away screaming or get violent towards one of my kind let alone hiring someone like me."
Merilan Yursalin Merilan cups her hands together, looking rather sympathetic. "Ah, something similar happened to me when my home was attacked too. The Heartless jumped all over me." A pause. "Well, I wasn't so fortunate, I guess... nothing like a giant key like that came to help me out." A faint little laugh, as she dismisses that thought.

A pause, as Merilan looks towards Avira. "Oh, um... maybe?" she says, a bit uncertainly. "That just sounds a bit violent... I guess..."

Behind her, Lemy and Traya have... somehow piled into a little boxcar, wearing goggles, and are driving off the table Sora was eating at. They reach the end of the table... and fall off, their tiny car exploding. Uguu DX.
Sora
Well Sora was about to respond to something but then Lemy and Traya fall off the table and he rushes to catch them, but is just a moment too late and bites exploding miniature car to the face, but not before dropping the keyblade on the table. He gets back up with a comically blacked out face. "Ow."

He sits back down in a chair, the cafe's owner apparently having taken all the money that was put on there, taking the two hundred munny extra as a tip. "Are those two always like that?" Sora asks, glancing yet again to Lemy and Traya. He seems amused by their antics, at least.
Avira Avira scratches the back of her head, "Welll it is kind of what hunters do..." Maybe the joke would be lost on this one. If she gets the chance, though, she'll definitely give it a shot. Maybe get published?

Interest shifts to Deidra completely and her talk about the Twilight Detective Agency. "Well yeah, I've been to that world, they have nothin' but humans there. I bet they get all shell-shocked crazy when they see someone from another race like you. It's good to hear that Mercade's up for hiring people from outside of his world."
Merilan Yursalin "Oh..." Merilan kneels down next to Sora and helps him up, along with her Tiny Espers, who soot-facedly cough and float back up to her side, looking terribly MISS TROOOON~ levels of apologetic. "Yes, they're very playful. A bit too much, sometimes. And they never stop eating! Oh, Lemy, Traya, introduce yourselves."

Despite the fact that she just, well, did. Which is all the better, because they can't talk anyway, though they pirouette themselves back to full cleanliness, bowing left and right.

She hands Sora a napkin to clean his face with, and climbs back up to fuss with her Tiny Espers in turn. "Stay out of trouble, now!" She hands them both a cookie, and they adorably start going omnomnom and seem to just forget about everything else.

She looks back to Avira for a moment longer, before laughing a bit nervously. "I--I guess... I was more writing about it so that people know what to look out for."
Deidra Deidra grimaces "Humans are not the only native species to the planet, my kind is rare, very rare. I only seen single other of my kind in recent memory and it was an accident we ran into eachother." She knows there's another clan in Manhattan but hasn't had the courage to try to find them at least yet. "They very much do even when I aim to help. I lived in the shadows untill I ran into Mercade to be honest." She looks at merilan for a moment she eyes the two espers and nods "I think they are from my experiance."
Sora
"They're cute." Sora has that cheesy grin on his face again, scratches the back of his head and looks up. "Well I guess I should be going. I'm gonna have to look around for Kairi and find a way to make munny so I can eat." He turns around to walk away, leaving that huge key on the table as he seems to have entirely forgotten about it.

And he liked it so much it earlier, too. Or at least wanted to show it off to Riku when they met again. Has he really forgotten already? He's not entirely gone yet, though, so there's still time to call him back or something like that. Right?
Avira "...whaaaat.." Avira says quietly. "Really? There are people like you there...? But..."

The woman looks a little shaken now and rubs her face. "I...I should go-" she quickly excuses herself, trying to pull out of that odd spaced-out place her mind seems to be drifting off to, "Uh, sorry. Anyway if I see your friends-hey, uh, Sora, don't forget you keyblade!"

At that point it hits her-Sora's just as new at this stuff as she is. Though to her credit, she never left her weapon behind anywhere.
Merilan Yursalin "Oh... don't worry, okay? Riku told me about Kairi as well and that's also in the paper," Merilan reaffirms, before she picks up the Yarhi both and nods as everyone makes plans to leave. "I should also get back to finding something to write about!"

The Aegyl rises up to the skies again, at that, waving towards the trio, and is then gone on a trail of black feathers.
Sora
Avira calls out that Sora has forgotten his keyblade, and he turns around to move back so he can pick it up, but as he turns the keyblade disappears from the table and appears in his hand. "Huh, neat." Seems Sora didn't expect that, but he does seem to think it's useful. Maybe even /cool./ "Thanks for reminding me, Avira, right?" Goofy grin and hand to the back of head again. "Well I'm really going now." And off he goes, not fast enough to miss any remarks, but he's unlikely to be responding to any of them.
