Shard Seekers Shenanigans
(2012-10-07 - 2012-10-07)
About after an hour of the mess with the first meeting, the team pulled through together at the end. Now, the group gather at the bar and relax. Antics ware to be had.
Reize Seatlan It's been a little while since the encounter and the mess earlier. However, things had settled down for the gathering. The day worked out for the most part, but nevertheless...
It's time for a bit of celebration and reunion.
Although Shiki would not agree to the idea(and may likely headlock Reize for it), the tavern is chosen. Why? Well, food is there, nd there are generally postings for the quest boards.
It's how Reize got his first job.
The place is somewhat crowded with other travelers, all of them chatting amongst themselves. A table was set for the Shard Seekers. It's a bit of big table reserved, but it was enough for the group.
Now? Reize is just musing, trying to figure out what the group needs to do to get officially recognized as a clean.
Think Reize.
...
Don't mind the steam coming from his head.

Meanwhile, the barkeep is keeping an eye on Reize, making sure he doesn't DRINK this time.
Shiki Misaki Guess who else is also keeping an eye on Reize? That's right!

It's Mr. Mew, who has taken up a seat at the bar, and is camping it out to make sure if anyone even goes near a tap he will show them his /furry vengeance/.

And meanwhile Shiki, free of the burden of being the designated driver, is sat at a table with some shaved ice, looking as pleased as she can possibly be under the circumstances... and doing some Clan paperwork with her off hand, because she has decided to be responsible.
Lenn Lenn steps up towards the table, affixing one of her pouches to her belt. She looks to Reize. "You mind... if I join you?" She offers the young man a small pouch of munny, "Some profit for today. It isn't much, but... Well?" She smiles softly.
Faruja Senra Glare. Glaaaare! Mr. Mew is currently receiving Faruja's best Templar Stare (tm) as the stuffed animal guards the tap. He /will/ have his beer, damnit! For the moment, however, the Burmecian walks over to the table. Your retribution will come, Mr. Mew!

Pausing as Lenn makes her appearance, the Templar bows. "M'Lady, Lord's blessing." He offers. Should Reize give assent, he'll pull out a chair for Lenn. Glancing over to the boy, the ratling smiles. "Something on your mind, Ser Seatlan?" he asks conversationally, tail flicking as he pulls out his hip flask. Siiip.
Lily Lily's gotten better about wandering around on her own. A little! At least, that's how she can simply wander on in and look about for Reize.

Some people might question though, her approach of doing so by climbing up onto a chair to look around first! But doing that means she can easily beeline for the hairtennae! "Reeeeize!~"

This time, when she charges - it's a little slower, and not a Take Down attack. But her footsteps echo through the tavern before she arrives near Lenn and Reize with a grand smile on her face. "You're missing the sun in here."
Riku Riku appreciates the lessened light conditions of the tavern if not the noise levels. His headache has mostly gone away although it comes back in a sudden flare if he turns his head too sharply. He has steered clear of Furry Vengeance over there by the bar, instead taking a seat opposite Shiki at the table.

He watches her do paperwork for a few minutes, content to be quiet and still in the aftermath of the last hour or two. He looks in the direction of Lenn, cocking an eyebrow but then turning back to his quiet examination of the table surface and the consumption of a sandwich he ordered for himself.

He takes another bite out of it, eying Reize out of the corner of his vision and shaking his head at some internal thought.
Reize Seatlan Looking at Mr. Mew, Reize gives the cat a look of horror. Err, it looks like Mr. Mew doesn't trust Reize near the tap. Alas. This is the life for him.
Comical tears rolling alon hisees, Reize exhales a sigh.
When Lenn shows up, the boy offers her a smile, "Oiii! Thanks Lenn!" He looks at the pouch, "Uh, well, once Ivo shows up, I can present this to him and figure out what we need to do from here." He scratches his head.
He looks at the templar, "Yeah. I know Ivo has mentioned a bit about finances and things that we have to do to officially be recognized as a clan. I don't know the exact details."
No clue where Ivo is right now. But, the boy hears Lily's slow charge, he then turns his head to see Liy, "Oh! Hey Lily! Sorry about that, yeah...." He grins.
Then, he smiles towards Riku and he turns to everyone, "Oh! I'd like to introduce everyone to our newest member of the Shard Seekers, Lenn." He considers, "...There is another member, but... I haven't seen him. He said that he'd be taking care of some things for the next couple of days." Which may be good, considering Shiki is likely to kill him.
Shiki Misaki Mr. Mew considers this for a minute. He walks over to the pencil and paper, writes, hands it to the bartender. There's a small picture that looks like this:

OvO = OK

Well, that answers that question, then.

Shiki still doin' what she was doin'. She looks up from her paperwork, and says to Reize, "Yeah, I was going to ask you about the finances part. There's quite a few things on here about that I wasn't sure about."

"Nice to meet you, though, Lenn," she says, stretching out a bit for a handshake. "I'm Shiki Misaki. This is my first time meeting quite a lot of you."

Including Lily! Who breezes in like before. You know, there's something about that girl that gives Shiki a bit of a strange feeling, but she can't put her finger on it. It's better, at least, than the feeling she has for /that guy/. /Yes/.

Spoonful. "Hey Riku, what's in that sandwich anyway?"
Lenn Lenn bows, lightly as she's introduced. "Hello, there. I hope you don't mind me joining up. I'm... kind of a bit of a self-study person, usually." She extends her hand to shake Shiki's. "I'm in the same boat, I'd only ever met Reize, so far."
Faruja Senra Faruja's mind flits back to the letter he wrote. A smile sits on his muzzle, mentally crossing his fingers. "Sadly, I know precious little of such. Though...it seems the Lady here has the right idea. A few odd jobs, a bit of work...no small amount of work to be had for enterprising young adventurers. Have faith. The Lord will show you the way." A pious saying for all occasions, this rat.

The others get a nod and half-bow from the ratling, before he very simply collapses into a seat. Without his armor, it's rather silent, and the ratling looks smaller than usual. "...One of these days, I shall go on a vacation." Tired rat is tired.
Lily "My name is... Lily!" Answers the girl in white to the people looking towards Reize and her. She glances at Lenn most curiously, particularly at her chest for a few moments.

Then on to Shiki and her ridiculous hat, which gets a smile. "So many people... always so many when we meet to talk..."
Riku Riku takes another bite of his sandwich to keep from asking the question that has been sizzling in the back of his mind right alongside his headache. He has a sinking suspicion however that he wasn't going to like the answer to that question on the basis that it will probably defy the rules of common sense.

Riku snorts faintly to himself, his attention drawn to Shiki. He pauses, expression becoming spectulative as he had not really considered the sandwich in fine detail before her question. He had been famished when they reached the tavern and perhaps foolishly, he had not been very picky and/or specific. Riku raises a hand in greeting to Lenn and Faruja, then replies to Shiki.

"A vegetable, a meat of some kind and some cheese." he peers between the layers experimentally. "Probably some sort of ham." Meat can be a tricky business in a land full of animal folks.
Ivo Galvan Taverns are typically some of Ivo's favorite haunts: what they lack in inherent aesthetic appeal they make up for in opportunities for mingling. But as he steps through the threshold of this one, ducking slightly as he moves through the door toward the main seating area, the dark-haired swordsman looks a little morose, gaze distant and thoughtful.

"Not quite as anticipated," he mumbles to himself.

But the sight of his friends causes his expression to soften, his lips quirking up and eyes warming as he sees Reize practically sweating with the Pooh-like exertion of logistical planning, Lily cheerful as ever, Shiki reliable and working away. Faruja looks tired but not discontent, and even Riku the knight-errant finds himself regarding with gratitude; even if Ivo can't ever trust Riku completely, the kid has definitely earned his respect.

Lenn earns a curious glance and nod as the now-smiling Seeker approaches his friends, casually lifting a gloved hand in salute and then patting Lily on the shoulder fondly. "I'm back. Thanks for helping to take care of the paperwork, Shiki," he says, voice calm and relaxed despite his previously troubled expression. "It may have to wait a little bit, though. I have some... well, some good news and some bad news." He looks back at Lenn. "Have we made another charming new friend? I'm Ivo. Nice to meet you."

"The good news," he says, glancing over to Reize, "is that I've befriended some inventors from a lost city called Karnak who've ended up here, and they're very interested in the shard-seeking device I've proposed. Not only have they offered to help me design it as soon as we earn Fire Crystal clearance, but they've offered an old workshop that's currently unoccupied to use as our headquarters." His smile broadens. "It... needs a little fixing up, but it has two small dormitories attached. I'm doing a little work on the side for them in return. Nothing big."

"The bad news," he continues, "is that Fluorgis's government is more strictly regulating Clan formation now due to the influx of-- well, it's complicated." He shrugs. "They want to protect the Crystal and make sure the Clans work in service of the people, and aren't just roving mercenary bands. So the selection process is more rigorous... and the registration fee is higher."

He pauses.

"Much higher."
Lenn Lenn nods to Ivo. "A pleasure." She then sobers, hmm'ing. "How much higher are we looking at?" She tries doing some math. It's not looking good.
Shiki Misaki "Sounds like a common thread," Shiki replies to Lenn.

My hat is not ridiculous Lily, it's a fashion statement /and/ it gives me +5 ATK. So /there/. HUH. Wait why am I mentally acting so mean towards her? Uhhh, that's weird.

"I wonder if they do anything with noodles here..." Shiki says, sticking her spoon into the shaved ice again. "Ramen Don's was the best place to get them, but I don't even know if ramen is a thing outside of Japan. Any of you guys ever heard of it?"

And that's when Ivo delivers the bad news. Shiki's eyebrows go up, then a feeling in her stomach goes down. She sinks a bit in her chair. "Mada mada..."

...you've got me doing it. "At least we've got a place to bunk. Good thing, since we're pretty far from Traverse City by now..."

I'll have to go looking for fabric and supplies, she thinks.
Reize Seatlan Reize brightens towards the group, "Knight's Vow #2: Let's work together for a peaceful world. I believe that we can do it." He considers, "One shard at a time."
His attenton falls towards Faruja, nodding. "That is a good point. He'll show us the way." While Reize isn't pious as Faruja, he isn't going to dismiss friend's beliefs. Everyone need something to believe in.
The arrival of Ivo, however, brings a smile to Reize's face.
"Oooooiiii! Ivo!" The boy waves a hand his way, "Meet Lenn! She is our newest member!" THen, when Ivo starts explaining about the good news, Reize has a bright smile on his face, "Great!" He quirks a eyebrow, "Shard-seeking device? ...How will that work?"
Annnnd of course, the bad news. Reize gives a grunt for a moment, then he rubs his forehead, "...Wel..." He shows Ivo the munny made. ...Which, isn't much, "...How more do we have to go?"
Lily "Ummmmm...." Lily taps a finger against her cheek repeatedly, apparently straining in her thoughts while she looks bewilderedly between everyone. Finally she asks Ivo, "What's a fee?"
Faruja Senra "Well met M'Lady Lenn. Templar Faruja Senra, Knight-Errant of the Church. At your service." Another seated bow, and a nod towards Riku. The mention of cheese has the Burmecian perking up. Slipping out of his seat, he's off to negotiate up a sandwich of his own, distinctly lacking in rat-person meat.

A few minutes later, he's holding a sandwich that primarily consists of swiss, cheddar, and pepper jack. One might notice a slice of turkey buried somewhere in there. Nom!

Ahh, Ivo! The man's appearance causes the rat's smile to widen briefly before he goes back to chomping on sammich. Twin ears perk up, however, as he goes into the news. A red eye glances to those assembled. Frown. "Always finances." Sigh.

Reize gets a nod, earning a few brownie points with the Templar. Ahh, how idealistic. Perfect. To Ivo, the rat tilts his head. "Indeed. 'Tis a magical device of some sort?"

To Shiki, the rat rubs his chin. "An old friend of mine mentioned such a dish. A Linder creation, of course. Something about noodles, with various vegetables?"

Hmm. "Pool our talents together, and we may yet be able to pull in enough. Take the opportunities as they come."
Riku Riku turns his curiosity on Shiki, deciding not to worry about the sandwich too much. He doesn't think when he's hungry. "Shiki." he makes a gesture with his free hand, cutting a fingernail across the tabletop in a quick slash. "You said you were from the big city. Is your world one of both magic and machines? I've never seen magic like the type you used earlier. I've also.. never heard of ramen, but this may be related." It also apparently needed some sort of focus to work, which he guesses is the reason for the pins.

His questions can wait though as his attention turns to Ivo's entrance and his words. He turns in his seat, leaning on one elbow as he listens to the co-leader of the Shard Seekers talk. He's only aware of many of these concerns on the edges, since money has never been a concern for him, but the distinct lack of it isn't probably going to hold up this group for long. "Again with the vows" he mutters softly to himself, sighing with something like exasperation.

Although, between all of them, he's sure that they'll cook up something to get what they need. Speaking of which. Riku takes another bite of the sandwich. "So, ramen. Is it like Faruja said?" He doesn't really want to examine why he's got food on the brain right now.

Just like he doesn't really want to examine the last two hours or so. No. Thinking goes to bad places.
Ivo Galvan Ivo grins a little lopsidedly at both Reize's question and display of funds. "Depends on the mechanics of crystal resonance in this world," he says casually, in the same tone in which one would speak of the weather, "and the composition of the Shards themselves. It'll take some trial and error, but with some experiments, I should be able to pin down the frequency. Don't worry too much about it." You should've just said that in the beginning and spared us the exposition, Ivo. "Oh, you've already made that much? Good for you, Reize. You're a hard worker."

Horray!

"The fee's about twenty times that."

Womp womp.

"A fee is munny we have to pay the city, Lily," the knight-errant says gently to the girl, "for the right to call ourselves an official Clan. It's supposed to prove we're hard workers and committed, and helps Fluorgis operate the facilities that support us. There's also an short interview process now, but," his smile widens, "I don't think any of us will have trouble with that."

"Regardless, due to the new restrictions, there are plenty of unofficial groups of adventurers operating in this city, so as long as we can make enough to feed ourselves and keep the rest, since we've got room and board covered, we can work our way up step by step. Apparently some of these groups are even causing some trouble."

EARLIER

Ivo scratches his chin as he reads a bulletin posted upon a board warning about a strange group of children firing ice magic into the air and attacking homeless people.

NOW

"We should be wary of them."
Shiki Misaki "That's pretty much ramen, yeah. Usually you get some long wheat noodles and a broth, and various sorts of things. There was some hot competition between two Ramen joints back in Shibuya, you really either fell in with the guys who liked one store or the guys who liked the other," Shiki explains.

"Shibuya wasn't really a place for magic, though... Pins use the power of your mind, or, well, your imagination. A lot of my tricks are psychokinetic. Other than that, we have stuff like... cameras in cellphones, flash memory sticks... people are driving cars with reduced carbon footprint... the Android phone just came out... none of this probably means an-y-thing..."
Reize Seatlan "Oh! I just remembered something!" Reize notes, then he rummages into his small pouch. He manages to get a bag out. It's a heavier set of coins, which he places on the table. "Uhh, one of our new members who could not be here gave this to us for the funding of the clan." Sadly, it is still far from enough.
But every bit counts.
Nevertheless, Ivo offers the explanation about the function of the device. Reize scratches his head, "...Thanks! It----" The fee is twenty times that. His antenna hair flops.
Interview? Reize scratches his head, "...That sounds interesting." He grins, looking towards Riku, "We'd like it if you'd join us!" He considers, a bit more subdued, "If you want, that is."
Then, something comes to his mind.
"Oh! Ivo! I have an important question! It's been bugging me for some time!"

...
...

"...What's a harem?" Pause, "....And what's a harem girl?"
Lily Munny paid to the city? Lily puzzles over this one to herself, glancing about while thinking. She barely even has a grasp on what munny is, wheat it's supposed to DO, and the most confusing: Why it does what it does. She can't pick up any kind of magic from it, so how it supposedly has the power to make people get you things is baffling her a little.

Oh well.

Lily wanders away from Reize several steps, cocking her head to listen to Shiki and... half of the words the foreigner's using indeed mean nothing to HER too. The girl in white frowns, then waves at Riku before blinking back at Reize as now HE is using an unfamiliar word...
Faruja Senra Nom nom nom. That sandwich is soon gone, and the Templar wiping crumbs from muzzle and whiskers daintily. The rat smiles as the bit of donation is plopped down. "A generous soul, no doubt." The Burmecian makes a mental note to see what funds he can scrape up. If all else fails, he can offer wyvern-rides to the kiddies as a fundraiser.

A clawed hand rubs his face, and the Burmecian turns to Shiki. "Truly, Lady Misaki, yours is a world of wonders! And yet the most mundane of /this/ world seems all the more amazing to you. Still...I would be curious as to how you gained such abilities, M'Lady, if magic seems so rare in your world."

Blink. Two ears fold back as Faruja stares at Reize. Beneath his fur, he's all aflush. Cough! Cough! Nope, he's not fielding this one.
Shiki Misaki Shiki Misaki is just sitting there, her mouth making movements like a fish. She has even dropped her spoon into her shaved ice.
Riku Riku has no idea what Shiki is talking about. Instead of asking more questions on top of questions, he takes out a black journal. He looks up at Shiki, then flips the pages and starts to write down notes. He stops when Reize asks what a harem is.

He comes to a sudden halt, looking up at Reize with the most incredulous expression. He goes back to writing, shaking his head and mumbling something under his breath that can't quite be made out.

"So." he asks Shiki experimentally. "Can anyone learn how to.. use these imagination powers, Shiki? Or is it something just for you?" When he's finished, he rises from the chair and digs into the pockets of his jacket. He takes a small black bag from the pocket, he extends them to Ivo who seems to be a much safer person to hand over finances to than the leader.

"If you'll have me." he directs to Reize while posture and attention is on Ivo.
Ivo Galvan "You're a gentleman and a scholar, Mr. Mew."

Ivo had sauntered over to the bar, his report basically complete, to reward himself for his troubles with a suitable beverage, only to find himself obstructed by a certain formidable marionette. Yet the knight-errant is a persuasive man, and he and the cat engage in a quiet and very one-sided conversation involving much gesticulation on Ivo's part and much silent glassy-eyed staring from Mr. Mew. Eventually, improbably, the stuffed cat steps to the side, briefly making an exception for the swordsman.

How did he do that!?

Stepping away looking satisfied with himself as the stuffed cat sidles back into position, Ivo blinks in surprise at Riku's offering, then smiles and extends his own hand, accepting the pouch. "That's not necessary, but it is appreciated," he says gently. "You're always welcome with us, Riku." All around pleased, Ivo takes a long, refreshing sip of his ale--

"PFFFFFTTTTT!!"

--and promptly sprays it into the air.

*cough* *coughcough* "A... excuse me?" Despite having lost a sizable portion of his hard-won beverage, he's grinning from ear to ear, eyebrows raised. "I always knew you were precocious, Reize, but this is a little much. Hmm..." With an exaggerated air of great comtemplativeness, he reaches up to stroke his chin.

Really, guys? You sure you want to leave this to him?

"Well, Reize," he begins in a tone Lily might find familiar, "when a man and a woman and a woman and a woman and a woman and a woman love each other very much," why only five?, "sometimes they decide to give each other cooties all day and night long, and that's what we call a harem."

He raises a finger, as though in admonishment.

"So be careful of harem girls, Reize. All they want to do is give you lots of cooties." Pausing thoughtfully, he then nods in approval of his own conclusion. "I might even say a harem girl is..."

Eyegleam.

"...your natural foe."
Faruja Senra A red eye peers at one Ivo Galvan. Stare. Staaaare. The Templar's brow rises, and looks to Reize. Then back to Ivo. A hand goes to his muzzle.

Snicker. Squeak squeak. "Hah hah hah hah, oh Lord in heaven...what wisdom, Ivo Galvan!" the rat laughs, falling to the floor. Thud! Cue one rat-ball while he tries to gain access to breath.
Shiki Misaki Mr. Mew and Ivo reach an accord, the specifics of which will only be known to the two of them. Needless to say, we're going to be guessing about what the heck is up with that cat for years to come.

Shiki has just gone as red as a cherry, and her attempts to eat some shaved ice to cool her face down just result in her choking on it, so she puts the spoon on the table instead and concentrates on something that's 'anything other than this' before someone inevitably asks her what her connection to this terrible, sordid story is.

"Honestly, dunno," Shiki replies to Riku and Faruja. "Before the Heartless ... you know'd... my world, I participated in something called the Reaper's Game. Ordinary pins that were like, Shibuya fashion accessories let us use all sorts of weird powers to fight the Noise, but- not even every Player can use a lot of pins. I used to just be able to use one when I started off, but I picked up on how to use others because I had to to survive..."

"I think the only way to GET pins now is trying to score them as treasure from Noise, though."
Reize Seatlan Everyone gave a pause to the boy's question. In fact, Reize can see the look of confusion and horror on everyone's face. "Buh? What's wrong?" He scratches his head. He looks rather confused. Even his antenna hair forms like a question mark.
But then, Ivo presents his answer. It involves a man, and different women--- and...
Cooties.
Everything. Everything that Ivo has mentioned in his explanation soon falls under deaf ears. Why?
Reize finds himself in a dark place, where shadows of women loom before him with claws outstretched. He takes a step back in horror, the eyes widening with fright.
...Reize is now shivering, comical tears rolling along his eyes. "Cooties..." The antenna hair flops, shivering along with the owner.
After a moment, Reize calms down, then he grumbles. "Guh... cooties, who needs it---" He looks to the group. "Anyway, I need to grab a sandwich and a handful of...---"
!!!
Unfortunately, there tends to be liquor all around....
And Reize slips.
"GUH?!"
And he is about to fall.
But he isn't going alone.
...Because Lenn is likely going to crash down with him.
Lenn Reize slips. And Lenn DOES go down with him. In fact... the blonde elf lands ATOP the young adventurer, in what would be, without any context, a rather compromising position, her laying over him, having bonked her own head. "Owww......"
Riku Riku coughs. He very abruptly tries to breathe sandwich as he starts to laugh in the midst of eating said foodstuff. He covers his mouth and rackingly coughs, the spaces inbetween choked with laughter. He all too quickly regains his composure though, pulling himself together although the coughing goes on somewhat sporadically for awhile yet.

Riku pulls a hand across his face and into his hair, putting a palm to his forehead and just shaking his head back and forth. When the coughing draws to a close, he starts writing in his journal again.

He focuses on Shiki for the time being for possibly the same reason as her and because Faruja laid out and laughing is where he'll be if he lets his face crack for a second. "This.. Noise, you fought. Are they part of the heartless?"

Different places call the same thing different names, so it's possible. And if it's possible.. he might have to go track some down and see for himself if they will work. When he hears the BONK and the slip, he watches the drama unfold while nearly biting the inside of his cheek to keep from bursting out laughing. He gets up, going over to help Lenn and Reize get to their feet. At this rate, they'll never manage it alone.
Lily What in the world is all of this cooties? With Reize falling, Ivo acting weird, Shiki choking, Lily whirling about left and right to take it all in... well to her it's as if everyone is somehow HURT instead of amused!

"I--wha--hw..."

Left, right, and all around, Lily whips about from one person to the next and dashes from person to person before--

Clunk.

She trips over a chair leg and topples. Thump.
Faruja Senra A clawed hand reaches up, and Faruja slowly pulls himself up towards his seat. He may just look slightly purple in the face. the Burmecian is looking everywhere /but/ Reize's direction, lest he start laughing again. Oh, how he needed that. Still, he was paying attention, as evidenced by the nod at Riku's question. "And what of this 'Reaper's Game'?" Get used to answering that one a lot, Shiki~

Thud. Wince. The corner of his eye catches Lenn and Reize. Sigh. "Are you both quite alright?" Is that a touch of envy in his voice?
Faruja Senra Cue wince number two. Sigh. Faruja stands, and walks over to Lily. A clawed hand is offered. "My my, everyone seems to be losing their balance today."
Shiki Misaki "OK, gimme a minute if everyone wants me to explain this," Shiki says to Faruja, putting aside her bowl because it looks like it's explanation time. "I dunno, I guess so? One of the last things I remember seeing was tons of Noise and Heartless swarming all over the city just before everything went to--"

And then she makes the legendary expression of the duck, just for you, Ivo.

"Honestly! I don't know where you'd be if I wasn't your partner, Reize Seatlan. You'd have tripped over so many Sand Rays in the first day... I don't even know if you'd have made it to Junon!"

Immediately, she shuffles across the bench to fuss at him, and help him up. "You'd better not have scuffed the knees of those pants up either..."
Ivo Galvan "Getting started early, I see!" Ivo exclaims jovially as he takes a real sip of his beer this time, clearly having the time of his life while Reize slips and falls on the damp floor, bearing the lovely elf girl down with him. "That's the spirit." Placing his off-hand on his hip, he shakes his head slowly with mock gravity as he looks over to where Faruja has more or less collapsed, deadpanning, "They grow up so fast, don't they?"

Eternally helpful, the alleged knight ignores the plight of his allies and savors his drink as Riku sorts them out and helps them at least get to their feet. Faruja recovers enough to go help Lily up, about whom Ivo also doesn't look too concerned, if only because in the past week of their traveling together he's helped that girl up exactly twenty-seven times. (He keeps a running log in his journal.) Once it's clear the two of them are just fine, eventually he'll saunter over toward Reize, not in any particular hurry. "Hang in there, chief," he says cheerfully, grinning again.

While Shiki fusses over Reize and actually, you know, offers assistance, Ivo follows Faruja's gaze to Lenn, but where Faruja shows perhaps a touch of understandable envy, Ivo looks-- vaguely speculative, before leaning in toward Reize.

"So... how did it feel?" he says under his breath. "Her... you know."

Upon further reflection, it occurs to Ivo that Reize doubtless lacks the context to describe said experience, and the swordsman pauses briefly.

"Describe them in terms of fruit."
Lily "Ooohgh... I'm not good at staying upright. The ground's always wobbly!" Lily complains as she grabs gratefully onto Faruja's extended arm, mindful of the claws.
Reize Seatlan "...Guh...."
Reize grumbles a few words to himself. This is no tone of his best days. Landing is rough. However, thre is something pressed against him.
It feels, nice, and soft... Though, he can barely get up. He mutters to himself, pushing his hand up to press upward.
Squish.
"...Uh..." The quirks an eyebrow, still a bit confused. His hand squeezes again.
Squish.
Many of the patrons and folks are staring at the spectable. Many are gaping. ...However, a majority of the male patron are slamming their fists to the table, going 'ATTABOY!'
"Uhh... what are they going on abo---" Squish. Then, the eyes lift up, seeing that well, his hand has has been holding onto someone the entire time. Or rather, has been holding against her bosom.

*O_O*

Reize is, unfortunately, in a state of shock. His face is filled with horror. ...It is a good hin that Riku is coming to get them up.
Comical tears roll along his eyes now: T_T
At least Riku and now Shiki are moving to help him up. And of course, Reize is also fussing at him.
As for Ivo's question, Reize is thinking to himself.
"Uhh...."
Reize thinks back to a time... long ago... Long ago where he enjoyed a nice moment in his quiet little village.

CHIBI FLASHBACK!
Chibi Reize: *happily chews on an apple* YUM! <3
("...No, that's not right...")

Chibi Reize: *chews on a watermelon* Mmm! <3
("...Nooot quite...")

Chibi Reize: *happily chews on a melon* Hee! ^_^
("That's it!")
FLASHBACK END!

Reize recalls now, and he lifts a finger into the air, "Oh! A melon!" ...Pause. "Wait." His antenna hair flops and he looks at Ivo with a stare.
Shiki Misaki In fact, Shiki, just blazing in the face, gets right up out of her seating there.

"I'm... still got some ice in my throat. Just going to... step outside for a minute, I'll be back, don't mind me, guys, I'll be back..."

And off she goes. Mr. Mew wonders what just happened.
Faruja Senra "The flower of youth blooms swiftly, Ser Galvan, let us hope petals do not fall so quickly thereafter!" Faruja responds, smile threatening to become another grin. Discipline rat! He won't be taken down twice today!

Shiki gets a nod, as he stands, one arm supporting Lily. "There there, Lady Lily, catch your senses.

Siiip. More hip-flask action. "What a dangerous man..." Poor Reize. And likely, poor /him/ with this group around. The thought brings an extra swish to his tail. At least until the 'melon' bit. Ignore the nosebleed as he looks at the pair.

The rat watches Shiki go. A hand rises up, and goes to his forehead. Sigh.
Ivo Galvan "Hmmmm."

Ivo nods slowly, visage steely.

"Melon... as anticipated."

How!?

Soon grinning to himself again, Ivo withdraws to sit beside Mr. Mew, with whom he appears to be establishing an enigmatic rapport, to keep him company in Shiki's absence, and watch the remainder of the proceedings.
Lenn Lenn snaps out of her stun, only to be shocked into submission by a hand on her breast.

Squish.

Her irises narrow to dots.

Squish.

She's helped up, face totally crimson, ignoring the forming bruise on her forehead, still in shock.
Riku Riku has this impulse to whap Reize across the side of the head. He's just such a.. Riku's smile fades.

He's an echo. I surround myself with them to keep from thinking about the reasons I haven't found any trace of my friends yet. Riku forces the smile back onto his face, helping Reize up and pounding him a little TOO hard on the back.

While Shiki flees the scene, Riku goes to confront Mr. Mew. An epic combat may or may not result from this matchup.
Shiki Misaki Mr. Mew is so small his head doesn't even reach up over the table. He also looks like he's taken over some of the paperwork, although his penmanship is questionable. He passes one over to Ivo a second and communicates the question of whether or not there are two rs in 'harrassment'.

Hey there, Riku. What's up. What you at.
Faruja Senra With everyone (more or less), well in hand, Faruja gently leads Lily over to a chair. A bow is given to the group. "If you all will excuse me, I have letters to write." With that, the Burmecian is up the stairs. Ignore any laughing one may hear from upstairs.
Reize Seatlan The boy's face is red.
Just red. Umm... Reize is just like, shocked and filled with horror. Unfortunately, he doesn't even realize that Shiki had left. That is, until Riku pounds him a bit too hard on the back, "Ooof!"
"I...wh---wh..." Reize is looking around.
His cheeks are flushed, then comical tears roll along his eyes.
"I'm confused AND I have cooties..."
Riku Riku says, "Try it. I might have to sell your hide to a flea market though. It's seen considerable wear. ;)""
Riku Riku finds a small box in which are imprisoned miniature princesses, through the use of a Tiny mallet from the World of ruin.
Riku Riku has come to Traverse Town again for two reasons.

One of them is ramen. He seems to remember seeing something of that description, but he hadn't made a note in his journal because he hadn't thought it important at the time. The other reason? Well. That will come along on it's own timeclock.

Traverse Town was the best place to poke around for fragments of drifting places and times, and Shiki's description of Shibuya intrigued him. Riku wanders down the street with his hands in his pockets, taking in the scenery with much less apparent gawking that earlier visits.

He cranes his neck, looking around for familiar landmarks. He knows it was somewhere around here.. somewhere close, because he stopped at the coliseum and asked for directions.
Riku Riku takes out his journal and flips to the part where he's made map notes about this district. The bookmark he had been using falls out of the binding, fluttering to the cobbles.

He scoops it up, unfolding the ice cream flyer that he'd found on the beach. As he does so he notices Will, who seems to be dragging himself along. Riku closes the jounral, stuffing it back into his jacket as he raises a hand. "Hey!" he waves to Will, walking towards him with the flyer in his other hand.

He gives him a closer exmination when he's within speaking distance. "Wow. You look beat."
Riku Riku blinks, asking. "Both pieces of what?" as he waves Will a little farther down the street. He turns a corner and there it is.

The smell and the landmark matches up at last and he walks towards the cafe with more curiosity now than trepidation. "And.." he adds when it's not possible to stall the question any longer and he has to say something. "and no. It's been.. weeks, and no trace of them." Riku shakes his head, waving it off.

He ends up using the hand holding the flyer. "Nevermind. I saw this flyer down at the beach. Is this what you are talking about?" he offers the flyer to Will as he takes a seat inside the cafe.
Riku Riku smirks, then shakes his head. "No, I've been.. away on business. I always seem to get sidelined by something." He then busies himself with looking over the completely unfamiliar names on the menu with an aura of confusion.

He turns it over and over as if to somehow divine it's meaning, but eventually he just shrugs to himself and picks something. His cavalier attitude to food is going to cost him some day. Riku orders Tonktoshu ramen, which apparently is noodles with pork in it.

He eyes Will sidelong, leaning an elbow on the table. "Good technique though."
Riku "Yeah. I was going to ask about that." Riku's tone scales down from amused to slightly concerned. "The last time we met, they seemed to be bothering you. I'm guessing chasing after the ice cream of fate didn't really help that much."

Riku snorts to himself as he realizes that he meant what he just said in a straight forwards and unironic manner. The worlds really do get stranger all the time.
Riku Riku sits back from the counter, brow furrowed in thought as he stares off into the distance. He tries to picture what Will is talking about, but it doesn't gel. The disparate parts don't make any sense to him.

He's about the shelf the entire thing when unbidden, the last moments of the last night of his world return to him to fill in the blanks. Riku shuts his eyes hard, rocking forwards to put both elbows on the counter. His head hangs down slightly and he sighs.

"That's.. that's pretty hard to picture, Will." he leans back again, opening his eyes and rubbing the back of his head with a rueful smile "Especially that last part. I've never seen you so much as raise your voice."
Riku Riku receives his ramen and takes a minute or so stalling by picking at it curiously. Finding it surprisingly good, he digs into the pork noodles properly. "Just a bad dream."

He waves the question away, not seeming to notice that his hand was on fire. Nobody else in the small cafe seems to have noticed either. The ghostly fire goes out as he puts his hand down on the counter.

" Anyways, I hope you and Mercade got paid sufficient to the effort of punching out ducks and heartless alike."
Riku Riku looks genuinely startled. He stops eating, turning in his seat to regard Will with what looks like confusion. "Uh. What do you mean?"
Riku Riku turns slowly back to his pork noodles. A tremor runs up his hand to his arm, but he keeps that hand on the counter while he uses the other to stir the noodles.

He leans on the counter, taking another careful bite of pork noodles. "Well.." he inclines his head to Will. "that's.. only a little surprising, actually."

he takes another bite. "I tend to keep this to myself. People tend to be surprised since I don't use magic unless I have to."
Riku Riku smiles, raising an eyebrow. "Someone took Mercade's hat?" he snorts. he stirs the noodles around and around, raising them up and examining them as they slide down back into the bowl.

He takes a larger piece of ham, tearing it in half with his fingers and eating one half while putting the rest back in the bowl. "I assume he got it back, I hope."
Riku Riku nods, listening to Will and nodding at his last statement. "Sounds about right." he shakes his head. "I was wondering about those coins." he taps his fingers on the counter once, then is still. "So.. what's next for the Twilight agency since the ice cream caper has been solved?"
Riku "Yes." Riku nods. "Always something to do." he takes another bite of his noodles. "And I would appreciate it if you would keep your silence. There are things I have to do." he looks sidelong at Will. "And I will not let anyone get in the way of them."
Riku Riku frowns at Will. The last time he met the man, he barely knew what the heartless were called, let alone anything that drove them.

"It doesn't concern you, Will." he goes back to his noodles, but another flicker of flame sparks across his shoulderblades as he stabs at the offending remnants of what was supposed to be a calm, relaxing lunch. "And my reasons are my own, unless you can read that off me as well." "

A sneering anger has crept into his tone by the end of the sentence. He taps his fingers again, then tucks them into his palm, pressing it into the counter slightly. "Can you?"
Riku Riku blinks. He pauses, a greenish tint that had begun to glaze his eyes fading back into obscurity. He looks at Will with a thoughtful expression, occasionally chasing around the last noodles and ham from his bowl.

A smile abruptly cracks his expression, which had been angry and accusing a moment before. "You're remarkably well preserved." it's not quite certain if he doesn't believe Will, or is he's using this as an anchor to pull himself away from his anger. Maybe a little of both.

His body language does seem to relax somewhat, Riku balancing his head on one hand as he keeps that one eyebrow raised in Will's direction. "This story I've got to hear."
Riku "So. Is the whole investigation part to figure out the rest of this story, or is it more of a sideline? If it were me." Riku extends one hand, looking at his fingers and flipping the hand over to inspect the nails. The flip causes a glitch in the film reel. A single frame of darkness spliced into the feed.

"Well. I'd want to know." he looks at Will appraisingly, then at the bowls of food he's consumed already. Riku smirks, putting the hand that was clawed for a split second behind his head. "Generally, I'd tell someone who told me that story that they were full of it.. but I had a friend who washed up on an unknown shore without any memory of how she got there. She was.." he pauses, then corrects himself. "She's one of my best friends."
Riku Riku stares at Will Sherman for about five seconds of silence. His face goes, in somewhat subtle degrees, across a continuum from angry to suspicious around to amused and then back around, double switch around to confusing. "You are a very strange man, Will Sherman." he finally settles with.%r He shakes his head, as if he can't really explain or understand what the hell was going on. He was only here for the food. Riku gets the attention of the staff at the cafe again and orders himself another bowl of noodles.

He might as well take advantage of the strangeness while he could. There was no telling what Sherman would do next, but it might be interesting to find out.
Lenn Lenn pssht. I want everyone to watch it. More viewers=more likely backing for projects like this, rather than being something done just to kill time and employ workers during a writer's strike.
