Luso Clemens It is mid day in the city of Rabanastre. People are going about their business as usual and the marketplace is booming. ...Literally.

KABOOM!

"Cruuuuud!" Came the cry of a boy after a particularly loud explosion. Various metal parts went flying everywhere along with Luso, who ended up sprawled out in the middle of the city square, soot all over his face and clothes.

"...Ow." He grumbled then, comically coughing out a puff of smoke before slowly sitting back up. "Sheesh! What the heck was that? This engine is useless! ...Or well, it's MORE useless now. Well crap. Now what am I gonna do?" The boy mumbled, fixing his hat upon his head and grumbling to himself.
Portobello Portobello was slowly walking through the marketplace at this time, paying little attention to his surroundings as his head was filled with too many thoughts that came flooding back upon first entering the city. He had not been back to Rabanastre in a long time, in fact he had not returned since he first left this place after the world had changed. He was rather hesitant to return. All the things that encouraged him leave in the firts place, the comming of the heartless, the plight of the less fortunate in the post-war cityscape. The presence of the Archadian soldiers reminding them that this is but a single piece, a step in a ongoing conquest orchestraited by power hungry warmongers.

Still, life went on regardless. Most people figured as long as they still eat, get up every morning and go about their day the greater events going on in the world shouldn't mean much to them. Was this kind of complacency right or wrong? He couldn't be entirely sure until whatever dangers lurked on the horizon had made themselves known.

His contemplations were cut short by the loud noise as he perked his ears and began heading towards the direction the explosion came from. He noticed some trails of smoke in the air and followed them towards the boy's location, "Having a bit of trouble with some repair work, kupo?" He inquired.
Luso Clemens "Guh...something like that." Luso replied, wiping some of the soot away from his face before glancing up at his side...and seeing nothing. "Wait? Kupo?" Ther'es only one creature that made that sound!

He then turned his gaze down, coming face to face with the moogle. "Whoa! Didn't see you there at first!" Smiling sheepishly, Luso began to stand back up, patting his clothing down to try and clean it up at least a little bit. "I'm not much of a repair guy actually! It's just that I've been working on a project back at clan HQ with the others and I needed to come out here and buy some new parts..."

Wasting no time, the boy began to explain, evidently finding nothing wrong with giving away such details. "But the part I bought was a complete bust! It blew up in my face!" Whining now, Luso crossed his arms, frowning in annoyance as he recalled. "Sheesh! It's a whole lot of trouble trying to fix an Airship, huh?"

It was a rhetorical question, but perhaps the moogle before him knew the asnwer regardless. Hey, he didn't know!
Portobello Portobello nods, "Well, just as well since you seemed quite focused on what you were doing there. It's not safe to go tinkering with these things unless you have some idea of how they run." Paused for a moment and listened quietly to the young man's story as they explain to him what had occured and what led to the engine blowing out just prior to his arrival before he answers him.

"Oh? Well let me see what you have got going on here." He says before looking down into the engine for a moment as he tsks a bit, "Well...here's the problem, this part right here is mounted wrong, you left this notch exposed when it's supposed to be aligned like this." He says while removing the part and turning it about before placing it back in so it's angled differently, "You're lucky it simply blew up like it did and not tear itself apart completely, kupo." He takes another look at it, pulling out some tools, "These parts right here just need to be cleaned off...." He says while pulling out some sort of steel fiber brush and running it across them to remove some built up gunk and deposits, "Kupo...that should get it running better now." He says while stepping back a bit.
Luso Clemens Stepping back a tad, Luso watched as the moogle got to work on the engine. Well, not really work, but still he was pretty much in awe nonetheless. "Whoa...! So you're telling me that I...Wow."

He nodded in understanding then, stepping forward and kneeling down to to inspect the engine. "Sheesh! This looks like it'll actually do something now!" Grinning in appreciation, Luso glanced over, giving the other a thumbs up. "Thanks a ton! God knows what I'd be doing with this otherwise!"

It was at that moment that Luso realized that he hadn't introduced himself to this good samaritan. "Oh! By the way, I'm Luso Clemens! Leader of Clan Gully!" Holding his hand out to the moogle, he went on to add."So who're you? You sure know your stuff anyway, I'm pretty impressed!"

Not that it was hard to impress Luso anyway, silly kid.
Portobello Portobello nods slowly towards Luso before glancing down at the Engine once more, "Oh of course it should. Provided it has enough mana left in the Magicite and all." He states with a smile, "Kupo, you're quite welcome. This is no big deal for an Engineer, very routine work." He says towards the young man

"A pleasure to meet you Luso, so you're running your own Clan and everything? That's Impressive in itself." He suddenly realizes he has not even introduced himself, "Oh, forgive me. My name is Portobello, Porto for short." He says while extending his own hand to shake Luso's, "I used to live here in Rabanstre, working at the Aerodrome and doing work on the upkeep for the Sky Ferries."
Luso Clemens "Nice to meetcha, Porto!" Luso replied cheerfully, shaking hands for a moment before withdrawing. "Well, technically, I'm just the leader in absence of the real leader, but I'm still getting things done of course!"

In the meantime, he filed away the advice regarding the engine in his mind as he continued to listen to the moogle. "Aha, so you worked at the Aerodome then? That's pretty cool! You must have worked with a lot of airships and ferries huh?" Luso grinned then, patting the engine he was trying to fix just earlier on. "Yeah, the clan and I are trying to fix up an old airship for our personal use actually! If we can do that, we'll save a ton of money on airfare!"

Well, it sounded smart enough anyway.

"Anyway, what're you doing around here anyway? I guess I kinda cut into your day with this engine stuff, huh? Sorry about that one! I'll make it up to you!"
Portobello Portobello ahs, "Well, still it can be quite a task to keep things running for a clan, it's very admirable that you're up to the task, Kupo." He says to the young man, nodding in responce to his question, "Indeed, I've worked on many different types of Airships from many differents corners of Ivalice." He pauses, "When Ivalice was still whole of course. After that time I left Rabanstre and went out to see how the world had changed. I've learned of many different types of technology since then and can repair a wider variety of machines and devices now."

He pauses for a moment, thinking about something somebody once told him reguarding airships and someday working on one as a project. Their name escapes him though the encounter is still fresh in his mind, "It's always better to have your own transport around here if you got work that takes you many places, kupo. As for my day I was simply returning here to see if things have changed, not much has happened ever since that day the Darkness came and took this place and others like it in Ivalice and merged them with this new world. No need to make up for lost time, though if you need anyother help with your project I'd be glad to assist you." He cheerfully offers.
Luso Clemens "Ohhhhh...! Wow, you're pretty amazing!" Luso exclaimed, nodding excitedly as Portobello's recounting of his tasks and accomplishments in the realm of engineering and airships. He wiped his hands off afterwards before glancing at the moogle again.

"You're right though, the darkness took a lot of worlds with it. The pieces left behind have all gotten mashed together into some sort of weird world now..." Regardless, the boy grinned, resting his hands on his hips as he nodded. "But that's not gonna stop us! Even if the world has changed, our goals haven't!"

Energetically, Luso raised a fist to the air to accentuate his cheer. Once he calmed back down, he let out a sigh, folding his arms behind his head in a lazy manner as he considered the moogle's words "Help, huh? ...Yeah, we could definitely use some help!"

Luso's attention turned to the spare engine for a moment then, examining the device before he turned back. "Say, are you in a clan right now, Porto? If not, then I definitely think Clan Gully could use your help!"
Portobello Portobello shrugs a bit, "I wouldn't say amazing, though it's not something you see your average Moogle doing outside of those fellows in the Cartographer's guild. I can only imagine they've had their hands full ever since that world changing events." He chuckles a little, "Some things have changed, but overall we still are doing the same things we have been before." He states.

After watching Luso's enthusiastic display he waits before nodding in responce, "Yes, I'm sure any work you need done with your airship I can cut down the workload by a considerable amount with my expertise." He pauses for a bit once the young man asks if he's in a clan, "Kupo...I have not thrown in my hat with any one group yet, to be honest. Though for the time being I have no trouble sticking around to assist you in anything until you got your wings up and running, so to speak."
Luso Clemens "Yeah, I get it."

CLosing his eyes, Luso spent a moment in idle thought as he considered the moogle's words. "You don't have to join of course! Just your help alone would be a massive step forward! If we can get our own airship running, Clan Gully'd be a lot more capable!" With that said, the boy knelt down again to pick up the engine, lifting it into his arms as he rose to his feet again. "Well, Clan HQ's in Fluorgis, so we'd have to take a ride through the desert. Thankfully I've got myself a chocobo!" Glancing at Portobello then, he decided to ask another question.

"So how much would this run us anyway? I'm sure you need to be paid, yeah?"
Portobello Portobello nods slowly while listening, personally he never really felt the need for climbing atop a huge yellow bird if he wanted to go somewhere, even if it was faster he felt the whole experience of riding a Chocobo personally disorienting, though he simply couldn't follow behind a chocobo on foot.

"Kupo, here's the thing. Unlike a lot of people here who are simply keeping their heads down and just doing what they always have you're trying to accomplish something here with this airship. I truely admire that, Kupo. So the only costs you'll need to worry about are extra parts, my services are on the house for this endeavor, provided you swear on your honr that you never settle for 'just good enough' in life. Deal?"
Luso Clemens "Whoa, seriously...? I mean, the clan can afford to pay you." Luso stared down at the moogle with a fair bit a incredulity. But after a moment, he just smiled. "Well, either way, you've got yourself a deal! Clan Gully will never settle for 'just good enough'!"

His smile widened as he continued on. "It's our goal to keep pushing forward! Showing the people that hope is still alive and there is something to fight for!" As he spoke, he began to head for the gates of Rabanastre. Specifically, the Chocobo stables, he had left his in the care of the facilities there and it was time to pick it back up.

"And of course, while you're helping us, you're free to use clan facilities as you want! Food, drink, and a bed are on us!" Well, that certainly saved time and money spending on an inn room at least.
Portobello Portobello nods slowly, "Yes, just keep up that type of thinking and that'll settle our payment. Some people think there's nothing wrong with being complacent and accepting how things are." He says in a lowered tone, there's always some Archadian guard on this or that street corner.

"Kupo, there's something you need to know about going down that path. Complacency leads to contempt, and all sorts of bad things happen when you're knee deep in contempt and you never raise your head high enough to notice if is somebody's pulling you on a short leash to somewhere unplesant." He hurries along to follow Luso as he heads to the Chocobo Stables, "Well I certainly won't turn down room and board if you're offering that at least." He says with a bit of a sheepish smile upon his face. He isn't *THAT* altruistic.
