No description.
Avira Traverse Town! It is crowded, though gradually that is starting to die down just slightly. Refugees were moving out to the other facilities that Hearts Intertwined has open. Some others head to other worlds, trying to strike out and start anew entirely. All the better, for the time of streets crowded with tents really needed to end.

Having just finished a brief visit to the colloseum, Avira makes her way through the crowd, a distant look in her eyes. Given her mutation, she stood out quite a bit and was actively avoided due to her current appearance.
Navya Navya has actually been in Traverse Town for a few days herself. Okay, technically she's not a refugee (from Manhattan) but she needed a place to stay, too... and she's still kind of kicking herself for not doing as well as she could have in the last battles in Manhattan. All that, and they'd still lost.

Navya is currently near the big fountain at the corner of the largest square. The sound of the water is relaxing, and sometimes she appreciates that. Or, well, that's where she was up until about thirty seconds ago; now she's standing from the bench she was at, looking for an opening in the crowd.

There are disadvantages, she decided a long time ago, to being short. She can't actually see over large groups very well, and she's not going to take off because she will probably hit someone with her wing or hammer (yes, she has it too, on a long strap over her back). So she moves toward where she hears a bit of an opening, even managing to avoid stepping on anybody's feet.

This is putting her pretty much on a collision course for Avira, once she actually pops out of the crowd into the zone of avoidance around her. Navya hasn't noticed. Yet. All she can tell is that it's a little less crowded over there and that some people are slowing down to look at something.
Avira If there ways any advantages to looking like this...nobody spent much time standing in your way. Except for the occasional misguided adventurer that mistook her for a heartless. Every now and then there would also be the accidents. People that bumbled into her path with no malice or intent.

Such as right now. Navya promptly collides with something big and furry, shaking Avira out of her thoughts in the process. "...hey..." she sounds only slightly annoyed by this infraction. All ready to brush it off, Avira takes a look at the Gria a little closer.

"Hey wait a second, it's you! Navya! You made it out, great."
Navya Navya doesn't get people clearing out of /her/ way like that. Not scary enough.

It is not actually uncommon for Navya to walk into things or people. She is one of those people who is very coordinated doing specific activities (which in her case is fighting) and clumsy otherwise. So her first reaction is the habitual "Sorry!" At least it doesn't feel like she knocked the person entirely over. ...The fuzzy person. With scales.

"Um," she says. It's not a monster, it's not attacking anyone, but it's also something that Navya hasn't seen before. She does stare, a little bit, until she realizes she's doing and then looks away for a moment. She does mentally correct herself when Avira speaks though: not an 'it' but a 'she'.

And a she who knows her name, apparently. Navya's brow furrows. She is pretty sure she's never met anyone like this before. The voice sounds a little familiar, but she didn't speak to Avira for that long and it doesn't occur to her. "Yeah? I mean... sort of. I got here, anyway..." She sounds slightly confused, and a little wary. "Do I know you?"
Avira Avira has almost gotten used to the staring at this point. Almost. She still hates it, that horrible, vicious kneejerk reaction making her long for the days when she was just -invisible- to everyone. That life was dead and buried now.

But of course. Navya wouldn't recognize her now. The confusion is obvious on the Gria's face. "...let me reintroduce myself. My name is Avira. We fought together in the bay of Manhattan. Thank you for your help there again, by the way."

She rests a hand on her hip. "I'm currently under a curse of sorts. My true form is the human you met that day."
Navya Navya has gotten the stares a few times. They're just not quite the same kind of thing; not knowing what a gria is, or ever having seen one before, is a little different than spotting someone that looks like Avira.

Navya is sometimes a little slow to clue in but Avira explains it simply enough. "I remember that, but - " The voice fits, now that she thinks about it. She /does/ recognize it, and the name. She's probably not being lied to. (And if she is, well, add another to the 'too gullible' counter for her. Don Corneo already hit that a couple times.)

Her eyes widen. Again. "Someone cursed you? Who was it? I'll thump them for you!" Navya pauses, having realized she's raised her voice, and reddens slightly; her tail lashes, once, before she gets it under control. "I mean... that's awful. Nobody should do - do /that/!"
Avira Patiently, Avira waits to see if Navya would recognize her and remember that particular fight. It was fairly memorable, if only because of Sho's scary-looking animal form. Seems the gria is starting to remember and recognize though.

The curse explanation has served her well. The real reason involves a lot of science stuff that people typically have trouble following. Curse works perfectly. "A scientist from Manhattan. Unfortunately, he is very well out of reach right now." The mutate sighs a little, letting her eyes fall away from Navya. "But hopefully a solution shall soon be in my grasp."

Avira looks back up at Navya. "Regardless....it's actually quite fortuitious that we've run into each other like this." She motions for Navya to walk with her. "Had you survived Manhattan's destruction, I was hoping to meet you again. If you don't mind me asking, do you have a clan?"
Navya Navya remembers the animal form and the steamboat pretty well. Her memory is fine! Avira just doesn't look the same. (And it's probably a good thing she didn't go for the scientific explanation; Navya wouldn't be able to follow it.)

"Oh." The response gets Navya to look slightly crestfallen. "Well, I really hope you find him. I can't stand people like that! A good person wouldn't do something like that." It sounds like she was going to say something else instead, something possibly ritualized, but decided not to at the last minute.

She also doesn't press it. Navya walks along with Avira; she has to walk quickly to keep up if Avira is moving anything near the speed those legs suggest she can move at. "Um... I don't. Not right now. I did solo work, mostly. Well, do. Sometimes I hunt monsters, or I came to Manhattan, like you saw." The question seems to surprise her.
Avira Much like a dog, Avira tilts her head at Navya to regard her in confusion as she seems to want to say something further, but chooses not to. With a sigh, she shrugs, "This man was certainly not a good person. Completely morally bankruped. Unethical to the core. A disgrace to his profession!" Whoah, she's getting a little heated there.

She pauses and takes a deep breath before continuing.

"Really? Well then. Would you be interested in joining one? I have a group based out of here-we hunt marks and oppose those who destroyed Manhattan."
Navya Getting heated is okay. Navya agrees, anyway. Not that she knows many scientists to compare it to.

"I hope you make sure he can't do it again!" Navya says, apparently not really bothered by the fact that she just offhandedly (if obliquely) suggested killing him. Or possibly arresting him. Or taking away whatever he used to make a curse! It could have been any of those, honestly.

She looks more surprised by the question. "Me? I mean - I don't know you /that/ well," she says. "And you don't know me, either! Do you think it would be a good thing? I mean - you don't know if I'm going to mess up, or anything."

Navya pauses a moment before adding, slightly redfaced, "Not that I'd do that! I know what I'm doing. A parivir trains every day," she says, sounding like she's quoting, "and, I mean, I know I'm not one, but I train every day too."
Avira "When I get my hands on him, I plan to." Avira might actually kill him this time...instead of freezing up. It was that moment when she decided not to kill that really made it an issue and left her looking like a freakshow.

"Well, not yet you don't." Avira says delicately, smirking a little at the 'protesting.' "But based on what I saw at that fight in Manhattan, you really seem to have what it takes to keep up with us."

Falling silent for a long moment, Avira looks pensive. "Think it over. We are named VALKYRI and you can find many of our members hanging around Traverse Town recently."
Navya Speaking of looking like a freakshow, Navya has been trying /not/ to stare, but she does look over every so often. And then she feels embarassed for doing it, and deliberately looks away, only to glance back when she's spoken to again because it's polite.

It's kind of a hard cycle to break.

"Was the fire mage part of it too? The one you were with." See, Navya does remember the fight. She can't remember the mage's name, but she did see all that fire going around, and Avira definitely came in with her. "And I've been doing so many hunt missions lately..."

Navya smiles, eventually. "Okay. I'll think about it. But... probably. It's kind of lonely being the only one you work with all the time, and if you're just doing what I'd do anyway, why /not/?"
Avira "Hard to look at it, isn't it?" Avira says somewhat sadly, noticing Navya struggling with the whole staring thing. "Can't really blame you, this really isn't natural at all." Her ears actually /droop/ at this.

Avira nods, her jaws bobbing up and down as she does so. "She is." A hard look is on her face, "She is also currently indesposed but I will be /retrieving/ her tomorrow. Ahem..."

Her gaze softens and she looks down to Navya, "Oh...I know exactly how that is. It's actually one of the reasons I founded VALKYRI in the first place. I feel far better getting out into the worlds knowing that my groupmates have my back."
Navya Navya didn't realize she'd been caught. Not that it was actually hard. "I didn't mean it!" she says, holding up her hands. "It's just... yeah. It's, um, kind of unique. I mean, I know I don't look like a hume and I got some looks the first time I went to a few places, but..."

There is no polite way to finish that sentence. Navya doesn't finish it. "Really? Is it something I can help with?" Navya asks instead. "I mean... never leave someone in danger behind, right? Or... well, I guess she might not be in danger, you didn't actually say."

Navya spends a moment thinking about that and nearly trips on a cobblestone. She does a little hop instead to stay up without falling. "Yeah. I don't really work with anyone in particular. Or hadn't, I mean, before. I've never been in a proper clan."
Avira "But you've never seen anything like this in Ivalice. So it's understandable..." Avira still sounds uncomfortable about it though. As if there was a way she could make people stop staring at her, she'd do it!

"Unfortunately, I have been called out specifically to attend to this and warned against showing up with other people. Though if you want to keep an eye on the colloseum tomorrow, by all means, please do."

Avira makes a contemplative noise, "Is there any particular reason why?"
Navya "...Yeah." Navya is no help there. She doesn't know how to disguise something like that. The most /she/ can suggest is how to find wing and tail-friendly clothes (the loincloth looks a little... exposed to her, which is why /she/ wears pants).

That sounds like a trap to Navya. Still, if Avira /wants/ to do it... "I'll keep an eye out!" Navya can do that much, at least. She can find somewhere high to perch and just watch. There should be plenty of places.

The question is a little embarassing. "I'm, uh, pretty new at the actual adventuring part," Navya admits, with a bit of a sheepish look. "So I went out and then... I left Ivalice. So there weren't clans, as such, for a while. I've worked with groups before! Just not, you know, permanently."
Avira Avira's still sort of unversed in the ways of 'getting pants that accomodate tails' though Ivalice certainly has such, between gria and bangaa. The best she can do for disguises is put on a big ol' cloak, and even that didn't work very well. It made her look like a hunchback.

"Maybe you can hide out in the high seats and escape notice." Avira considers, tapping her chin with a clawed finger.

That her question is embarassing doesn't occur to Avira quite yet. At least until Navya admits that she's new in that shy tone of hers. "Oh, well. We all start somewhere!" Avira is clearly not bothered by the idea of a novice adventurer. It'd be pretty hypocritical if she was! "Anyway, I must go prepare for tomorrow. It might get...dangerous."
Navya Navya grew up in a hume household. She got to figure that stuff out for herself.

"I'm not always real good at hiding, but if I just have to look like anyone else it's not so hard." Navya never really got the hang of 'sneaky'. But just showing up doesn't seem like it would be too hard, and it's not even a huge issue if she can't bring her hammer. There's always something to swing.

She grins. "I'll give it a try, anyway - oh! Okay then. Good luck, then... and don't get in trouble. I mean... when you go. Don't get trapped or anything." She didn't mean to sound patronizing or anything.
Avira "If I have an audience to contend with, then you should be able to sneak in easily. If not..." The thought hadn't occured to Avira before. Would there be people watching her fight? That remained to be seen.

"Heh." The concern is pretty valid. This could easily be a trap, designed to tire her out so she can be taken along with Maira! But that Ember person would have to /fight/ for it. Cheerfully, she gives a little wave before heading off, "Seeya around, Navya."
Navya There will be at least one. Navya will find a way in /somehow/.

Navya hesitates for a moment, then: "See you," she says, followed a moment later by a blurted, "And when you're done with that, let me know! I know somewhere you have to go."

It is, in fact, some of the places she buys clothes.
