Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
(2012-10-02 - 2012-10-03)
Life goes oooon (yeah!), la la la la life goes oooon, Lia has a barrow in the marketplace, Meri is the singer in a baaaand o/~
Merilan Yursalin Merilan has spent perhaps the last full day unconscious or so; the light-framed aegyl sleeps lightly, and is almost unnoticeable when she's out. When next Lia returns to her house, however, the red and black-garbed woman can be seen sitting by her windowsill appreciating the sights, also having apparently taken the initiative to bandage her forehead.

Beside her, Traya and Lemy are sitting on the windowsill and involved in the world's most physically laborous game of chess. Lemy's next move is to pick up a rook, wobble across the board, and... hit Traya on the head with it. Check!

"Ah..." Merilan notes as she turns around at the sound of the door. "Good afternoon, Miss Lia. Welcome back..."
Lia Tobutori For woofly samurai Lia Tobutori, it's been rather a long day, and she's actually allowing herself a brief moment of weakness to languidly stretch and yawn when she slips quietly through her door - so much so that she's straight-up taken by surprise by the Aegyl sitting on her windowsill. "Ah-- my apologies. I didn't realise you were up," she blinks in surprise, dropping her arms in an instant before smiling warmly. "Are you feeling any better now?"

The guard's tone is terribly pleasant and even, but she herself looks a little rumpled, tiredness clearly nagging at her bones a little. What started as helping the Troupe build a stage for tonight's performance inevitably turned into a couple of town layabouts trying to get in on the action, which led to a rough-and-tumble fistfight between several of the Troupe members as Lia tried to break things up - let alone the usual collection of idiocy when a show is actually underway. To top it off, she's had to endure more than a few ribald comments about her making a girl collapse in her bed, but that kind of comes with Troupe territory.
Merilan Yursalin There's a faint 'nnn' of uncertainty from Merilan, for a moment, but then she decides to nod. "Better. I can sit up now... that's good enough for now, for me," she remarks with a light smile.

A teary Traya decides to one-up Lemy by grabbing her white queen piece and floating up ontop to squish the winged yarhi with it. XD!

"Is everything okay? You look ... tired." She gestures towards the table, where there's, mysteriously, food cooked; fresh, even, probably made no more than half an hour ago. "I... thought that you may have wanted dinner when you returned."
Lia Tobutori Lia reaches a hand up to plant it in her hair; with the cat out of the bag, she just decides to exhale in a rather put-upon fashion. "I'm alright, really. As you've probably guessed, I'm not quite able to keep up with a troupe of actors just yet, at least as far as exuberance and energy are concerned. I'm supposed to be guarding them, but they tire me out far too easily. I'm pleased to hear you're doing alright, however; I was rather worried."

She blinks at the second sentence, the hand falling slightly to hover bewildered in midair. Hilariously, one of her ears cocks, leaving her looking more than a little ridiculous as she stares at the food as if trying to carefully work out the principles behind the idea of someone else cooking for her sake. "Ah... really? I mean, er, that would be splendid," she recovers, remembering her manners despite her surprise. "You really didn't have to do anything like that, but I'm grateful."
Merilan Yursalin There's a warm, radiant smile from Merilan as she puts her hands to her laps. "No, it's the least I could do to repay your kindness, Miss Lia." She looks towards where her Yarhi are fighting, and picks them both up and sits them on their lap, much to their 'uguu' reaction.

"This troupe of actors sounds very exciting. They must be very lively," she says, her smile just widening. It's infectious!
Lia Tobutori Lia doesn't respond until she's shrugged off the long coat, revealing a dark blue robe picked out in white trim underneath, and primly removed her light boots. Seating herself heavily next to Merilan - she only has so much crash space, after all, though her couch is wide and comfy despite how battered it is - the samurai just lets out another of her put upon and rather deadpan sighs. "They are a terrible hassle, and a force of chaos and disruption," she grumps suddenly, crossing her arms as she leans back; a second sigh immediately follows her quote, however. "... that said, my thoughts on the matter are usually a lot more rosy after a good night's sleep."

She leans forward with open and bemused curiosity to check out the food Merilan's made for her. Street stands only do so much for hunger, especially on days when you can't get any time away from the front line; Lia is uncomfortably aware how hungry she is. "... in that case, I'll accept your hospitality. I hope it wasn't too much hassle finding everything."
Merilan Yursalin Merilan's made one of her trademark dishes - fish croquettes, filled with love; there's also a teapot of minted tea, as well as, somehow, fresh home-baked bagels as well as a light Med-style salad.

"No, no, I have all my Yarhi to help me," Merilan assures her, remaining humble. She pets the both of them to say, "You've been good girls, Traya, Lemy." She rewards them with tiny cookies, prompting them to nomnomnomnom away with positive glee.

She takes Lia's sighing and grousing in stride, however, reaching over -- pausing, self conscious, but eventually patting her on the shoulder. "You do sound very tired..."
Lia Tobutori The samurai chuckles gently, shaking her head. "It's alright. As I say, I've simply not quite caught up to them in speed just yet. As far as companions go, they are more than welcome, so I can rarely stay too upset for long," she admits, a lopsided little smile on her face as one ear cocks back again. She doesn't even begin to mention that she probably slept on the couch, or even in a chair, while Merilan was using her bed - but it's kind of an open secret that she would have, no doubt.

Barely a moment or two later, she managed to almost literally wolf down half of her plate, balancing it on one knee for a moment as she sips at the tea in abject and pleased surprise. "... you're... really very good at this," she says with eyebrows raised. "I honestly can't remember when I've had anything this pleasant to eat... let alone had it waiting for me when I arrived home," she adds, another chuckle bubbling up behind her voice. Pausing in thought, the guard nods her head in thanks - both to Merilan, and then to the two dolls in her lap. "Thank you all."
Merilan Yursalin There's a faint blush from Merilan on the compliment of her cooking; she twiddles her thumbs gently, and then says, "N-no, it's nothing..." She looks away for a moment, to the window, to regain herself. "It's just the cooking I've done all my life, is all." The guard's smile does seem to affect her quite positively in turn, and she chuckles in turn to her again.

"I'm just glad I'm able to return something in measure. I mean, if you weren't there, I could be more heavily injured or worse..."
Lia Tobutori Lia protests - or tries to, at least, but she's currently busy with the last half of Merilan's offered dinner. Some things don't ever change. "Or you might have had the confidence to land, and not had my worrying you with my presence," she finally answers ruefully, though her smile suggests she's not taking any offence, nor anything of the sort. "In any case, you'd hardly need to return anything. 'You don't need a reason to help someone'," she adds, placing the quotemarks neatly in her speech and shrugging one shoulder. "It is rather a motto of the Troupe, at this pint."

She straightens up, letting out a quiet noise of contentment as she sets her tray down and then frowns. "... what will you do now? Sitting up is a far cry from being well enough to traverse the worlds. If you'd like, I don't mind putting you up. Perhaps call it returning something in measure for the dinner," she adds, huffing out an amused snort.
Merilan Yursalin Merilan doesn't look particularly convinced she would've had the werewithal to land herself, but doesn't raise the point further as she puts her fingers together and says, "That's a wonderful motto!" with that rather cheery, innocent smile of hers. "I think I should use it too."

She 'mmm's in thought, in turn to Lia's question, before muttering, "I think I should return to Traverse before too long... I need to write the next issue, after all, but..." A pause, as Lia makes her offer, and her cheeks just flush further. "Ah-- well, if you'd be graceful enough..."

Traya and Lemy have the most cheeky >:3 faces behind Merilan, with Lemy making kissylip motions. And, for whatever reason, fake wolf ears.
Lia Tobutori The samurai eyes the dolls for a moment, her gaze falling to a low deadpan with a hint of a flush for just a moment. She's hardly innocent, after all, and easily catches the implication the Yarhi are making; on the other hand, she's basically got a bulletproof armor against such things by now after all of a month around the Troupe. It's not the same unless the teasing includes lewd hand gestures. "It would be no problem at all. Some of the flophouses around here can be dangerous, and I'd certainly not turf you out onto the streets when you're hurt," she explains as she looks back towards Merilan. "I'll simply get some blankets and use the couch again."
Merilan Yursalin To be fair, they aren't dolls. :3 Unlike a certain /other/ person, Merilan has no control over what they do, which is probably why the yarhi rib her so often, in turn; but, not facing them, Merilan is totally unaware of the kind of implications being laid on the table.

There's a few blinks in turn, as Merilan stammers, "A-ah, I... I do not mean to occupy your bed. I could use the couch in turn, it is no problem..."
Lia Tobutori The samurai blinks. "--nonsense," she blurts automatically, her ears poiting upwards as she says it. "You're a guest, however it came to be. It wouldn't be the first time, and probably not the last," she adds... perhaps not being entirely clear she's talking aobut the couch and not Merilan ending up in her bed. She stands a moment later, a faintly amused smile on her face as in turn she picks up the empty plate to take it over to the rather simplistic little tacked-on kitchenette. "Besides, I am merely tired. You got hit by an airship; I dare say you win."
Merilan Yursalin (Un)fortunately, Merilan is perhaps a little bit too innocent to draw implications about Lia having invited other people to sleep on her bed while she takes the couch, though the Yarhi seem to be having a field day with it, as wolf-Lemy starts... rolling around on the floor hugging a tiny pillow for some reason.

"T-that was... yesterday," Merilan huffs, in turn, a little persistent. "It's not about ... winning."
Lia Tobutori Folding her arms lightly, the beagle (who are we kidding otherwise) grumps right back as she leans out of the side area to frown at the Aegyl. "It /is/ about you being a guest in my home, though. I wouldn't feel right just leaving you to recover while getting bad sleep." She hesitates for a moment, then lets out a faint sigh as she walks back over, sitting down - and placing a hand gently on Merilan's shoulder, in much the way the reporter did to her earlier. "It'll be fine, really."
Merilan Yursalin Merilan's face only flushes further when Lia gives her reassurance, putting both of her hands down on her knees. "... thank you," she expresses, gently. "It's... it's been very nice, to be able to receive such generosity and kindness. Everything is -- well, it is scary; everything's changed, people are missing, and... it doesn't feel like anywhere is home anymore, sometimes."
Lia Tobutori The samurai folds her arms, frowning slightly as she sits back in her chair; staring at the ceiling, she starts to lose herself to quiet introspection. She's never exactly been good with homes, but it's still easy to relate to, especially the 'not safe, everything's changed' parts. "... yes, I suppose that's very true..." she murmurs out with the faintest of sighs. "I can't say I was particularly attached to my home, but even then there's a very definite sense of loss involved."

She huffs out another breath, shaking the introspection away - it's much easier to deal with things day by day right now, after all. Especially when the Troupe have been doing their level best to beat you up. "At the very least, I understand that feeling a little. You're far from alone, if the reports I'm hearing have been any indication. Consider the kindness a bit of karmic repayment for the service you're providing others, perhaps," she adds, a vaguely rueful smile on her face.
Merilan Yursalin Merilan finds herself dragging her legs up a bit more, so she can kind of curl up on the couch with her arms around her knees. "I don't even really remember home. I ... really want to, but it's all very hazy," the aegyl admits.

There's a bit of a flush from Merilan's face back at Lia, as she giggles gently. "Like a guardian spirit, then? I... I do like that."

Well, hopefully not like the Yarhi, though it's easy to have more intelligence than those things. Speaking of which, wolf-eared Lemy's gone to prepare a tiny doghouse prop that Traya's curling up inside, while she flops straight ontop on its roof. Munyu.
Lia Tobutori "I don't think I'm so lofty a thing as that..." the Nu Mou answers in bewilderment, unable to stop a gentle and quiet laugh as she shakes her head. "I suppose I'm just trying to help in my own way, little by little." And, you know, make up for being a terrible Khamja activist, but who's counting. She shakes her head, chuckling again. "And after all, you're the first offworlder I've helped in such a fashion. I'm not sure that's much of a track record for a guardian spirit."

She watches the Yarhi as they do a Snoopy impression, then gets up to her feet; the light outside is fading fast as the sun sinks below Lindblum's walls, so she crosses to light a couple of the room's lamps, filling her apartment with a dim glow. Ain't steampunk black mage mains power a great thing. "Please could you get the curtains? These windows aren't that good with the cold."
Merilan Yursalin "You have to start from somewhere, right? And, if nothing else, I'm positive your heart is in the right place!" Merilan beams with an almost too sunshiney smile, putting her legs down again and leaning her head in her direction with an encouraging nod.

"Ah... alright," she responds, as she gets up to walk over to drape the curtains on down. Somewhere, someplace, someone is totally going to get the wrong idea, how saucy! Kyaa. "This is such a nice town. It's so... busy. Different... the skies are filled, here, and there's so many mach... mach..." A pause. "Um..."

"Machines."
Lia Tobutori Lia only chuckles again, shaking her head as she crosses over to a rather battered cabinet to search inside of it. "I suppose that's true. Actually, now that you've said that, I really should look out for more people like yourself. I'm sure just saying hello to them would be enough to lift their spirits a little," she adds, growing more introspective and pausing as she realises it's probably entirely true.

She shakes it away, retrieving an overly large and thick blanket from the cabinet. It's the sort of thing someone more accustomed to wintery areas would pick for their bedding, or possibly the sort of thing a six foot dog would choose. Either-or. "That was one of the reasons I stopped here. It's actually quite close to where I used to live, airships and architecture and all. The only difference is really the weather... and that people tend to be quite a bit more friendly here," she adds, dumping the blanket down on the couch where she was sitting to start unfolding it.
Merilan Yursalin Merilan cups her hands both behind her back, from the now-closed windowsill as she watches Lia walk. "Wow, you must be really good with... machines," Merilan expresses, tiptoeing for a moment with some exuberance. "Where I come from, we didn't have any, at all. It's been a very big adjustment."

A pause, and then she asks with some curiosity twinkling in her eyes, "Where are you from, Miss Lia? I... well, I do notice your ears. They're... they're very pretty, but I've never seen them before."
Lia Tobutori The Nu Mou scratches at her cheek a little, laying out the blanket along the couch; a layer on the cushions, then the rest of it bundled up across the backrest to be dragged over the top of whoever sleeps there in the end. "Actually... I never really learnt much about them," the samurai notes sheepishly. "I know the day-to-day things, but not how to pilot an airship, nor anything of the type. I was really just a simple..." Thief? Assassin? Illua cuddle crush? "... fighter."

She straightens up, surveying her work and then turning one of the end cushions around so it can be used as a pillow. It's makeshift, but servicable. "Ah--... I come from a world named Ivalice, and a town named Fluorgis. I'm part Nu Mou... though I suppose most of those names won't mean terribly much as far as you're concerned, I expect," she adds apologetically, one ear cocking back in her awkwardness. With her jacket off her robes are kind of bulky in the back, like someone's hiding a tail as well. "They made me stand out a little too much in some areas, but this town didn't seem to mind at all."
Merilan Yursalin You're just setting things up for when she is apped, aren't you.

Admit it!

"Still, that's... I mean, at least you're familiar with them," Merilan smiles widely as she looks down towards the blanket being quickly made up to be the makeshift bed. Traya and Lemy have somehow switched to banana-print pajamas and go 'nyaaa' at the prospect of the blanket, and blomp down on it, rolling around happily.

"Ivalice..."

Merilan pauses, like the name hits a little stumbling block in her mind. "It... feels familiar, somehow." But, eventually, she shrugs helplessly, with a somewhat sad smile. "But a lot of things 'feel' familiar, too. I don't know what the truth is."

Sadly, Merilan will not know of Lia's half-Nu Moe status, so she doesn't get to ask the truly scandalous, saucy questions quite yet.

"I do stand out a lot in some places I've been to, as well. I'd cover these up, but..." She gestures towards the wings on the back. "They're... really big."
Lia Tobutori Lia nods her head, looking up from frowning at the Yarhi's sudden flop to instead blink openly at the wings emerging from Merilan's back. She hasn't looked perturbed by them even once, but then she's from a place where dragon girls regularly run around with little in the way of clothes on, wings scandalously in full view. "They're very impressive. You shouldn't have to hide them at all," she almost automatically states, then shakes her head as she huffs a laugh. "The Troupe... certainly has its fair share of characters. The leader is... a tapir, I think? And one of the lieutenants has a monkey's tail. That's really just the start, as well."

She fluffs the cushion a little, doing her best not to dislodge the conked out spirits, and sits carefully on one end; if nothing else, to claim it from Merilan bogarting it for herself. "I've seen a number of worlds that looked... a little similar, at least. Medieval locales seem to be common, but I admit I stopped really looking after a while."
Merilan Yursalin Merilan doesn't even know what a tapir is, but probably silently, or subconsciously vows to find out. She also flushes up, predictably, at Lia's compliment of her wings. "N-no, they're... well, they're just ordinary for my race of people, really. And... wow! You know, I do like these kinds of places more... people are more tolerant, in a lot of ways." She smiles rather shyly, in turn.

Traya and Lemy have conked out somewhat quickly and are sleeping with contented =w= faces, big blue sleep bubbles firing out of their nonexistent noses. Somehow.

"There are some very different places, too... there are worlds that are -- so far ahead of mine, or even here, and it's ... well, it's very scary, in a lot of ways, but very exciting too." Merilan walks down to go sit down on the blanket on the other side, so they can chat at even level. Oh -no-.
Lia Tobutori The Nu Mou does still look rather tired after her harrowing day throwing people out onto the street, but only really in a weary sense; she's a thoughtful enough host she wouldn't dream of sleeping before Merilan does if she can at all help it, but at the same time certainly isn't above cozy night-time talking, oh my. "That's really it, yes. I wanted a place I could feel at least a little comfortable in... instead, I got Lindblum, where I can feel very comfortable but at the same time ragged and tired out each day, should things get too busy."

She finally starts to curl up just a little herself, drawing her legs up under her as she lets out a faint yawn. "Is that so... but you said you weren't very good at working machines. What is the place you're staying at like?"
Merilan Yursalin "Hmm... but, keeping busy is always good, isn't it? I know I get very restless if I don't have something to do." Which, in turn, probably explains dinner. Merilan tilts her head with a soft smile for her, as she puts her hands down on her lap.

She turns her head towards the kitchen with a flick of her wrist, as the magical Ring of Pacts appears out of nowhere in a small sparkle of pure ether; several blue Shivans, the equivalent of generic units to Traya and Lemy's... Hero status... fly over to go make tea.

"Ah... um, everyone seems to gather in Traverse Town. It's... always night there, but it's peaceful, and full of lights," Merilan explains gently. "I feel safer there if the Heartless ever attack, I suppose, since there's so many people there." There's a wan smile from her. "I'm... not really a fighter or anything, after all, I really hate fighting."
Lia Tobutori The woofly guard only blinks as a small squadron of Yarhi invade her kitchenette, letting out a quiet chuckle of surprised disbelief. "Really... I hadn't heard of the place. I think my way of initially getting around was perhaps a little, ah... unorthodox. It wasn't as uncontrolled as you made yours sound, but it was certainly not particularly smooth sailing." She tilts her head just a little, curious as one ear folds back again. "I have some trouble imagining a place where it's always dark, though. Do you mean winter?" she asks innocently - after all, for all she knows that might be the general state of Merilan's world.

She gives up on trying to understand why she has a large collection of little bwee-faced cheery creatures pottering around her things, and just settles back on the couch to relax instead. "I suppose I should go and at least see it at some point. I can't leave the Troupe be now that I've agreed to help, but it would be pleasant to see the place."
Merilan Yursalin "Mmm... I'm not sure," Merilan admits. "For some reason, it's always night time there. There's lots of mystery, and magic in that place. It's very exciting, really."

The Yarhi come back with a silver platter and teapot carrying Merilan's trademark mint tea, before disappearing back into her ring. "Ah... okay. I was going to ask if you wanted to travel. It... would be nice, to have company," Merilan admits further, before glancing away, perhaps a bit bashfully. "It would feel a lot safer, too."
Lia Tobutori Lia turns her head to blink at her guest, sizing her up for a long moment. Her ears have already perked up; it's very hard for her to hide her inquisitiveness when her curiosity is piqued. "Really... I can't say I'm not tempted, but I can't really leave the Troupe right after I said I would help them and had them take me in," she frowns, mulling over the offer for a long moment before she nods her head, looking to Merilan with an earnest look. "However, if it would be acceptable, I would be glad to talk to Baku regarding my leaving for a while to accompany you back home, and whenever you're in particular need. I can't imagine he'd have much of a problem with that."

She pauses a beat, automatically imagining the large gruff man who's liable to make sure she can handle herself via the simple expedient of beating her around. "... though... he might want coverage in your paper, in return."
Merilan Yursalin "I'd be more than happy to write about the Troupe, and some of the acts they get up to," Merilan smiles widely in turn. She does love her theatre, after all. Her cheeks rose up once more as she scratches one side with her finger, and then, "That would... that would be very, very kind and generous of you, Miss Lia. I can't possibly ask for more."

She pours a cup of tea for Lia, first, and then one for herself. It isn't fine china, likely, but hearty and homey enough.
Lia Tobutori The samurai shakes her head, taking the offered cup with a warm smile. "Not at all. I'm happy to do whatever I can to help, as I say - moreso if people are gathering somewhere. At the very least, I should make sure I understand the situation a little better."

She takes a sip, enjoying the warmth of the drink and settling back further into her seat, now curled up into a small ball. It's definitely a tail, and it's wagging slightly as her ears droop in contentment. "If you'd like, you can see backstage tomorrow. I'll check with Baku then." And probably subject poor Merilan to the sight of Baku trying to smack one of his employees around, for that matter.
Merilan Yursalin Merilan smiles back in turn, taking sips from her tea... she does look like she's getting considerably sleepier. Summoning those Yarhi probably didn't help any for her wakefulness. Merilan's eyes do perk up at the sight of the tail, and some part of her might just be 'UUUU MUST TOUCH' but that would be /rude/.

"Wow... that'd be very, very exciting. Yes, please!" Merilan nods in turn, before yawning and, before she even knows it, curling up on the blanket. "Mmm... it's been a long day." She adjusts the bandages on her head lightly.
Lia Tobutori Lia pauses, then frowns over the edge of her cup as she raises one eyebrow suspiciously. "... Merilan... I said I would sleep here," she gently reminds the Aegyl who is currently busy snuggling into her blanket. Her expression is almost comical, a deep-set look that makes her ears droop.
Merilan Yursalin Because this is a most shoujo-romantic scene, Merilan looks to have conked out almost immediately, hyu, hyu, cuddled up very comfortably even without the blanket draped over her. The aegyl must have been exhausted! Goodness, now who will tuck her in to bed.
Lia Tobutori The samurai lowers her cup, her eyebrow raising even further - and when it doesn't look like Merilan's about to sit back up any time soon, she can only sigh out a breath of air and shake her head in bemused exasperation. "Honestly... what am I supposed to do with you?" she sighs out as she lifts herself up to standing height. Carefully, she sets her cup down, being careful not to clink it too hard; she recovers the second from the Aegyl conked out on her couch, and slinks off with the pair of them to the kitchen.

By the time she comes back a few minutes later, there's been no change at all - and all that Lia can really do to that is surrender, reach over, and drape the rest of the blanket carefully over both Merilan and Merilan's wings with the utmost care. "... sleep well," she notes quietly.
Merilan Yursalin Of course, the advantage of this kind of position is that Merilan is asleep and cuddled up next to Traya and Lemy, now, which makes for the most saccharinely disgustingly adorable moment. :3
