No description.
Riku Riku looks out at the vista of Hollow bastion from the very bottom of the Rising Falls, on a platform that is almost completely slicked over by moisture. The constant roar of the water falling up into the sky drowns out the thoughts in his head and he is using this time to do something he hasn't done for a lot time.

Riku meditates, hands in his lap, staring at the flowing waters. He lets the thoughts just drift around in his head. Painful or not, they slip through his fingers and leave a peaceful silence behind. On the nights when he couldn't sleep. On the nights when he'd wander out of the house and think about his future-- he would sit and do this. Riku wonders if he had very much future to think of, but he lets that thought fade at the edges and eventually disintegrate. Of course he did.

There were things he must do. There was a future he was fighting for, and right now he needed to focus on that. Everything else was a distraction. All the pain and the nightmares were just a distraction. He needed.. a little clarity. The teenager draws in a deep breath of the moist air, and lets his eyes drift closed again.
Garland Hollow Bastion.

It is one of the greatest centers of power for the Shadow Lords. An overwhelming existence of darkness, the corrupted heart of a world that once long ago was beautiful and fair, the castle juts into the skyline with twisted impurity, with graceful insanity and terrifying beauty. Were it not for the darkness this place roils with, the ocean of shadow that spreads across the castle on a plane more metaphysical than real, it would be a glorious triumph of engineering in the eternal dusky night. But that shadow unnerves lesser creatures; those born of light cannot be comfortable in the Castle, cannot ever find peace in those madness-strewn halls. This is not a place for the good, the kind, the just; it is not a place for well-meaning knights and honorable heroes, for those who wield the light like a cudgel against the darkness.

It is for creatures like these.

Riku is not alone in the darkness of Hollow Bastion. Ignoring the nightmares that lurk just out of the corner of his eye, the dark things that scuttle and shuffle and shoggoth through the Castle Hall as they do through the night terrors of good folk, there is another presence here - one that dwarfs the lesser Darkness of most men, one that engulfs and consumes all but the purest Light in his presence. Riku would not need to even turn around to know of his approach; no matter how eerily silent the massive man, no matter how impossibly stealthy that immense armor, Riku does not need to hear or see that man to know of his approach; the wave of all-consuming, palpable Evil is enough. The number of people that that could be is probably countable on one hand.

Garland descends under his own power, landing at the edge of the Rising Falls. He simply contemplates Riku for a moment; Maleficent's apprentice. One of those Garland knew he had to keep a careful eye on, for his own plans as well as the greater good of the Shadow Lords. He had no *proof* of this, of course...but he had reason to believe it, and that was enough for Garland to become suspicious.

Garland sits. The massive bulk of armor folds downwards as Garland plants himself on the side of the flowing river, his helmet still directed at Riku. He does not speak, nor need to speak; Riku would acknowledge him in his own time, and then Garland could begin...whatever it was that Garland wanted with the boy.
