No description.
Faruja Senra The heat beats down upon Rabanastre as Faruja stares into the light brown colored cup of coffee before him. He's no longer dressed in his armor, instead wearing simply his robes, and quite a few additional bandages peak out if one looks at the rat's neck. More than anything, the normally sharp-eyed ratling is spacing out as he sits, right outside a small outdoors Cafe. The tip of his tail twitches every now and then erratically as it lays slack behind him.
Maira Maira had needed a little time alone. Or, well, mostly alone. Uist is with her, so she supposed what she really just in need of some time with Uist. Her ghostly friend is the strong silent type, but today they have had a long conversation. She does not care just now that all the people she passes are giving her strange looks and wondering who the heck she is talking to.

"It was really strange. Its all blurry. I don't remember clearly, but you were very angry....yes, Kaydin accused me of burning down Baron. I did NOT burn down Baron. Maybe some scorch marks but....no. No that's really not needed, honest!" she says, animatedly talking to, apparently, herself, except with appropriate conversation pauses, etc.

Looking around then, she spots a figure she could not miss, a certain Burmecian! "Oh, I think I see Faruja....FARUJA!" she calls, waving as she picks up the pace and heads toward him.
Faruja Senra Faruja doesn't look up as he's called out to, apparently contemplating the coffee-beans as the steam rises up to waft to his muzzle. Indeed, it's only when Maira's but a foot away that the ratling snaps out of it. Bolting up, he turns, gazing at the woman for a moment. Blink. Slowly, recognition dawns.

"Oh. Lady Maira." Pause. A hand rubs over his eye, and he pushes back the hood of his robes.

Taking a deep breath, he offers the woman a bow. "My apologies, I did not hear you. Lord bless, M'Lady. How fare you? Please, sit. Have you had lunch?" Pulling out his chair, he offers it to Maira. It seems the woman's the distraction the Templar needs!

With his focus somewhat restored, the Ladies colliding has Faruja walking over to offer each a hand. Just don't tug too hard, he's short and lacking leverage after all!

"Dame Katsvaren! Are both quite alright?"
Maira Maira is about to take Faruja up on his offer to sit when she's bowled into by Katyna. Of course, being Maira, she falls too. She does see something shiny go flying from her hand, as does Uist, who goes to investigate. "Oh...oh I'm okay! Oh! Katyna! Hi!" she greets, climbing to her feet, then moving over to where Uist is guarding Katyna's necklace. "You're alright, yes? You dropped something, let me get it," she says, bending down to reach toward the gold chain.
Maira "Here it is! Uist saw it fly off so he was looking after it," Maira says as she scoops it up and hands it on over to Katyna. "Very pretty! Does it mean something?" Aah....to be from a world that doesn't know what a cross means. How novel.
Faruja Senra Such cheer! It reminds him of little Lily. Only, not quite as young and innocent. That's enough to bring a smile to his muzzle, and some of his own Staring Into The Darkness effects to dim a little.

Faruja does his best not to give Maira a strange look as she speaks of Uist. Cough. He covers the pitying frown that comes reflexively.

When the Fire Lady comes back with the cross, Faruja raises a brow. He crosses himself instinctually, indicating a similar cross (though not quite as ornate) about his neck. "The symbol of the Holy Son, Saint Ajora Glabados, and the Holy Church of Saint Ajora." Faruja explains.

"You have...had a religious awakening, M'Lady?" KitKat gets a hopeful look from the Burmecian. It's news he could use right now.
Maira Maira takes a seat across from Faruja, leaning forward to give him a closer look. "Faruja! You don't look well...are you alright? Did something happen?" she asks. Oh, is that coffee he's drinking? Yummy. "And no I haven't eaten, I would love to be eating...do they have good food here? I'll take whatever..."
Faruja Senra Flinch. The question hits him, and Faruja offers a painfully thin smile. "Merely...fatigued. The charity event we hosted here was attacked by a Heartless Summoner and his ally." It would certainly explain a bit of increased numbers of guards since yesterday! But, the rat looks a little too out of it for it to simply be a case of battle fatigue. Quite simply, something seems to have put the fear of the Lord into him.

A waitress passes by, and the Burmecian motions to her. A menu is soon given to the magess as Faruja finally takes a seat opposite Maira.

"Oh, the salad and sandwich I suppose. Enjoy ham, perchance?" The Waitress nods, soon off to get some food and drink for the Lady.

"You look well, at least. Pray that your days are less exciting than mine."
Maira "Love ham!" she informs him, but then if it is made of food Maira probably loves it. She's not picky. Just hungry.

Maira bites her lip as Faruja mentions a Heartless summoner, and she can only imagine it was a grueling battle. But Faruja is a warrior, and battle-hardened. He seems so...shaken. This truly upsets Maira.

"I've been...alright. The days have been exciting...went to Baron not long ago because Avira was captured. Snuck in to break her out, as did a whole bunch of other people apparently...it...was...pretty bad," she says, sighing. She's not ready to get into it all. It was all rather complicated and a little traumatizing.
Faruja Senra Soon enough, there's a ham sub placed before Maira, complete with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and various condiments as well as a local flavor of tea. Faruja knows how to pick a Cafe!

The look Maira gets as she describes the rescue attempt is nothing but sympathetic. It seems they're both skirting around details. Slowly, he nods. "It pains me to hear that such a kind person as you should be drawn into battle. But for a worthy cause. Lady Avira, from all appearances, is a gallant and brave woman...if a touch brash and quick to advance." Pot, kettle.

"You look unharmed, at least, Lord be blessed. Baron, it seems, wishes little more to antagonize all the world at this rate."

A pause, and the Templar finally sips his drink. "Lady Maira. Should you ever come across a large man in dark armor by the name of Garland, do not engage him. Run, and take your companions in the Valkyri with you." He states suddenly.
Maira Indeed, they've both been through some things lately that have left them shaken. Maira remembers the collar around Avira's neck and the expression on her friend's face when she raised her sword and sliced at Maira, screaming for her to defend...Maira gives a shudder, reaching for tea to sip and comfort her. Ah, the hot liquid does the trick, as does the promise of a huge sandwich to fill her belly! Maira sets to eating, trying to be polite when all she wants to do is inhale it.

The young woman blinks when Faruja mentions Garland. "Oh! I've met him! He's very large, isn't he? He has a lovely singing voice," she offers. "Why should I try to engage him...he...well. Just looking at him I know that would be silly. He's...sort of helped us, I suppose? I don't know much about him, but I do know his...apprentice? I'm not sure the word, but Avira and Angantyr are from the same clan apparently, and Angantyr is quite nice and I guess we're friends now! He's a dark knight, but....I don't know. He uses the darkness, but there is good in him."
Faruja Senra Siip. The ratling keeps his own manners, reflexive as they are, while trying to /not/ think of a particular set of eyes and what lay beneath them. A shiver runs through the Templar.

FAruja considers her words...and the Light and Darkness that's so impressed upon the small Church warrior. "...I cannot say what he may have been, or whether he is yet a man as we would understand it. Maira. He...good. Good. Just, please, promise me. I...never fight him, and for the love of all that is good and Holy in this world, never peer into those Faram-damned eyes of his." By now, as he's forced to relive his traumas, the Templar trembles like a frightened pet.

A pause. Apprentice. It breaks the rat of his own fears. "I...I should like to meet his man. Apprentice? To /that/....that Thing!?"
Maira Maira frowns, seeing how greatly Faruja has been shaken. She gets up then and moves her chair closer to him so that she could lean over and embrace him. She cannot help be offer some comfort. "Okay Faruja. I promise," she tells him, if only to make him feel better. She would listen, of course, but she would primarily do so to help the knight shake the fear that clutches his heart.

"Angantyr is very...intense? But he is very loyal it would seem to me. He came to rescue Avira too...and, he defended me against Kaydin...never mind that though. I'm sure you will get to meet him. He's huge too. I wonder if he and Garland are related? They are both so darned TALL..." she says, shaking her head.

"Are you sure you are alright? I have healing magic I could offer..."
Faruja Senra Clawed hands grasp Maira's own, squeezing. "Lord praise you, Lady Maira. I know it must sound so...so panicked, so strange. But...damnit all, it was like staring into the Abyss itself! So dark, so cold, and yet...oh Faram save us, shield our immortal souls, keep us from the demon! It was /alive/ Maira. Alive!"

Faruja's outburst ends as he's getting looks from various passers-by, and he finally lets go. His voice is far quieter now. "...Maira. I...even blessed as I am, given so much by the Church...I am yet weak. My Faith, such as it is, is insufficient as it stands." A slow, bitter laugh escapes his muzzle. "Pride goeth before the fall. Perhaps...perhaps this is a test? The Heartless....bah! They are nothing compared to the evil that may yet be bred in each and every one of us. No, my friend, I am not alright."

He sighs pitiously. "But...I cannot rest. So long as creatures such as he exist, I cannot rest. I must grow stronger, surer in my Faith. For I am weak, and only obedience in the Lord can make someone so foolish and pathetic as myself worth anything at all."
Maira Maira blinks, looking into Faruja's eyes. The intensity and passion there is undeniable. She has seen so much of this lately in so many of her friends, she is sure something important is happening. Is about to happen. "Shhh...It'll be alright Faruja. Don't say that. I know you have your faith an all but you're still a worthy person and would be without it--I know you'll argue with me, but please just don't, okay? Something is happening, I know...the Heartless...everything. But we'll be alright, you know? I won't stop fighting either."
Faruja Senra As Maira speaks, the rat snaps up straight, muzzle opening in a retort. It dies on his tongue as the magess predicts exactly what he was about to do. All of a sudden, he feels so very tired. Slumping, he looks into the woman's eyes, and finally gives a tiny smile. "...I wish I had your confidence. Whether we shall be amongst the fallen or the living when all comes to pass, I cannot say. Nor is it my place. However, you are right on one point. You certainly do not seem the sort to simply give up. And Lord take me if I shall be outdone by a fire-wielding Mage, no matter how wise or powerful." Maira is cast a fond look, and a profoundly thankful one. Though he's haunted, and desperate, there's no longer a feeling of hopelessness. He's not alone. There is yet hope.
Maira Maira smiles warmly, giving Faruja a light squeeze. "We're not alone. We're banding together...it's wonderful, isn't?" she says. It is clear Maira is just so thankful to have friends. It is more than she hoped for! "Heh...I'm not wise or powerful.." she informs him, flushing.
Faruja Senra Faruja chuckles, shaking his head. "Now, now, do not be so modest! You are truly blessed, Maira." A squeeze, and the ratling stands, placing a coinpurse on the table. "Here, for the meal, and a tip. Thank you. We must stand together against the Darkness. All are at risk. Let us speak more soon, hmm? For now, I should do as my superiors suggest, and heal my wounds. Good day, and Faram guide you Lady Maira!"

The Burmecian bows, and heads off!
