Unintended Confrontrations
(2012-11-26 - 2012-11-26)
No description.
Maira It has been a day or so since Avira was rescued, and Maira has decided it is probably safe to leave her to her own devices for a bit so Maira can indulge both her wanderlust and nostalgia. Don't get kidnapped again Avira! That was nuts!

Goug reminds her of home. Most slums do sort of look the same, after all. Also, she knows 7th Heaven is in this area somewhere, she's just sort of...lost her way. Uist is too tired from their battle to be of much use, and without him she's almost as directionally challenged as Reize. ALMOST.

Luckily, she has found a hot dog cart! So at least she's not lost and without provisions! "Hey there...can I get a hot dog?" she asks the man. He nods and reaches to get one, puts it in a bun, and hands it to Maira. She takes a bite, looking thoughtful. "Hmm...its kinda cold you know. I can warm them up for you!" she says, her eyes brightening with the urge to be helpful! "Here, let me see..." she says, ignoring the protests of the man, who has every reason to be completely alarmed right now.

Maira opens the little door to the compartment and channels a burst of fire, which promptly roars up with more power than she intended and takes off the alarmed man's eyebrows.

"Oh! Oh no I'm sorry! I can fix that!" she says, trying to reach for the poor guy who is desperately feeling for his glorious eyebrows, now singed!
Kaydin "Just like how you fixed Baron Castle. Atleast I am glad to see that you treat your enemies the same as your friends." Kaydin says as he approaches Maira, hand resting on the pommel of his sword as he approaches the woman. "I need to talk to you, about what you done." He says calmly, helmet hiding his face except for those detached eyes.
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr is rested after his...wild ride with the Princess.

Not that way you sickos.

Then came his time with Avira...and then the mess in Rabanastre with the Shadow Lord. He's only here in Goug because it's out of the way, and he can travel through darkness fast. Jasmine is in Avira's care for the moment while he gets some supplies...

And then there is Maria...being talked at by a familar puppy of a dark knight. Angantyr pauses, placing his bag of supplies over one shoulder and instead of getting involved...watches.

Garland told him to meditate on subtlety and patience. Today he does just that...
Maira Maira turns at the sound of Kaydin's voice, managing to summon all her indignation at his words, her shoulders squaring and her chin lifting. "You took my best friend. Did you not expect we'd come to get her back? And I can too fix this!"

She really can! Her materia begins to glow as she casts a cure spell aimed for hot-dog-cart-man. The greenish white energy washes over him, a soothing feeling filling his being, and perhaps more importantly, making his eyebrows grow back.

The man reaches for his eyebrows and strokes them lovingly. "My glorious eyebrows! O-okay...thanks for heating the dogs...and...yeah. Please go...over there now?" he says to Maira, pointing in the general direction of AWAY.

Maira sighs quietly, nodding as she walks away, presumably with Kaydin following. "What do you want Kaydin. Come to arrest me so your friend can humiliate me?"

She hasn't noticed Angantyr quite yet.
Kaydin "I expected you to come, but I had hope you wouldnt have come in and put lives in danger and destroy my home in the process. I had thought about returning the favor but given your ability to handle things, it seems you will destroy your own home within the week." Kaydin says coldly at her. "Maybe Aerith would like to know about how you endangered countless lives and tried to destroy a castle with you and your motley band." He says calmly.
Angantyr Vespar That was enough...

"The only one that endangered those people, was you and that *GOOSEHONK* of a white mage." Angantyr looks to the right, at a old woman with a goose. "Ma'am...could you..."

She nods.

"Thanks." he says to her, returning to Kaydin. "You did not inform your Lord, you obediately followed her OBVIOUSLY horrible order because..? Why? You have a thing for dark elves? Fine, whatever, but now you're blamin' a person who's only crime was to come and get her friend back...after you so incompetently lead us to her." he says, with a vicious grin.

"You are a pathedic escuse for a Dark Knight, and if I ever see you near Avira, or Jasmine, or Maira again...Or really anyone else I remotely acknowledge as friend, I'll break you." Like a kit-kat bar.

"Now go. Shoo."
Maira Sure Kaydin, pick on a young woman. That's totally brave and knightly. Maira balks. She can't believe what she is hearing. "Endanger lives!? No one would have had to come if you hadn't taken Avira! I didn't burn down your home, and I didn't and wouldn't burn down mine!" she says, her voice cracking a little. Okay, she's woken up with her bed on fire too many times to count, but she's never burned it down. Way to go touching on one of her deep fears!

"What does Aerith have to do with anything? Why don't you tell her how you took Avira against her will and let her be humiliated in Baron!" she replies, only to turn as Angantyr approached. Huh! Where'd he come from. If Uist were here she'd have known. Maira blinks as he jumps to her defense, looking embarrassed. "I...i...that's a little harsh, isn't it?" she asks Tyr. She holds herself very straight still, not wanting to back down. Not wanting to look weak.
Kaydin "I had let my lord know. As for why I followed her, it was because she is higher in rank and I have this little hobby of doing as I am told. No, you could have done better but you didnt and because of it, you and her and everyone who was there put more lives at risk all because you all had to use the most stupidest plan there was in your minds." He says before taking a breath. "Just because the both of you lost both your homes doesnt give any of you any reason to destroy mine and this is a promise, any of you step on Baron soil, I will not be as friendly as I am being now." Kaydin says with that detached tone of voice as he watches them both. He then looks to Angantyr. "You only seem to talk big when you have people backing you up or when your enemy has the disadvantage. If I am a pathetic excuse, then what does that make you? I am atleast willing to fight head on when overwhelmed. You cower behind your friends."

He then turns his attention onto Maira. "Your friend attacked her, humiliated her and beaten her down before I went and got her. How about you kidnap one of our soldiers and I destroy your headquarters to get them back, if you want things to be fair."
Angantyr Vespar Kaydin talks smack.

Angantyr grins, it is not pleasent...it is a very mean thing, a very powerful thing. "Oh you idiot. You're lord TOLD us nobody told him. He ranted and raved...you also assume we planned it out. I didn't know Maria was there, I didn't know the guy with the Keyblade was there...nor the shadow lord. You dragged her there so your boss could put her and pretty dresses and feel better about herself. No Kaydin." He says...and then he insults his honor.

The man, a noble, even as disenfranchised as he is...

He grins even broader. "Maria. Step back. Do not interfere." he says, and draws the mace. Instead throwing the bag of supplies to her.

"I went into Baron thinking I was going to assualt it alone...and you STILL had the advantage of numbers. The Entire castle vs us." he says, with a grin.

"BUT! RIGHT NOW! Bring it on you litthe pathetic puppy of a man! Come at me if you dare."
Maira "Plan? I just went, alone. Everyone else who came came on their own too! Maybe my plan was stupid, but don't insult my friends Kaydin. We didn't destroy your headquarters! When we left, Baron castle will still very much the fortress it is, with maybe some scorch marks and a missing curtain, WHICH I have every intent to return!" she informs him.

As for news of what Avira did to Morrighan, she just plain doesn't believe him. Yes, she is naive. She can't conceive of Avira doing something...dishonorable enough to warrant retribution like that from Morrighan.

"And don't worry, I won't be anywhere near Baron! If not for Sarafina and...and the glimpse of honor from Baigan, well--I'd think....I'd think very poorly of Baron indeed!" ....What a way to spin an insult Maira.

Ah, but a man's honor has been insulted, and soon she is being (gently) pushed back by Tyr and tosses a bag of supplies. She blinks, looking between Ang and Kaydin. "Ooh no. No no no...please don't do this...this is really not necessary..."
Kaydin "I came to talk. If you let a few words anger you enough to fight then you do the first strike. Dont hide behind your rules of honor when it benefits you." Kaydin says as he turns his back on Angantyr to look to Maira. "You all came alone with your own plans? I doubt it and if it was true, then you all have the brains of rocks. It is a good thing the heartless doesnt target those with brilliant minds or else the both of you would repel the things away."
Pixi Stepping out of Seventh Heaven, and ducking under the crossbeam for the door, Pixi sighs as she sees all that is going on with the pair of dark knights.....and the woman. She could hear them inside of the bar, not just because they were loud, but she has really really good hearing. She looks towards the three of them, sniffs quietly a couple of times, then shakes her head at them. However, if she manages to catch the eye of Maira, she gives her a light wave.
Angantyr Vespar The Mace hits the ground.

"...You seriously just said that bull*GOOSHONK*?" he looks back at the old woman with the goose who shrugs.

"Stay back." he says again to Maria and the new person.

And then he walks forward, right towards Kaydin until he is towering over him. Angantyr is a bear of a man, and he sneers...

"You insult my honor, and then you back down when I demand you back your words with deeds? What KIND of 'honorable' person are you?" he says, and then.. "I am a sell sword, and I have more honor...you pathetic escuse for a man." he says. And then...

Shadows move to grip Kaydin, aiming to drag him down, if he wasn't already there, and burn his body like cold flame.

The mace moves next, aiming to try and swipe across his legs, tearing apart armor and skin without mercy.

"Fine, I'll strike the first blow you coward."
Maira And he's calling her stupid. Really!? Really Kaydin!? Tears form in her eyes and spill down her cheeks. It is like when she was young and the other kids called her stupid. And Crazy. Here she was, thinking she'd come so far and still, someone was calling her stupid.

Meanwhile, Goose-Woman has bought a hot dog for herself AND her goose and both are eating while they spectate. "Why, this is the most interesting thing that has happened to me since the summer of...." insert trailing off into incomprehensible old woman babble.

Maira holds the bag of supplies she was tossed and steps back. "You are horrible," she says quietly to Kaydin.
Pixi Rubbing her face as the battle begins, Pixi shakes her head before walking around the battle that has begun between the dark knights. When she reaches Maira, which doesn't take too long. "Hello Maira." She says from behind Maira. "Lovely day isn't it?" She says ironically as the two Dark knights decide to battle each other.
Kaydin "Every action has an effect, Maira. Every action. You keep charging in, you will get hurt." Kaydin says before his eyes narrow and he leaps into the air, the mace grazing his leg as he looks to Angan. "I dont have time to fight you now, Vanish." He says before turning back to Maira. "I am sorry. That was uncalled for." He says as he watches the girl.
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr shakes his head...

The mace comes down...

"A coward and a fool I see. No, you will be gone. You are not welcome here, we do not want your consul, we do not want to see your face. You are a idiot, a fool, a coward, and an incompetant. You are a disgrace to everything you stand for." he says, and points with the weapon behind Kaydin.

"The time for talking is over. Now go, fight, or die."
Maira Maira looks back at Kaydin, her eyes still shiny with tears, but her voice is solid, surprising even to herself. "Yes, every action does," she agrees. She is going to stay out of this and be ready with healing magic when it is done, assuming no one comes along to try to stop this duel. What are the laws on dueling in Goug, she wonders?

When Pixi appears, Maira reaches up to wipe her tears. "H-hi....no, today sucks," she replies. Irony undetected.

To Kaydin's apology, Maira nods mutely.

She watches Angantyr, frowning gently. He means business.
Kaydin "You do like to hear yourself talk do you?" Kaydin asks Angantyr as he swings his sword and sends a dark energy blast for the man before bringing his sword down to try and overpower the man before bringing his sword back up, his attacks meant to try and break through his defenses as he focuses now completely on Angantyr.
Pixi Pixi sighs as she watches the fight it out. "I can tell, Maira." She then looks down to Maira. "What Kaydin says is true. Every action has an opposite reaction." She then places her hand upon Maira's shoulder. "Every action has consequences, however, if you do nothing, that also has consequences. Be yourself, maira. Don't let others tell you what you should and shouldn't do." She then looks to the dueling dark knights.....and keeps quiet on their comments.
Angantyr Vespar "So you chose DIE! Good! Maybe there is something of a spine in you yet!" Angantyr grins, before he swings the powerful mace around, aiming to try and smash the attack away...it is partially successful, the darkness waves cracks as he swings...the two darknesses challenging each other for supremacy before Angantyr's boulder in the stream prana shatters the attack...but a line of blood runs down the side of his cheak, as the wave of darkness still managed to lash out over him.

"Well!" he says, before the massive mace moves over his head, aiming to swing it down towards Kaydin, aiming to brain him even as the streak of dark energy runs behind him. The assualt doesn't end, as he then leaps up, aiming to try and tackle Kaydin to the ground, before sending the Mace down towards Kaydin's chest...trying to rip armor and flesh assunder with the talon like spikes.

"I do hope your fighting is worse than your pathedic bark!"
Maira What could she possibly do? They've traded insults, now they must trade blows. That's how it works with boys, she's seen it tons of times at the orphanage.

Maira looks up at Pixi, blinking. "They're not going to listen to me...can't expect a man not to defend his honor, especially two warriors," she responds, though she looks puzzled then. She's not sure where that opinion comes from...there is a glimmer of memeory, gone to fast to name, but the feeling of it remains.

"I just went to help Avira. I didn't know anyone else was going. I didn't burn down anything...but Uist was very angry," she says quietly.
Kaydin Kaydin tries to evade the braining and it breaks part of his helmet however being so close allows him to spin the sworn on the chain and bring it down on him before pulling the chain back as he is tackled. When he hits the ground he then begins to stab at the man with quick stabs, attempting to prove that if he got close, he will be stabbed.
Pixi Pixi looks to Maira. "Avira needed help? What did she need help with, Maira?" Pixi says softly. However, her 'imaginary friend' being angry with Maira makes Pixi perk her ears. "What happened, Maira. I'm all ears." She then smirks and looks up. "Well, you know what I mean."
Angantyr Vespar "Is this the best you can do? Where are your words now? Where is the White mage to heal you and keep you from my darkness?"

Angantyr's blade moves, parrying the storm of blows from Kaydin, deflecting them with the heavier weapon. Then, seeing the opening Kaydin leaves between strikes, he swings the weapon, the talon's driaming anything they touch, restoring him to life.

"Sigh...and here I thought you'd have more fight in you." he says...and then...

The darkness storms out from him, "I feel almost bad for showing you a glimpse of what I can do." and then...

The darkness from inside him wraps around his form...those who can sense the darkness can sense that it isn't coming from anywhere...but INSIDE. He was like a font of darkness, and the shadows merge into his armor, reenforcing his power. The armor, now more like full plate than the chain mail he normally wares, is pristine...but almost like the abyss. Staring at it is not something normal people ant to do. Whisps of darkness rise off of it as the helmet finally comes up. A sanguine glow coming from the inside...

"Come! You had best give me your best shot!"
Maira Maira sighs. She's going to have to tell the story. "Avira was captured and taken to Baron by Kaydin. That guy there. I didn't know why, I just know Baron is bad news...so, with Uist's help I snuck in to rescue her. Apparently, so did a bunch of other people, including Angantyr. The big tall one fighting Kaydin. It was a big giant mess, but we managed to get Avira out of there. She had a spell on her though...one that made her fight me. It was like a leash around her neck," she replies, unable to repress the shudder that passes through her. "When Uist saw that, he was very angry....then I was on fire and fighting and...I don't know. It is all kind of blurry, but I know I didn't burn the place down! I left with everyone else when Baigan said we should just go. He was...actually pretty awesome about it. I kind of feel bad for hitting him with a fireball now."

Maira's attention turns back to the battle then, her mouth dipping into a thoughtful frown as she watches Angantyr, FEELING the raw darkness that radiates from inside of him. It makes her feel cold inside. She knows there is light in him too, but he is a font of darkness when he fights. She can only wonder where it comes from.
Pixi "Mmmf." Pixi says after rolling her eyes. "Kaydin has his conflicts about Baron....so he says anyways." She then turns her eyes back to the battle, seeing the darkness being used. She shakes her head though, having no use for it herself. "At least Avira was taken out of Baron safely. She wasn't hurt, was she?"
Kaydin Kaydin watches the goings on and doesnt look too impressed by the darkness. He readies his sword and moves back, slashing at the air at him to send an black energy wave at him before spinning the sword on it's chain and hurls it at him, before pulling it back to hurl it once more. He focused on the fight at hand.
Angantyr Vespar The wave of energy hits, breaking across the new armor of darkness. The mace moves, but this time too slow to defect the attack, instead he dives in, allowing the blade to cut across his body a few times. He dives in, aiming to grip the man in the shadows once more, before they explode around him. Finally, a bit of blood starts flowing, it was a palpable hit that time.

"This is embarrasing." he says, as the darkness rolls off him again. The earth shakes breifly, And then he drops the mace...and dives towards Kaydin. The glow brightens in his eyes, as he moves to try and grab Kaydin with the newly formed claws, each one beastial, yet still armored as he moves to dig them into his flesh. Trying to draw blood and drain it into his own body...

The other blood that drips, however, is mixed with the darkness that spills out from his feet. Sanguine claws tear out from the darkness cloud, hundreds of them, and each one aims to tear Kaydin apart...
Kaydin Kaydin opens his eyes wider at those claws but he doesnt show no fear, just surprise as he tries to evade the attack only to be caught by one claw and is pulled down to the claws and is defeated once more it seems.
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr could kill the man right now...

Leave not wounded deer...but...

He turns, the darkness that became his armor shatters, slowly fading off of his body as he picks his mace up. Slowly, he moves towards Kaydin again...

He then holds a hand up, creating a portal of darkness. Baron can be seen on the other side...

"Why kill when shame is it's own reward." he says, and kicks Kaydin through with little love.
Maira Things have come to a head. Maira gets to her feet and starts running toward the fight, determined now to intervene. "Angantyr stop!" she calls, sliding to stand beside him. Really, no need to kick a man when he's down. For a good moment she actually thinks Tyr will kill him. When the portal opens, Maira looks relieved. She takes Tyr by the arm, looking toward Kaydin. "I'll heal you first," she informs him. "Both of you."

Then she casts, the cure magic washing over them to at least take away some of the sting of pain and wounds that will certainly need further attention.
Pixi Watching Maira go and heal both Angantyr and Kaydin, Pixi walks her way forward and actually picks up Kaydin, despoiting him on the other side of the portal. However, she looks back towards Angantyr. "Maira. Continue your healing him." But she glares at Angantyr. "You speak of honor, yet kick a man while he's down." All this while looking DOWN at Angantyr. "I suggest you think about what is honorable."
Angantyr Vespar "I could have taken his life." Angantyr says towards Pixi, "And that would have been honorable." he levels his look at the woman. He doesn't look like he's going to pick a fight...nah, Maira seems to like her, and that's something he's okay with.

"I kicked him to the portal so he could leave. I am sure he could crawl through under his own power." he says, calmly. The mace returns to it's holster on his back, as he picks up the pack of supplies.

"That man kidnapped one of my clan mates, and sat by while she put a collar spell on her...dressed her up like a maid...and then paraded her around dishonoring her? I say I have been more than honrable than he deserves."
Kaydin "Thank you, that will be enough." Kaydin says as he moves from Maira as he looks to Agantyr. He doesnt have any expression on his face as he looks to Pixi. "I dont deserve no pity." He says as he would look to the others.
Maira Maira is just so done. She doesn't want to hear any more harsh words. "Please," she appeals, "don't argue with each other. There is more story, and more people's whose sides haven't been heard. Lets just....leave it alone."

To Kaydin, Maira frowns. She thinks he has a lot to think about. Really, she doesn't think he's all bad, but she is still sore over the things he's said to her. "Just go home Kaydin."
Pixi Pixi shrugs a little bit at Angantyr. "You got her back, idnd't you?" She then looks to Kaydin. "This isn't pity, Kaydin. This is something for you to think about while you're in Baron. It's called kindness." She then turns around from Kaydin back to Maira. "Don't you have more than one clanmate too?" She says pointing to Maira. "You should think about how your actions affect your friends too." She then smiles a little to Maira. "Just giving both sides something to think about, Maira. We really shouldn't be fighting. It only brings Heartless around when we don't want them..."
Angantyr Vespar "That man works with the heartless." Angantyr points out, but he isn't accusing....it's matter of fact.

He looks at Maria, "She isn't in Clan Dadga." he says, calmly. "She's a friend of Avira, but I am not in that one." he again points out. However Maria asks for the argument to stop...and shrugging he simply shakes his head.

"Go home." he repeats.
Maira Now Maira is just kind of confused. Clan mate? Maira hasn't really had the chance to speak with Avira yet. They are long over due some girl talk! "Clan? You and Avira are part of the same clan? What does that mean?" she asks of Tyr. Of course, Tyr couldn't be part of VALKYRI. It's girls only! But he's certainly proving to be a friend, if a...troubled one. Maybe now she can get some more info about both him and Avira!
Kaydin Kaydin sighs as he stands upright and walks through through th portal.
Angantyr Vespar Kaydin leaves...and Angantyr shrugs his shoulders, as he finally basicly is seemingly next to uninjured...mostly thanks to Maira's magic.

"Dagda." he repeats, "Her original clan. I trained her how to fight." he says, a bit of pride in his voice. She was turning into a good warrior...then he turns to walk away.

"Goodbye Maira. Keep yourself safe."
Pixi Pixi shakes her head at them both, then walks her way back into Seventh Heaven. She had a little bit of work to do since Don Corneo was back in town.
Maira Maira blinks. What is clan Dagda!? "I. Uh. Okay!" she says. Darn! She was hoping to get information out of him! He taught Avira to fight? Well, no wonder Avira is so good!
Maira Oh, he's walking away. Hey. Stop that. "Wait wait! Bye Pixi!" she says, then runs to catch up with Angantyr. "Where are you going. What is clan Dagda?" Time for tons of questions from Maira. "Also, where are we going?" Because its we now, deal with it.
Kaydin Kaydin had walked into the bar seeming injured and looking like he been through several heartless or something with incredible dark powers himself. He remains silent however and moves to sit by a spot away from the light yet able to watch the goings on with little interest.
