No description.
Valencia Valencia is walking, or rather floating through the second district of Traverse Town, on her way to meet with a particular representative of the ShinRa Corporation, regarding an employment opportunity. Specifically, the youthful looking Sammy Colt, though she knows quite well that he's more than he appears. Just... Not necessarily what she's getting herself into. Arriving at the point, she pauses then says, "...Hello?" as her feet touch the ground, "This is the right place, right?.." she says to herself quietly.
Sammy Colt Sammy is late. Not very Turk-like, but it couldn't be helped. There was this thing, pudding and the inevitable explosions. Dodging around the corner, the Turk screeches to a halt as dust flies passed him. Adjusting his tie, Sammy stands himself upright and glances down at this sleeve, the small lump of a watch not visible through its fabric, yet he seems to be able to discern the time.
"Valencia, glad you could make it!" He says as he suddenly remembers the Tron helmet he was currently wearing and quickly tosses it to the side - a random alley cat meowling at the sudden impact of the helmet beside it.

"I take it you've chosen to assist in making the worlds better places via employment in ShinRa?"
Valencia "Well, yes." Valencia says, "Seems as though you have resources that I'd be able to make quite good use of. Not to mention technology that would be... Quite interesting to have access to. I'll have other duties at times that I'll have to balance, but ultimately you can consider me a reliable employee. That... And I hear sorcery is quite rare, too. I'd be willing to help you evaluate such a thing."
Sammy Colt "Well, we are one of the largest Corporations among the worlds and ShinRa's aptitude for advancement and development is well reknown for breaking the barriers of common understandings, so it would onyl make sense for an individual with such specialties, like what you have, would choose to grace our ranks with your gifts." He says with a smile. There's a pause and Sammy begins patting his suit before finally reaching into a sleeve and pulling out a datapad.
"As per company policy, we're required personal information and DNA samples to ensure that you are who you say you are, as well as to provide proper access to various sites via digital imprint." He states as he brings up a form for Valencia to fill out - it looks like it has the usual questions like age, height, weight, specialties, 'thoughts on human experiments', favourite cupcake flavour... The usual.
Valencia Valencia starts signing the datapad and says, "...Hm. Human experiments. Well, I suppose they're... Necessary at times, but generally to be approached with caution. No sense in killing or otherwise harming someone when you have a slower and safer way to do things. Though I wouldn't object to the use of say... Heartless, nonsentients, or corpses." before she tugs on a strand of hair and hands it to Sammy as she says, "This should work for the DNA sample. Now specialties... I guess I'm a jill of all trades, as far as things go. Magic, science, sorcery... Even a little bit of combat capability." she then hands the datapad back to Sammy and says, "There we are."
Sammy Colt Sammy gladly takes the hair, pops open a small round vial and places the follicle within before pocketing it. "Excellent! We'll run the tests in a short while. For now, we can allow you access to the lab." He pauses, "Under heavy guard, of course." He looks to the sides and leans in, "Some people are constantly trying to steal ShinRa's technology in hopes of using it for their own personal gain." He says with a nod - Sammy's probably drinking the ShinRa brand kool-aid, it would seem.

Placing the datapad in his pocket, Sammy places his shades on his face and looks away from Valencia. "Do you want to go to the HQ now, or shall I provide you with co-ordinates and you can find your way there later? We should have all the paperwork done in about a day or so."
Valencia "Oh, I'm sure you have good reasons for the guard." Valencia says, making a mental note to watch out for paranoid security, "I'd like to see the setup now. Probably best that I be seen accompanied by one of the... More distinguished employees of ShinRa, if there are such concerns."
Sammy Colt Sammy blushes a little, "Oh, I'm not as distringuished as most of the others, I'm rather new to my department..." He says before clearing his throat, "But nonetheless, I am a specialist!" He actually is...

"Alright, well, follow me, we're going to have to use a means of transportation that isn't the most comfortable." He says with a pause, remembering that time he got dropped out right in front of the Traverse Town train - that made his heart race alright..
Sammy Colt "That's the spirit!" Sammy says as he triumphantly turns around and begins walking towards the edge of town, to the west, towards a small mountain-side. "Follow me, and stay close. It might get weird." He says, almost like he was saying that the day may get windy.
Valencia "...Weird?" Valencia says as she floats along, "What do you mean by -weird- exactly? This isn't going to end up with me as some kind of a test subject, is it?"
Sammy Colt Sammy laughs, "Oh no. ShinRa doesn't test on their own employees unless the employee agrees to it through a verbal contract and signs multiple forms." Sammy pauses, "Or breaks one of the laws, or experiments on themselves, or is a member of SOLDIER..." Mr. Colt laughs nervously, "But you're none of those, so nope, no experiments." He says with a tell-tale 'I really hope this doesn't go wrong' sound to his voice.

"It's just still not stable. We've been able to give a basic tradjectory, but there are some glitches when it comes to controlling this sort of thing." Sammy states as they begin to close with the face of the mountain.
Valencia "...Is there any way to modify it from here?" Valencia says, "Whatever it is, I might be able to help you out with it, depending on how it's made."
Sammy Colt "Actually, not really. We've got some stabalizers in place on this end, but the main system is back at the HQ." Sammy says with a shrug as he nears the wall and presses a switch against the rock face, causing the mountain to slide open a door originally concealed. Within can be heard a strange whirling noise as well as the feeling of an energy pulse.

"Don't worry. It's perfectly safe." Sammy says confidentally.
Valencia Hearing the noise, Valencia approaches slowly and says, "...Some sort of energized transportation system? Interesting, I'll have to take a look later." before she opens the door, apparently... Not entirely prepared for what she might see.
Sammy Colt The swirling black portal before them seems like it's in not too happy about being forced open. It shudders and the equipment around its contours all creak with strain, but after a moment, it seems perfectly stable, only the strange suction sensation and the whistling of the wind being drawn in fill the room.

"We found these anomallies a while ago and were able to construct devices that allow us to use them at our leisure." Sammy says, neglecting to mention about the times the transporation has ended with some serious setbacks - but those were all in the past...

"Hold your breath and jump in, make sure you're eyes are closed or else you're going to lose your lunch." He says with a pause before getting ready to hop in. "Speaking of which. I think I'm going to have a pastrami sandwhich!" He exclaims before offering Valencia the pleasure of going first.
Valencia Valencia holds her breath and skates forward quite quickly without hesitation as she closes her eyes and says, "Well, in we go!" before finally entering the portal.
Sammy Colt The darkness swirls about them and within what feels like an eternal instant, they are on the other side - inside a large laboratory with huge machines setup around another large, black, swirling gate. Some ShinRa troops are there, weapons at the ready as the two jump through.

"Sammy Colt, reporting. New potential employee. Send this to Rufus." He says rather authoritively to one of the grunts before handing off the pad and the vial. There's a salute and the courier runs off.

"Valencia, welcome to ShinRa HQ." Sammy says as he displays his arms wide, showing off the portal room for her.

It's a rather amazing sight. With all the machines, dials, guards, energy vortex and what appears to be a Heartless contained in a giant cell, the room does very little to diguise exactly how advanced ShinRa actually is.
Valencia Looking up at the shadow in the cage, Valencia seems surprised as she says, "...You actually did it. I'll have to see if I can examine any other samples you find, possibly perform some quite detailed examinations on them." she then pauses before looking at the heartless, then at the cell as she says, "Power transference, elemental in nature but... Not quite. It's almost like a standard magical energy transfer system but there's... Something else. I can't quite put my finger on it."
Sammy Colt "Yeah, it fluctuates between magic energy and something else. We're not entirely sure and it wreaks havok on our current systems. We're trying to develop a way to categorize the energy output, but our tools keep falling short. At the best, we can track surges in the worlds to know where the Heartless could potentially be, but sometimes we wind up running into just an old lady or some big dog-thing... Not perfect, but it's a start." Sammy says as he presses his sleeve against a palm print identifier and the light goes green.

"Alright, let me show you to your lab." He states, offering Valencia passage towards R&D
Valencia Valencia lands and follows Sammy as she says, "...Hm. I wonder what would happen if a subject's heart became saturated with light. Hypothetically, a transformation similar to yet more benign than the heartless corruption might occur. Though that's completely hypothetical, and the heartless are a far more imminent threat and thus warrant higher priority research."
Sammy Colt "Preciesly!" Sammy says enthusiastically as they move through the belly of the lab. Tubes of creatures, objects, mechanical things, and humanoids pass by their view as Sammy spouts on about the various research they've done - which boils down to the scientific equivalent of 'poke it with a stick' and 'use what it inherently does, but twist it to be a benefit'. Typical ShinRa.
Valencia "Interesting." Valencia says, "...Hm. Slightly intelligent you say. This may be due to the fact that the heart is fundamentally emotional, and that intellect is a product of emotion, of associations and reactions in relation to each other. The connections we have, the feelings we have, form ideas and give us life. In essence... It might be argued that they're more alive than some of us, even if they're filled with the malice that can come with life. Hypothetically, the larger ones might retain a greater amount of intelligence, with more and more powerful and perhaps severely mutated forms."
Sammy Colt "Which is why it is imperative that we capture a large one." Sammy notes as he stops in an empty lab. Some tables, two large human-sized tubes and a bunch of monitoring equipment have been readied for use, but there seems to be little else in the room. Safe for three heavily armed guards, of course.

"This will be your lab. Do with it as you will. We'll be keeping tabs on your research. If you need anything, just contact myself, Rufus or any of the other staff and we'll try our best to get you outfitted."

Sammy taps his chin. "If you find yourself bored, in the ShinRa HQ, we've installed some new tech that I'm running some tests on - it's pretty fascinating. I wouldn't mind a second opinion." He states with a smile, "It's that porject I talked about earlier."
Valencia "Digitization." Valencia says, "That could be interesting... I'll probably have to construct a device to capture a heartless or at least weaken one for in-field analysis. Your holding facilities seem to be adequate..." she says before a thoughtful look appears on her face as she says, "Although... I'd like to see if I can make sense of that computer system you mentioned."
