Valencia Though it may not be obvious to some, a new arrival has come to Traverse Town. Specifically, Valencia diChiaroscuro, young sorceress, scientist, and in general student of whatever knowledge might be available to her. A small automaton in the form of a bird rests on her shoulder, chirping quietly and hopping about apparently trying to wake her up. Though as she's sitting in the belfry of the church, that might not be necessary shortly...
Auron Hmf. Churches. They remind Auron of uncomfortable things. He... tends to have a rather negative view of organized religion has a whole, thanks to the Church of Yevon and all their lies. But he has a reason for being in here. Something above startled one of the nuns, and as she ran out, she quite literally ran into Auron. Being something of a trouble-shooter since coming to Traverse Town, he agreed to help.

It didn't make the knowledge of what this place was any easier. Good thing he's not a typical undead-thing, or that cross would be burning him. Or something. That's what he's heard, anyway. But then, those old stories aren't always true. And besides, there's something else to concern himself with. What's up there in that belfry?

He pauses, listening, and hears the barely-there chirping of a bird. Could that be all that startled the nun? Surely not. She'd know that birds get up in old church belfries all the time, right? It's time to investigate! So he makes for the belfry himself. Auron's boots make distinctive sounds, even on the carpeted floor, as he makes for the quickest route up to the church belfry.
Valencia Suddenly, the bell goes off. BONNNNG! BONNNG! BONNNG! sounding three PM as Valencia wakes up and says, "No! Giana! then falls over thankfully, into the belfry and hits her head with a, "Wagh!" and looks around saying, "Ugh..." before recovering her glasses from the floor and standing up, dusting herself off as she says, "Where... Am I?" before she gestures with her hand as a flash of magic appears around her feet and she sits down in the air, "Hm... Definitely not the arcane academy." she says to herself.
Auron The going off of the bells in the church draws a grunt from Auron. He's on his way up when it happens, so he's not /literally/ underneath the bells. But it still hurts; his hearing is very good. It might not be /now/, mind. After shaking his head slightly to clear it of the ringing, he heads the rest of the way up. And what does he see?

A purple-haired girl with glasses, sitting in the air. Okay. That is very much not a bird in the belfry.

She'll probably see him coming up into the belfry. He's not exactly the most inconspicuous man in the world, with that red coat on.
Valencia Looking over at Auron, Valencia shifts in the air and says, "Hm... Mid 30s, decently strong... Well-disciplined from the size of your sword compared to your body and your reserved appearance..." before her bird chirps and flies over towards Auron, shifting back and forth a bit as though it's not sure whether to approach him or stay away from him, "...And quite conflicted, I must say. You're a curious one." before she straightens herself up and floats to the ground saying, "...But do you know where either of us are? That's the real question now isn't it?"
Auron Auron raises the brow of his remaining eye as she speaks. And he fixes a look on the bird flying over, too. What is /that/? Some sort of machina? He has a flat, unreadable expression on his face. Guarded, as if he's not quite sure what to make of her. Which he isn't. But unless she starts talking about his state, he won't bother with that.

However, if their current location is her real question, he can answer that. "...Traverse Town. This is its church." He keeps his response short for now. No sense in dropping the Exposition Bomb unless she asks for it.
Valencia "And quiet." Valencia says, "Well, I suppose that goes with the reserved look. Now... I'd like to know what just happened." before she starts to look a bit sad and says, "...Was I dreaming? Giana, she... Something came out of her. Something dark. At first she had control, but then... It controlled her."
Auron And there goes that eyebrow, at the mention of 'quiet'. Then he closes that eye, giving an amused and slightly wry 'hmf'. It was always funny to him when someone called him 'quiet' -- Jecht used to complain that he never shut up. Nonetheless, her description of what happened draws the little bit of levity to fade.

At her description, he nods once, slowly. "...If you're here, your world was broken," Auron replies. "...Yours wouldn't be the only one. Traverse Town seems to be where those displaced by their worlds breaking end up." He doesn't answer the question of whether she was dreaming or not... or what might have come out of this 'Giana'; he doesn't know, and she doesn't need conjecture right now.
Deidra Deidra is a bit groggy it's late from her body clock's point of viw but the young Gargyole has accepted how crazy her sleeping has got since the worlds opened up. It's also this was a town of darkness so she really slept at strange times. She's just felt the need to wnader into the chruch really? She can't wander into one in Manhattan to seek some peace. She'd likely get holy water thrown at her when she thought about it. That did make her laugh a little bit. She takes it slow however as she enters looking around for a moment "Hello? Is anyone here?"
Valencia "Broken." Valencia says, "So... Then it's gone. My family and friends... The academy..." as she looks increasingly saddened by her realization of what happened before the automaton flits over to her shoulder and lets out a metallic hum, perhaps not unlike a pigeon cooing. She smiles sadly and strokes the automaton's back before she says, "...And I never even knew what those creatures were. Some... Looked like black ants with yellow eyes... Except they almost looked human too. Others looked like ragdoll soldiers with bloodied claws." she then shivers and says, "They didn't even look alive. It was like they were... Corpses. No emotion, no thought... Just mindless destruction. Malice without reason."
Auron Valencia's explanation finally prompts a reaction from Auron. As she speaks, he remains silent. Black ants with yellow eyes, but almost looked human? Ragdoll soldiers with bloody claws? He frowns, his remaining eye narrowing. And he speaks a single word, barely murmured, half-under his breath.

"...Heartless."

And then the call of a voice reaches his ears. He turns his head, listening a moment. Steps. A moment later, he looks to the purple-haired girl again. "...Wait here." He's intending to see if it's safe first. That said, he descends from the belfry again, looking to where the voice might have come from.

Auron has... actually never seen a Gargoyle before. His one-eyed gaze moves to Deidra, assessing her for threat potential. Wings. Claws. Spurs. Auron tenses. Though he doesn't attack. He wants to see the female creature's intent first....
Deidra Deidra is showing signs she's civilized at the very least, from the look of her clothing, or she might have stolen it who knows. Still she's not looking for a fight, She's got no visable weapons other than her natural ones. She stops for a moment and peers at both of them for a moment. "That is certainly heartless from the sounds of it." She over heard it. "I didn't think anyone would be in here now and easy I'm not looking for a fight. You think I'd get around the city much if I was?" She gives Auron a bit of a look, she knows the look he's giving her all too well. "Never seen a member of the second race before have you? I'm a Gargyole, names Deidra."
Valencia "Gargoyle?" Valencia says, apparently snapping out of her depression a bit quickly at the curious creature before her. "Hm... Well, and I thought -he- was interesting." before she smiles and looks over at Deidra, peering about her and saying, "Interesting. Winged... Possibly magical." then reaches out to grab Deidra's hand and says, "But flesh... I wonder if you bleed. Certainly the word, 'Gargoyle' would imply that you don't. Though it also implies that you're a protector of holy sites, with a ferocious visage to ward off evil spirits. But then, we are in a church after all."
Auron By the way the female is talking, she doesn't appear to be a threat. At least, not an immediate one. And the female seems to know about the Heartless too, so maybe she'll have some information for the purple-haired girl. 'Second race'? He raises the brow of his remaining eye. "...You don't look much like a Ronso," he notes. Mainly because he /doesn't/ expect her to know what one is. He's looking to impress that the 'second' race in her world may not exist at all in others.

And then the purple-haired girl mentions something interesting -- a protector of holy sites? That gets some attention. And so does the purple-haired girl's manhandling of 'Deidra'. The scientific type, eh? She'd get a kick out of Maechen, wouldn't she? Though he offers little more than an amused 'hmf'.
Deidra Deidra says "That's about all the humans of my earth remeber about us. That we are protections by nature at least most are." She shrugs a little bit but peers for a moment "not really just good at glyding. Yes I bleed and I like to keep my blood inside me thank you very much." She nods for a moment "There are three self aware races on my world. The first race is humanity, the second race is mine the gargyoles and the third race is Oberon's Children. Better known as the Fair Folk. Mine are so rare we're a myth, the latter is so good at belendiong in no one would know they were there, unless they revealeed their nature. I came here to find some peace and rest for a time. Seemed like a good place they tend to welcome anyone here whose not seeking a fight or is the spawn of the darkness. Also what's a Ronso?"
Valencia "Mm... Fair folk, also known as faeries. Possibly spelled a variety of ways, same creature though." Valencia says, "Capricious and magical, sometimes held to be thieves of children but... Well, that's remained largely unproven. They have been responsible for a good deal of minor mishaps though. Nothing serious, just magically tying your shoes together or stealing a marble or two from a child's game."
Auron All this is a little beyond Auron. Okay, it's a /lot/ beyond him. Magic was no great thing to consider in his world; there didn't need to be creatures /made/ of magic in Spira. There were, mind... but they were fiends. So he's stayed quiet, just taking in all this information.

Until he's asked what a Ronso is. Then he answers, "...A race of what you might call 'anthropomorphic felines'. They have blue fur and a horn on their foreheads. Prideful, quick to anger. But none more loyal when you earn their trust."
Deidra Deidra looks for a moment "Fair more dangerous than simple trickster their magical ability is quite potent and dangerous should you cross one." She pauses getting a very different image in her head really. She's thinking Japanese cat boys and cat girls. She simply nods and doesn't say much more on the mattter other than. "I see." She looks back to Valencia for a moment.
