Nothing Wrong Here
(2013-07-08 - 2013-07-09)
A perfectly ordinary happenstance, nothing at all out of the ordinary here.
Minette Odam Minette said she was 'going for a walk'. This is code for 'I'm going to blow off Seloria then claim 'I'm Minette, I'm so wacky' later so I don't have to put up with her'. It is occasionally useful being a ditz, it lets you get away with things that people wouldn't tolerate in others. Or at least people won't look at you as askance afterwords.

And so Minette has taken it upon herself to go to Costa Del Sol. It doesn't remind her of home, not /really/, not the parts of Leviathan she frequented anyway, but it does have the ocean and Minette finds this somewhat comforting. Minette is in her bathing suit, walking along the beach at sunset. Her new pendant is hanging from a small silver chain around her neck, and she's staring down at it as she walks along, the waves lapping at her feet. She is, naturally, not looking where she is going but this is Minette and she almost never holds her head high, normally looking at the ground in front of her with slouched shoulders.
Seloria Delacreaux It's hard to blow off Seloria when you're meandering along the beach she calls home in this new, strange world, Minette. Carrying a covered plate - that is cooling off, but still nice and warm, Seloria squints. Is that--

"Minette?" She calls out, scurrying down the pathway.

She attempts to stop just short of her, but -- it's Minette and Seloria. "I was about to try to find the ship for your dinner..."
Minette Odam Minette starts at the sound of her name, head snapping up, foot missing a beat aaaaaaaaaaaand... pfoompf. Minette's arms pinwheel and she looses her balance, falling straight on her butt with a splash. Bells jingle on the way down. "M'oka--ACK! PLHLP! HAUCK!" And then a wave rolls in and /saltwater in her mouth ugh/.

Minette sighs, because the world clearly hates her even when she's on a different one, and she picks herself up out of the surf, but not before getting slapped in the face by a second wave. Minette stands there, dripping. She is, at least, already in a bathing suit. "... ... hi." She greets.
Seloria Delacreaux "Minette!"

"Are you ok--" Minette gets a wave to the face, not once, but twice, and Seloria just... shuts up for about a minute while she avoids laughing - barely. "... hi." She responds back. "Um. Would you like a towel?" Selly finally offers. "And food?"
Minette Odam Minette would like a dignity. But seeing as she isn't about to be handed that on a whim she instead says, flatly, "Go ahead and laugh." Almost unconciously, she reaches up and touches the pendant around her neck; the smooth crystal reminds her of Souji. Souji wouldn't laugh. "I think I'll do the food thing, yeah. Thanks."
Seloria Delacreaux "I don't think I can laugh. I mean, it is, um, you know, funny, but everyone can get tossed around by waves, even if they're the most famous swimmers or most athletic people." Selly offers her opinion, before she offers the covered plate out at Minette.

"There's utensils in there, I made two different batches of fish, one with a herb butter and one more traditional since you said you didn't care."

Selly is no Alma - perfect cook. Selly is no Kyra - oh god don't eat her cooking. Selly is no Rena - reverse cook - looks bad but is good. She's just a cook. No tropes here.
Minette Odam Minette accepts the plate and jerks her head with a smooth motion away from the water. Oddly, this motion produces no bell jingles. The accountant leads on. "If you want to laugh, you should laugh. At least it'd be more honest then not laughing. If something's funny, it's funny. Moralizing at it won't change that."
Seloria Delacreaux Seloria shakes her head, before she chuckles. "No bells?" She asks, curiously, noticing the silence. She knows she gave Minette some, so she's actually sort of curious as to far as where they went--

Although they probably rust, so maybe she's just not weraing them so they stay together longer.
Minette Odam "Eh?" Minette asks, half turning. "Oh, no. They're there." She reaches up and grabs a braid, giving it a shake to produce jingling. "One of the most important things a sailor can learn is how to move gracefully enough that her bells don't make any noise!" Minette says proudly. "It's tradition." Among those that didn't adopt the Ramuha ways, at least. Those that still lived on the ships and worked the waves instead of laying on a beach next to them.

Minette flumps down on a beach blanket. There isn't a second one for Seloria, so Minette scoots over a little, making some room. She lifts the plate's lid and goes to town without much fanfare. She says prayers using her 'inside voice' while she's eating; that's just the way she does things.
Seloria Delacreaux Selly, not being wet, is more than willing to sit on sand so that Minette does not get a sandy butt. As such, she just quietly watches the ocean, her head tilted to the side as she listens to Minette eat.

"I didn't know you were sailor-trained!" She thinks to note.
Minette Odam "Whah Levitanih ihhent?" Minette asks rhetorically, with a mouthful of food. She gulps. "One bell for each season spent on the waves!" Minette shakes her head rapidly, sending well over two dozen bells jingling. It's hard to grab an accurate count, they're tiny bells and they're spred throughout her braids. That's years she's spent on a boat. Years. "Soon I'll start replacing the plain bells for seasons with gold ones for years. And, oh, oh, oh, I'll actually be able to afford real gold ones instead of faux gold ones. Isn't that great?"
Seloria Delacreaux Seloria smiles broadly when she hears the bells ringing. It is a happy sort of smile. "I er.. wasn't quite brought up as traditionally as a lot of us were..." She admits. "I spent a lot of time swimming, but not with sailor training."

She then gives the other girl a warmer smile. "That's great!"
Minette Odam 'No, you were brought up rich and spoiled' Minette thinks but doesn't voice. She smiles awkwardly, shoveling fish into her mouth so she doesn't have to fake it as much. "S'not really... training. It's just... life." Minette offers between bites. "I mean, the other continents make jokes about Levitani being born on boats, but... I really was."
Seloria Delacreaux Not as rich as you might expect, Minette. Seloria looks at Minette for awhile, her eyebrow arching as she comprehends that statement. "That... must have been an interesting birth." She says, finally, completely, utterly honest.
Minette Odam "Meh, I don't really remember it, to be honest." Minette replies, with equal sincerity.
Seloria Delacreaux "You don't, but everyone on board that night probably does!" Selly replies, shaking her head with a giggle.
Minette Odam Minette cants her head to the side, amidst a jingling of bells. "I guess." She hadn't thought of it like that. "I'm pretty sure it was just her and dad."
Seloria Delacreaux "Oh.. my, that must have been really interesting, huh." Seloria lays down in the sand, uncaring about it getting EVERYWHERE as sand does. "Well, I'm glad you're here, Minette." She says, softly. "It's nice to have someone else who remembers all of that."
Minette Odam "Maybe." Minette shrugs. Sand is as sand does. It's everywhere, you get used to it. "...I wish we had more Levitani around that remember what home was really like." She says this with a mild grump in her tone.
Seloria Delacreaux Seloria can't help but flinch slightly at the grump and the phrasing of the sentence. "m'sorry?" She offers up, awkwardly. "That I don't remember how it really was? But what I know of it, I loved it."
Minette Odam "S'just... Aeschere spent most all her life on Chocobo, or so I gather, and Jidro's upbringing wasn't... normal..." Minette shrugs.
Seloria Delacreaux "I mean... most of us /weren't/ normal, Minette." Seloria says. "I -- mean, look at Mister Murasame, Nik's training, Helena's life... we all had something crazy."
Minette Odam "Yeah, I know." Minette replies. Most of them grew up rich and pretty and popular and as a result they do nothing but complain about how /terrible/ it was and don't appreciate the things that they had. Nik's upbringing made him physically fit, self confident, and one of the most powerful individuals on the planet and it was /so aweful/. Crybaby. It just makes Minette so frustra--

0Thou shouldst hold his head under the water until breath escapes him.

Minette's head jerks upwards. She blinks twice, then looks around. And then at Seloria. "Did you... say something, just now?"
Seloria Delacreaux Minette grew up to be a mathmatical wizard of sorts with a very pretty frame and a mean head for business. Seloria tilts her head as Minette jerks and then blinks, before she shakes her head.

"Um..."

"No?" Blink. "Are you okay?"
Minette Odam "Y-yeah." Minette replies, glancing around. "Yeah, I just... guess I up and ate too fast. Fish headache?" Is that even possible.
Seloria Delacreaux Seloria opts not to question it. "Absolutely!" She says, agreeably.
Minette Odam "Yeah." Minette replies, inhaling and exhaling deeply. This goes on for a few moments. "I'd... I'd better go. Thanks for the fish, it was good."
Seloria Delacreaux "Okay." Seloria says, agreeably. "Have a good night, Minette." She gives her a smile then rolls to her feet.
Minette Odam Minette leaves the plate on the blanket. And she leaves the blanket, too, just getting up and muttering out a distracted, "Yeah, you too." Before she ambles off across the beach. That was odd, but then again, Minette is pretty odd.
Seloria Delacreaux "... kay." Selly says, gathering the plate and blanket and heading off to her room.
