Mixandrette, The Fell And Terrible
(2013-07-07 - 2013-07-08)
The brave Sir Thirza goes off to slay a dragon and save distraught damsels... or... not.
Minette Odam Minette's office on-board the Ame-no-Torifune is currently /not/ Minette's office.

"For I am the fearsome dragon, Mixandrette, MWA HA HA!" Minette exclaims, sitting on top of her desk instead of at it. There is a small pile of gil on her desk that she was counting, as well as a plate of cookies. Minette currently has one (cookie, that is) in her hand... held like a claw. "My reign is terrible, my rage is unfathomable, and none can slay me for I am armored about with hard scales encrusted with precious jewels!" Mixandrette shakes the ginger-bread cookie around somewhat savagely. "And now you, Princess Kyra, have incurred my wrath and your shall suffer a dire fate, indeed!"

Minette's voice goes falsetto in a bad imitation of Kyra Hyral's, "No, you are wrong, I am loved by everyone and surely some brave knight will save me, or even the great and powerful summoner, Lady Seloria!"

Mixandrette roars a haughty and dismissively laugh. "Lady Seloria can not save you, for I have already devoured her! AH HA HA HA HA!"
Thirza Ingersleben Thirza is en route to Minette's office when she hears Minette shouting about something. Since it isn't Minette's typical cry for help or yelp because she's startled, Thirza approaches the office more slowly. She creeps toward the door cautiously and presses her ear against it, as her curiousity gets the better of her.

Thirza cautiously balances the fresh plate of gingerbread cookies she was bringing in the hand opposite the door.
Minette Odam "You monster!" Cookie-Kyra squeaks, "I'll defeat you myself by conforming to non-conformist counter-culture because daddy loved Alma more and using the power of Mogstep!"

"Non-syncopated beats can never defeat me!" Mixandrette proudly declares, before the sounds of nomming can be heard, loudly, from the other side of the door.
Thirza Ingersleben It is at this point that Thirza puts too much weight against the door, which is not fully secured. It pops open and Thirza stumbles, trying to balance the cookies so she doesn't dump them. She succeeds at that part, but not without cost: Thirza lands soundly on her backside in the middle of the floor in front of "Mixandrette".

"Oh, um, hi Minette," Thirza says, looking at her with an awkward smile. "I brought you more cookies." A pause. "...who's Mixandrette?"
Minette Odam Minette looks up from nomming on a gingerbread cookie's head in what would be considered far too aggressive a manner for polite company. Cookie still in mouth, her face goes a bright scarlet. There's a solid minute where no body says anything.

Minette swallows, slowly. And then says, quietly, "... ... ...a dragon."
Thirza Ingersleben Thirza looks at Minettte for a moment as she climbs to her feet. She sets the cookies onto the desk with Minette casually, as though nothing weird was going on. It's after that that she speaks up.

"--um. Are you Mixandrette, Minette? Is this some sort of game you're playing while on break?"
Minette Odam "... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... yes."
Thirza Ingersleben Thirza steps over toward the door and pushes it closed, checking to make sure it's properly closed and secured this time. She turns back around, looking at Minette with dreadful seriousness.%r
"---that's awesome!! I can't um, join you, can I?" Thirza looks hopeful.
Minette Odam Minette stares at Thirza for several long moments. She distinctly makes the 8< face at her. Then, with color still in her cheeks, she replies, "Y... you'd need some kind of dragon-name."
Thirza Ingersleben "--well I don't have to if you don't want me to," Thirza says, twiddling her thumbs a little nervously. I just thought it might be fun." She looks away. "Oh, um. A dragon name...hmm. I'd have to think about that one..."

"--what's Mixandrette doing, anyway?"
Minette Odam "Well... dragons have like... Xs in their name, a lot. And tend to replace Is with Ys, so... that's a... thing." Minette fidgets on her desk. "She's... being a terrible dragon, and... doing dragon things like... kidnapping maidens and eat them... and such..."

Minette slides down off of her desk and abruptly changes the subject. "SO! How did the spying go?" Minette does not want to know, her world has already been Ruined Forever but at least it can't be any more awkward then pretending to be a dragon.
Thirza Ingersleben "Oooh, well that makes sense," Thirza says pleasantly, not drawing attention to what she overheard about the dragon conveniently eating Kyra and Seloria. She frowns a little when Minette changes the subject.

"Oh, well," Thirza thinks for a moment. "Well, really badly, to be quite honest. I kind of like Alma, which I think is why Mister Murasame wanted me to talk to--you know, because she'd have her guard down." Thirza sighs. "And she said a lot of really serious things that got me thinking a lot, but I'm doing to do some more research before I really buy into them."

Thirza droops, then sighs. "It really didn't go well. I don't want to talk a lot about it."
Minette Odam Minette's mouth screws up in a frown. "I don't know... I'm starting to think that there might be something to what Helena says about her. Like yesterday, was sitting there telling us what terrible people we are for wanting to talk to the Empire of Vector about recovering a world shard that fell into their borders, because they're a military-dictatorship police-state that conquers their neighbors... and she lives in and works for /Archades/."

Minette slaps both her hands on the sides of her head, then flings them upwards expressively, her expression suggesting a statement of 'guh-doy'.
Thirza Ingersleben hirza frowns a bit. "Yeah...I don't get it," she admits. "...Archades is really scary, by the way, I don't know why anyone needs so many soldiers all over the place. Or what Alma wants to do with them. It's weird."

Thirza moves around to sit on Minette's desk, being careful not to sit on the plate of gingerbread cookies.
Minette Odam Minette picks up a cookie and shoves the better part of it into her mouth, gnawing at it loudly. After taking a swallow, she attempts to shift the conversation around to something mildly less depressing (for Thirza, at least). "So how did you... /other/... spying go." On Kamon.
Thirza Ingersleben "Oh," Thirza droops. "He's kind of hard to keep up with." She hasn't actually tracked him down yet, in other words. "But I did learn he'd just been patched up when he was staying over there--" A pause. "There wasn't anything funny going on, I mean," Thirza blushes. "You know, they weren't--"

"Uhh, anyway. I think maybe there's something going with Kyra and him, but I don't think they're like, super serious? I'm going to look into it more--"

Thirza droops. "I hope not though. I really want that to work out for you. You really deserve someone nice and handsome."
Minette Odam "...oh." Minette replies. That was... less soul-crushing then she anticipated. But then, after talking with Helena whom also spied on Kyra for her... frmph. Okay, so that did turn out to be somewhat soul crushing. "I don't... I don't think you need to worry about tracking him down anymore. Prrrrrrrobably for the best, there."

She goes around her desk and wraps her noodle-arms around Thirza, giving the taller girl a hug. "Thank you, though. It's very sweet of you to say that." Even if it isn't true.
Thirza Ingersleben Thirza smiles brightly, returning the hug. "Aww. It's okay....sorry I couldn't be more help, Minette." She gives the shorter girl a squeeze. "I'll keep an eye out for you when I'm scouting, huh? Maybe I can find you an even better catch..."

Thirza trails off, but she seems determined enough to do it. It will undoubtedly fail miserably.
Minette Odam "Maybe..." Minette says glumly, but internally she figures, if I'm not good enough for Kamon Lionward, how could I be good enough for someone better? She doesn't give voice to this particular complaint, though, stating instead, "Maybe people are right. Maybe I should just settle for being a lesbian."
Minette Odam "Nothing." Minette replies, pulling away. "It's just a... stupid thing that people say." A pause. "Used to say." Minette collapses into her chair, leaning backwards. She heaves a sigh, reaching for another cookie... need a new topic, need a new topic, need a ne-- "OH!" Minette exclaims, sitting up suddenly. "I didn't get a chance to show it to you, yet!"
Thirza Ingersleben "Oh," Thirza says, blinking. "Okay. That's a little weird. Anyway." Thirza doesn't say anything further on the topic. It is mysterious.

"Show me what?"
Minette Odam Minette tugs at the silver chain around her neck, pulling up out of her shirt a small pendant made out of blue crystal. As she holds it up to let it dangle, it catches the light dazzlingly, sending blue hues rippling across the walls and other surfaces. There is a sense of depth, looking into that pendant, a feeling of the ocean breeze on one's face, of the smell of salt, and of vastness. There is something of a mystical quality to looking up it, a practice that can only truely be described as 'an experience'.

Minette tucks it back into her shirt and the office returns to mundanity. "Isn't it beautiful? Mr. Murasame gave it to me!"
Thirza Ingersleben "Ohhhh, that's gorgeous!" Thirza says, staring at it in wonder for several moments. This sort of spectacle isn't something familiar to Thirza, who grew up as poor as Minette did. That makes it even more spectacular.

"He must think you're doing a really great job!" Thirza says. "--which is great, because you are!"

Thirza converses briefly on the Linkpearl. "Oh...right. I guess I should look into that...and the pizza thing..."
Minette Odam "He DOES!" Minette says, getting up to do a little twirl. It knocks a bunch of papers off of her desk. "...gwah!" She starts picking up papers, placing them back on her desk. She keeps talking. "He even called me into his office and told me himself! In person! He had to take the time to do that, he's so awesome-sauce!"
Thirza Ingersleben "That's so great! ...I guess I should work harder, then," Thirza admits, looking away for a moment. "Um. ...on that note, I should probably get going. I'll be back later, Minette!" And so, Thirza zooms out the door.
Minette Odam "You can do it Thirza! Remember... REACH FOR THE TOP!" Minette punctuates this by thrusting a fist into the air, hitting her hand on the low cieling and scattering papers all over the place again. "...owwie..."
