Emi Dennou Emi Dennou got a part time job in Deling today, finishing up--in fact--some work just now at the car rental place, wiping some oil off with a rag. She's wearing, naturally, a uniform with overalls and seems to be taking a break. She meets up with Shida outside, who has been waiting for unknown reasons--and they engage in silent conversations because, well, they don't need to TALK in order to talk.

Emi had, at some point, left Ang a message inquiring if they could 'spend some time together', but has otherwise not approached him since the

BETRAYAL
BETRAYED ME
WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH X-COM?
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr appears in Deling after a fassion.

The worlds don't change much for the Dark Knight here...a bit of a armor update, to look slightly more modern. Other then that, he's a known mercinary, and one that hasn't pissed off Deling...that doesn't mean they aren't leary of him, he's pissed off Arcadia and well...reaks of darkness.

Still, as long as he hasn't caused any problems...

He arrives in the rental place, looking around. Cars, right? He knows what these are, he hasn't used them much...in a pinch he could DRIVE one...as long as it was basic stuff, he wasn't too skilled at anything more than automatic. He wondered why the Dennou's wanted to see him...unless Maira's mouth is faster than he gave her credit for.
Emi Dennou "Oh," Shida says. "It's Ang, Shida of the Network waves hello and also, as an aside, says hello!" She waves towards Ang. "Hello!"

Emi turns her head, a bit more cautiously. What DOES she know? It's a mystery. But she must at least know he attacked VALKYRI which is reason enough to have words. But for what purpose is a mystery. She waves at him as well with the wag before adding, "The shift is over, we can walk and slash or converse as is desired, The Network situates the place and time."

She glances at Shida and, then, approaches.
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr laughs a little at the antics of the two...

"Hello, girls." he says, as they indicate their shift is over...

"Well, alright. I guess I will buy if we're goin' somewhere...you'll have to indicate where we're headin' to first though." he says, casually. "Though, please spare me heavy <GOOSEHONK> today...I've had a week of it already."
Emi Dennou "We can get some ice slush." Emi offers. "It's flavored," She adds. "To taste fruity, The Network does not hesitate to impose on Angantyr's generosity."

"Emi, you are starting to sound more ruthless economically speaking than a mercenary, Shida of the Network thinks you should be ashamed of yourself."

"It is rude to decline someone's good will out of pride." Emi counters before adding, "Don't worry about it. Clearly, you have been through a lot. We can avoid talking about that, if you'd like, though we are curious as to what you intend to do now."
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr walks with the two, chuckling at the two's arguing.

"I did offer, so it is just fine...she is defintely being more brutally honest than normal but, well..." he handwaves, "I appreciate brutal honesty." he finishes.

"She is also right. To deny good will out of pride is...bad." he continues.

"I don't know. I have a few options, maybe...the first issue I have to address is the fact that he is going to put an end to the Vespar line...and he does not mean me. My children, and..my brother." he says, shaking his head, "I do not know if I even want to bother saying anything...doing so will be dangerous to my own health."

"Nor do I owe him a thing...he sold out our home."

"Beyond that...I have no idea."
Emi Dennou "You have children?" Emi asks. She doesn't actually know that Angantyr and Garland's relationship isn't too hot right now, but she can infer from what is given. She doesn't explain this, thouhg, because Angantyr might be more reticient otherwise. Best if she knows what he thinks she knows. Or acts the part, anyway. But there's no way she's not going to ask about potential children. WHO IS THE MOMMY? IS IT KUJA??? Still, the idea of not caring about what happens to your brother is so alien to them it might as well be in a Steven Spielberg movie.

"It's strange," She says. "That you do not get along with him. At least, it is to us." Emi is saying. "The Network has difficulty comprehending that situation. Nevertheless, why did you start working with him in the first place? This one admits your styles did not seem to mesh even in initial impressions."
Angantyr Vespar "Future Children." Angantyr clarifies.

"With the break down between me and Garland, he has decided to take my children...future ones, and also attempt to break anyone that gets romantically attached to me.." Angantyr shrugs.

"We got along fine before I started to meet people from out of my world...it is strange, I didn't care much for people, until I started to get on with Valkyri." Angantyr shrugs, "I think I had closed my heart to others for the most part, because of my experiences...but Garland found me after...our capital fell to the Empire. When my brother was about to kill me...I had tapped into the darkness to try and...do something...I don't know what. I had never mastered the darkness I had always had in me at that age...I could use it, but it was always wild. Garland found me in some dark relm...and well...he taught me how to master it..."

"My desire for revenge made me ignore things...but now..?" he shrugs... "I have...nothing really left. I gave up on revenge in the end...and what do I have to show for it? Ten years of a wasted life and a empire ready to pounce on weaker things for their own selfish goals."
Emi Dennou "Do you want children?" Emi asks because one of the flaws of the 'I will hound your descendents until they are all gone' argument involves someone intending to have descendents. At least, Emi is /pretty/ sure that Garland can't make Ang-kids without his consent.

(Actually Garland probably could)

"Mm... Well, that's the problem of not keeping your experiment closed. This one isn't meaning to say you are an experiment but is simply explaining what happened through a scientific basis." She pauses. "The matter is, in a closed world you can be expected to react to the stimulus within that closed world but once the world has opened up to include others, ones that have different operating philosophies, it is easier to find a new path from revenge--for instance."

"However," Emi continues. "While this one doesn't know much about Garland, this doesn't seem like something he would have overlooked. Therefore, the issue isn't strictly that your viewpoint changed, but rather how it changed." She rests a hand on Shida's shoulder, guiding her along. "And similarly, having you strike at your friends, he must have known that would put pressure on your loyalty. Therefore, this one expects it isn't your betrayal in of itself that has bothered him."
Angantyr Vespar "No it was the fact that I did it FOR my friends that bothered him, not the betrayal itself. The fact that I allowed myself to have attatchments bothered him more than anything." Angantyr says, "He offered me a chance to come back to him...to abandon my friends completely." he says, shrugging. "I refused."

"I refused to have my life ditacted for me by him, and to abandon people I have grown to like." he continues, "Hilariously, I think it was LEXUS that taught me this lesson. Being a mutate gave me a new view on everything, the things I took for granted...humanity, human contact....everything I thought I eschewed before because I was different...that I made people uncomfortable paled in comparison to that."

"I made a Promise to myself...that despite everything, I'd stay a human to the end."
Emi Dennou "Sometimes bad things happen for a reason, it seems." Emi says. "We were very lucky, this one supposes, that we weren't there during that attack. We did not have to feel such emotions so strongly." She glances over to him. "And already, you seem to have made up your mind." She smiles faintly. "This one won't say you're not aggravating sometimes, but we do like you, Angantyr. This one hopes you do not take offense at our frank honesty, but deceit should be avoided, we have been taught, though The Network admits to fibbing from time to time all the same."

She says, "We're the same way. We have taken a lot from our bad experiences, to the point we would not get rid of them if we could."
Angantyr Vespar Angantyr shrugs.

"No I am not offended." he says, "I realize I am not the easiest to get along with, I know this...I don't deny this."

"I prefer the frank honesty...it beats the false politeness a lot of people put out." Angantyr continues speaking after a moment, "And...well..." He takes a breath....

"I can't take back what has happened, I can only go forward, I guess...Maybe I don't know what I want now...maybe it will come someday to me...maybe not."

"You have to take the good with the mad, I...wouldn't trade what I have now for anything. I have plenty of good friends."
Emi Dennou The Dennous are quiet for a while at this. They don't argue, because there's nothing really objectionable there by their own reckoning. In fact, really, it's kind of flattering? Unfortunately Garland seems a bit above their pay grade. How would they even go about opposing him in a constructive manner? Angantyr is much more powerful anyway, can probably handle it just fine himself.

These thoughts in mind, Emi adds, "Let's get that drink then, and perhaps enjoy what we have, then."

"Shida of the Network agrees, enough sad talk this one presumes."
Angantyr Vespar "Heh." Angantyr says, "Very well, then let us have some of this shaved ice.." he says.

"And think about more pleasant things."
