Niklas Dragonius There is a mountain.

There is a cave.

There might be treasure. There might be monsters. There might be nothing. But what Niklas Dragonius is pretty sure of is that there is likely to be *adventure*. That's why he's climbing the mountain right now, his uniform wrapped around his waist, hands stabbing into the rock as he craws up the side of the mountain marked on his paper map. It's a long climb, and a rough one, but Nik's okay with that. Nik was okay with it the other day, when it was for fun; now it is potentially for fun, profit, and *adventure*, and those are all very worthy reasons to climb a mountain.

"How you holding up?" Nik shouts as he hops onto a plateau.

He's probably the guy with the rope tied around his waist, too.
Helena Celba Helena COULD make Niklas do all the work, but today she decided to screw the manicure, and actually do some good old adventuring herself. She climes right below Niklas, before kicking off the side of the cliff face, and leaping up the last few feet to the plateau with Nik. She wipes her brow, but doesn't really seem to be breaking out in a sweat, this is exhileraiting...she hasn't had much time to do stuff like this in a long time, and it's good to forget about things for a little while.

"Just fine, Niky." She says, with a coy tone, "I did grow up in the wastes of Odin, I can do this all day if I have to." She says, with a playful tone, "So how much farther until we hit the cave you talked about?"
Soan Sagittarius Climbing mountains is easy for DRAGOON MAN.

It's less evident for mild-mannered Soan Sagittarius. It's not /terrible/: the rogue comes prepared for climbing with specialised equipment. He could likely do it barehanded, but why waste energy? He need all the training he can get with his tools, after all. Plus, not jumping all the way is rather revitalising -- and makes him remember how people that aren't Dragoons climb high stuff. That keeps him... down to earth.

Soan comes up last on the cliff, his school uniform's jackets tied around his waist as he wipes his forhead from the sweat. "I'm afraid, beyond buildings, climbing mountains is a rather new thing for me." He comments, taking a moment to catch his breath, lifting a hand holding a climbing claw upward.
Niklas Dragonius "I know, right? Isn't it great? I mean, I climbed up Titan, but that's not the same thing, and it's kinda one big mountain and all the buildings make it sooo easy," Nik replies as he crests onto the plateau. He checks his map again, then looks around - and sure enough, there's the mouth of the cave. "We're here."

"Uh, so, last time, I'm preeeetty sure there were monsters around here, so...keep your eyes peeled, huh? Make sure that...doesn't happen again and stuff. Because that would be bad."
%t Nik cracks his knuckles and stretches. "Who brought a light, anyway? Because I...kinda don't have any equipment. At all. I just sorta wing it when I'm out here, it's a sorta...survivalist challenge man-versus-nature enlightenment kinda deal, I guess?"

"Also chicks dig guys who can handle a knife and survive in the wilderness."
Helena Celba Helena sighs...

"Seriously, you are hopeless." She says, "Also, I am rather meh on the mountain men. It doesn't impress me or detract from them. I just don't particularly find it amazing. So what, you can survive, yeah big deal." She says, and turns on her MOGNET.

"Ah there we go." she says, and chants. A small ball of strange darkness appears, but as it moves into the cave it turns the cave from darkness to light.

"A reverse daylight bulb. I figure it would be useful for this cave." She says with a nod.

"Oh hmmm...I do enjoy the adventuring though." she thinks about this, "Monsters huh? So basically, home sweet home."
Niklas Dragonius "Basically. Although I'm pretty sure nothing detracts for you except the lack of a pulse, and I'm not entirely sure even then," Nik admits.

"That's....pretty cool, though. Where'd you come up with that? The reverse-daylight thing, I mean."
Soan Sagittarius Helena seems to like to to make the two guys feel like she's the only one that prepare. Ah well, just as well, that's one more fluorescent lightstick that Soan get to not use now.

Soan takes a swing out of a gourd of water while she creates her reverse-sunlight ball of lihgt, giving it a look. Odd, but not quite... dangerous. A reverse of darkness, he suppose? He's not quite much into magic, after all.

"I guess tastes are all over the place." Soan adds to the conversation, before walking foward the cave with his piercing eyes looking around the edge. He reach out a hand to the stone, getting a good feel at it while observing everything he can about it. If it's natural, traps, it being used recently...
Helena Celba "It's a personal touch to an old spell." Helena says with a grin, "The original spell allows a person to trade darkness and light for their eyes, but the spell is easily exploitable. And can perminately blind you...this one is a little less dangerous, and can be switched back and forth." She continues.

She looks at Nik, and only gives him a grin. "You'll have to find out, won't you." She says, with a wink.

She lets Soan get in up front, and she positions the ball so it provides illumination for his work. "Not all of us are gifted at summoning, so I make up with what I can."
Soan Sagittarius "We all have our talents." Soan mumbles as he inspects what he can out of the cave. Who knows, it could be trapped. He's een odder.
Niklas Dragonius Nik is really not sure how to answer that, and that's a first for him.

It doesn't look like the cave's insides are trapped, but they certainly don't look natural. They look as if something burrowed into the mountain with extreme and excessive force; something was moving very very fast when it landed here. There are also...sounds...coming from much, much deeper within.

Nik frowns. That probably wasn't a good sign.
Helena Celba "Hmmm..." Helena says, examining the walls.

"Not a natural cave." she says after a moment. "I can't be sure what caused it though...Frank isn't here." She says, and looks back at Nik, "Geeze, I'm kidding you jerk. Even /I/ have tastes, geeze." She says, waving a hand, "Though Vampires might get a buy. I dunno, I haven't really gotten to known one yet." notice she didn't say 'meet'.

She also might be teasing you. You hope she is. You really really do.
Soan Sagittarius Soan frowns as he inspects things, crouching down to look at the edges of the cave. "This thing is not natural. Someone, or something, dug it." He mumbles a bit louder, lost in his thoughts as he looks over his shoulder. "Fast. Very fast. There's lot of energy that went into it, you can see with how the rock was crushed... as if something fell very hard into it.

Soan freezes up at the sounds, frowning before peering into the darkness. He stands up, drawing out his sword: it emits a faint light, similar to a torch, to supplement Helena's 'faux light'. "At least we know it's not deserted, yes."
Niklas Dragonius Nik is still not really sure how to answer that.

"Yeah, I gathered that. Although I really don't like the fact that it's not deserted, all things on the table. I was kinda hoping it was. Whatever's down here is probably not something we really want to meet in a dark cave system. Or...ever, really, more than likely but."

Nik scratches the back of his head as they descend. "Soooo...small comfort, that."
Helena Celba Helena looks at Soan, shaking her head. "What part of Darkness to Light and vise versa was not understood?" she says, waiting for it to go back. She walks, behind the group with her hands behind her back as she hears the sound. "Hmm..." she says, non commitally for a moment, "To be fair, it's not coming out, and we're not going to stay out. So...no point complaining about having to fight it on it's turf." she says.

She winks at Nik again, "Lets focus on the monster, for the moment, then we can be impressed with my chest when we're not in danger of dying."
Soan Sagittarius Soan grins at Helena, as he taps on the botton of his blade. The 'light' shuts off. "Just waited to see if you would take the shot at a reprimand." THe rogue replies, adjusting his buckler on his other forarm as he steps up, nodding. "Indeed, we'll be fighting on it's turf, we don't know how much this tunnel digs down or how twisted it might be. So, let us take precautions."

Looks like he may have to use them, after all. Soan rummages in his pouches, taking out a few nails, peering into them for imperfactions, before slamming down down neatly, visible, nudged between rocks. "May not be needed, but better safe than sorry."

He looks over Niklas, balancing a few other nails on his knuckles. "You still feel like it?"
Niklas Dragonius "Still feel like...what, going down here? Yeah. Yeah I am, in fact." Nik stretches for a moment, then slams his foot against the ground. The rock cracks; he just starts walking downhill as Soan talks.

...Dragonius training is /ridiculous/.

The Fist Of The North Bar is being noticeably more careful than usual, though. Whatever's down there has him worried; the noise, the strange angle of the cave, the fact that the cave is both very very big and very very wide...he doesn't like any of it, nosir.

"Your chest is very nice, but I admit I am a little more focused on the thing that might kill us."
Helena Celba Helena giggles at the compliment, but she nods.

Dragonius training is fairly rediculious, but so is that of the Heretic's hammer. Time will tell who's the superior martial art, but that is not the focus of the conflict today. "Well, if you are so concerned, stop announcing your presence so willingly." She says, with a sigh. "Reguardless, I will support you two in this...so it should hardly be a challenge if we play it smart!"
Niklas Dragonius "No, incidentally," Nik observes over his shoulder as his mood grows fouler and fouler from the Linkpearl conversation, "I don't think I'm ever going to be nice to your boss. Sorry."
Helena Celba "Thanks for getting me in trouble, jerk." Helena says, with an annoyed tone, "And please, /stop/ talking about the Muramasa family like that. Or did you forget /I am addopted/." She says, vehemitedly. Even she has limits, and this arguing is quickily pushing her patience.
Soan Sagittarius "Ugh." Soan lets out, rubbing his eyes with his thumb and his index, mostly at the whole conversation. "Listen, you two, calm down."
