No description.
Emi Dennou Emi Dennou is back in Fluorgis, intent on checking in with the Shard Seekers. She wants to make sure Fluorgis is all gravy since her last visitation and, perhaps more thoughtfully, she wanted to meet Faruja and try and poke some clues out of him. Unfortunately, Faruja actually left to help out VALKYRI so now she's kind of mulling around outside the Shardseekers HQ, looking a bit disgruntled and even more troubled. She is not, however, by herself. Another young lady who looks rather like Emi is sitting around near her, same hair color--could be sisters! Could be twins! Could be vat grown clones created purely to be destroyed! Or worse!

They are, however, sitting on the ground and munching on burgers. They seem to be even taking bites at concurrent motions.

Though there's a bit of hesitance between each bite...as if they're doing it on purpose rather than incidentally.
Arkham Fisher Ser Senra actually left to help out a valkyrie or something; even if she's his assigned medic, Arkham finds it hard to follow his endless crusades. Her Sisterhood frowns on following into battle, and he seems to make it back anyways, mostly. That leaves Arkham at loose ends in Fluorgis; now she, too, is kind of milling around outside the Shardseekers' HQ. She's never actually been inside, but they must be good people or Ser Senra wouldn't be working with them.

"Oh? Did he leave, leave you here, too, ah..." She hazards a guess. "...Emi?" Arkham offers the Dennous each a bow.
Emi Dennou Emi is completely oblivious that Faurja went out to help out a valkyrie or something. The phrase 'comedy of errors' is apt. The two are pretty focused on their burger eating and it isn't until Arkham speaks up that they realize she is present. They look up simultaneously and then Emi looks down at her burger, then up to Arkham--then holds out the burger intently. It's partially eaten but.

"Who do you mean by 'he', The Network inquires if you mean who we think you mean, they add vaguely."

Emi stands up, the other remains sitting, and she bows back.
Arkham Fisher Arkham holds up a hand in polite refusal, her gamble having paid off. "Ser Senra is off crusading," she explains, which does not quite answer Emi's question. Arkie looks as though she wonders herself if that's who they think she means. Not that it's a secret or anything. "And we don't, don't have a Mission here," she adds, as though it explains something.

"What were you two, ah, doing? Besides eating. You, you look upset." Maybe. She thinks.
Emi Dennou Emi sighs faintly. "...We came to check up on the Shard Seekers, however--they are not around." She sighs, deeply. "...All the trouble and all that travel. Very inefficient. Hm." She scuffs her foot across the ground, cricking her neck lightly and then cracking her own knuckles.

"We also were hoping to ask him more about the Church. There is much, we feel, we have yet to understand about the organization and its tenants."

The other Dennou waves at Arkie with a big smile. "Hello again, Shida of the Network is pleased to see you again, Sister Fisher."

Emi hmms faintly. "--The Network supposes we could ask as well--what brings you here? Is there anything we can do that may be of assistance to you?" She smiles faintly. "For that matter, how have you been beyond just today?"
Arkham Fisher The other Dennou looks a little more approachable, maybe, but apparently Emi does the talking here. "It's always that, that way though. But, my room is paid, so I don't mind. Much. I just don't, don't care for waiting."

She can't be flip about Church expenditures now, though, someone's asking her about them. "Oh!" She... is wearing a field medic's cassock that is in all ways identical to the one they saw her in last, except without so much mud. It isn't even a proper habit at all, though she seems comfortable in it. "I...ah, Ser Senra would really be a far better one to ask. I can, can recite you my prayers if you like, but I'm just an orphan they took in."

This is several lies. Despite her stammer, her speech is pure high Archadean, and the Network will recall her introducing herself at least once as a Sister Penitent. "I have some talent at, at healing, and," her voice drops to a near murmur, "I've seen a battlefield or two, so, so, this is the service that is asked of me."
Emi Dennou Emi does seem to be handling conversation for the moment. Really why have multiple people talk when you can just have one? She is about to say more when Shida interrupts her.

"Shida of the Network was practicing concurrency, this one explains, which is why we both have burgers. Also, this one explains we were also rather hungry after our travels."

Emi breathes out a sigh and shakes her head. "That's alright. It's just--we are a bit awkward in asking Faruja such things, we feel inquiring worries him that we are feeling--disruptive--and he is quite zealous so practical discussions..." She shrugs her shoulders. "We do not wish to ask him inconvenient questions. You seem more down to earth? The Network supposes. Nevertheless, we are interested in hearing about how they took you in. That was rather kind of them. We will be blunt, The Network approves of you from what we've seen. You also seem...interesting. That is to say, The Network believes there is more to you than is initially apparent. However, The Network is not intending that to be insulting, it is a compliment by our own reckoning."

"She's saying we have a positive initial impression, Shida of the Network likes you too!" She beams.
Arkham Fisher The Network is a little confusing; Arkie has has heard that twins get weird sometimes, though. She nods, solemn and appreciative, to mask her confusion, and even smiles faintly when their question finally pops up. That one is a story she can tell.

"Well. I grew up on the coast," she waves east. "My parents died, died, when I was 12 maybe. There was nothing for, for me at home, so when the front moved past I followed the army. Doing, doing this and that around camp, like. Once they learned that I, I had a healing gift, they kept me in with the medics. I was with them until, til the Darkness; they ran out of war where I was, after that."

Arkie sighs, heavily, taking a moment to collect herself before resuming. "So I was, was there, helping the wounded, and the poor, and that, because half the, the time it was me, you know? A Mission from the Church came through, to do what I was doing. And since I do what they do, they brought me in." There may be more to it than that-- her eyes look a trifle watery-- but surely that must be the gist of it. She blinks it away, quickly.

"And you... two... uh, I, I mean, there's more of you, aren't there," Arkie states. "You can't weave much of a net with, with just two strands."
Emi Dennou The Network is surprised to hear Arkham so willing to talk about herself. Surprisingly they don't offer instant condolences upon hearing about the deaths of her parents. The Network doesn't really understand 'parents' as most people do. The Network likewise doesn't even blink twice when Arkham mentions there must be more of them but, after a moment--Emi smiles thinly--she doesn't smile much, but she seems pleased by Arkham's observation.

"You would be correct, The Network used to be 18 in number and, at the time, we were called 'Legion'. Thirteen of us were destroyed. One of us,' She nods to Shida. "Had been brought back post-death. It is something of a story, The Network confirms. The Network performs mathematics and adds, further, that there are presently six of us active."

Shida laughs a bit, still all smiles. "You have quite a story yourself. What you do is important work, it seems like. We're not very good at, ah, healing. And the like, admittedly."

"We 'heal' by burning the wound shut through powerful electric shocks." Emi explains.
Arkham Fisher A lot to digest; Emi and her sisters are, astoundingly, considerably more weird than Arkie was expecting. Some...

/.../time/ later, Faram permit that it's seconds and not minutes, Arkham masters her gaze, and turns it to the cobbles, instead of Shida. She knows what getting stared at is like. "...constructs," she manages, after a further pause.

Yes, Arkie, but they're /nice/ constructs! Anyways, that only /sounds/ like they are, they could just be a bunch of girls, they could just--

She said something about healing, didn't she. "That's, uh... the word... cautery? Yes. You can, can do that? That's very important, you, you know. But, but, with lightning?"
Emi Dennou The Network is pretty weird.

Shida thinks about the term 'constructs'. It sort of implies things that isn't true while perhaps technically being true all the same? So it's hard to respond to. Does her world even have people like The Network? Well, it's close enough, she supposes.

"Ahh... Well, The Network supposes 'constructs' is close enough to being accurate so that you can refer to us as such if you desire, but we are still biological creatures, Shida of the Network clarifies, rather than 'golems'--"

"Yes." Emi answers the simpler question. "It is very flashy, not efficient, The Network is a bit embarrassed, but sometimes it is useful-- you probably have much elegant methods of healing yourself."

They are a bit embarrassed by their brute force method, it seems. To be fair, they've seen actual factual white mages.

So embarrassed.
Arkham Fisher "Oh, no, no, not at all!" Don't think about zombies. "I, I mean, I /can/ cast a healing spell. A few times. Probably. And then I, I have to go lie down. But I can stitch all day." Arkham, too, has seen actual, factual White Mages. Just, not in a mirror.

"But surely you don't hang around here all day, day waiting until someone needs a moxe, what do you do? Where are you from?"
Emi Dennou If they are zombies they're pretty bad at the whole eating brains thing. They seem to have their own will and conciousness, albeit a weird one at that. Nevertheless, Emi thinks about Arkham's answer to their misunderstanding and adds, "Healing without magic is, possibly, even more incredible. It certainly requires great care and intellect beyond our understanding. We only really know about what we do."

Shida adds, "And detectiving."

"Yes, we are detectives, The Network explains while adding that they are from a world that has fallen to the Heartless."

And they really need to ask Isaac about what just happened there too come to think of it. "Right now we live in Traverse Town, with the Agency."
Arkham Fisher "Traverse... Town." It seems like Arkie's heard of it, but... "...with, with a detective agency?" Another thing that it /seems/ like she's heard of. Maybe they're not common in Mullonde or wherever. Certainly she's always had to do all her own information-gathering. Like now; she addresses herself to Shida, who keeps volunteering things, and strains for some information that she probably has no business having. "That's... you have to go to Luca, I think? Maybe? That's a long way even to here, anyways."

It isn't really a question, but, since they already said they were detectives hoping to gather info, it doesn't need much of an answer either.
Emi Dennou "We've worked here before," Emi explains further. "The NEtwork is no stranger to Fluorgis. We used to have a member of the Network stationed here but she's returned to Traverse Town for the time being, she will likely be returning shortly. It is part of a, ah, networking initiative."

"Networking is important if you want to be able to interrogate people and bleed them dry of information, Shida of the Network volunteers unneccessarily."

Emi hangs her head and grabs Shida by the arm and whispers at her for a few moments even though really she doesn't need to do 'whispering' to communicate with her, sometimes speaking carries a bit more insistence than telepathy.

She looks back to Arkham. "We are dedicated to our work but we are still rather new to the job. Do you know Mercade Alexander?, The Network offers the name of their employer."
Arkham Fisher "I'm afraid that I, I don't." Networking isn't Arkham's department; The School of Shepherds-- preachers, pastors, you know-- speak to the laity. Nominally, she's a church Scribe, though the School of Scribes holds most of the healers, too. It's an administrative thing. "I've never been off of Ivalice," she confesses.

"I hadn't been, been out of Mullonde for... years? Maybe? Until I was, ah, blessed with the service of Ser Senra. He'd have a Templar, normally, but if the Knights want healing /he's/ actually the one they go to. Usually."
Emi Dennou Emi nods. "Mercade Alexander is our employer. You could say the 'TDA'," it glows yellow and is added to Arkham's glossary should she choose to learn more about the world of Final Kingdom! "--came to our aid as well, this one summarizes." She waggles a hand up and down. She is not especially one to talk much about herself as it is, but she's comfortable handing this much off easily. If she doesn't get off Ivalice much, then well--she should tell her about what's outside of it?!

"--the service of Faruja?" Emi asks suddenly. "...Is he now working as your knight, then?" She scratches at her head curiously.
Arkham Fisher "Yes," Arkham answers, after also scratching her head curiously. She probably meant 'to', didn't she. Oh well. "The Knights Templar do, do serve us, though. Ser Senra is my sword," if the Network will permit her some metaphor, "that, that I need not wield one myself. Faram wills we be at peace, so, so, that's a heavy burden indeed that he bears for me."

She does seem to hope that they won't press her on technicalities like 'why do you have a sword' or 'we totally saw you fighting stuff we were actually there with you'. The Dennous, odd as they are, seem pretty likeable to Arkie. Or, pretty interesting, at least. Worth knowing. Worth knowing more about. She'll ask the obvious question. "There are... six of you, you said. Are you all, all alike?"
Emi Dennou Emi considers taking the metaphor literally just to play around with Arkham a little, but ultimately decides to--yes--allow Arkham some metaphor. She's having enough fun in the future messing around with Agrias and Zack so her prankster soul is satisfied.

"Mm...we thought we knew Faruja well, but it seems there is much to learn yet. Still, it must be difficult for him, considering the war of genocide being thrust against his people. We had provided some advice on that topic, but he seemed disinclined to accept. Perhaps it was a bit too...practical."

THE OBVIOUS QUESTION OH NO!

But they've had time to figure this one out. "We are alike," Shida says, smiling. "But also not alike!"

"It's a paradox," Emi summarizes. "Inherent in the nature of a singular entity being spread out across multiple entities. We have a somewhat higher understanding of 'self worth', however, than originally speaking so we do have differing traits, to be less cagey on the subject for you."
Arkham Fisher She was just wondering, gosh. It's probably an occupational hazard for detectives, though, being cagey.

That aside, she did manage to field most of that answer, which is not too shabby for a fisher-girl. "Basically, ah, sisters, then." Exercising her own detecting skills, Arkie recalls from earlier, "You two were along on that, that thing for the Judges, weren't you? What did you make of that?"
Emi Dennou "...Yes, we are sisters." Emi says, embarrassed. Her opinion of the Judges is asked for and Emi thinks about it. She tries not to let Cirra cloud her judgement. and ultimately thinks for some time about 'that'.

"The Judges are strange beings. Their kingdom is an aggressively expansionist empire, but the rule of law--their law--is precious to them. Still, they seem to allow those that wear their stripes--or similar stripes--to cloud their judgement. We have already seen one calling themselves a 'judge' to be...unworthy. You may know of that one as the labeled Heretic Evja. We are not of the Church, of course, so our reasoning are not the same reasons as yours might be, but she tried to kill Mercade Alexander on behalf of a vow, not for justice or for the law--but for her personal needs."

"They desire power. And I do not know why. After all, they are a well situated empire, even now, and their reliance on their law provides some stability, irregardless of how they have managed to form their empire. How they conducted their business prior to the Ruin--that may be beyond the role of a detective, but if they desire power now--I cannot help but wonder--for what purpose do they need more power? That is the question that comes to mind when I think of that venture."
Arkham Fisher There's a lot for Arkham to address in that middle bit, there. She did not, for one, know of Evja's label as 'Heretic', although she /did/ know the Church to hold a low opinion of Viera. Her minor dismay is evident, but it passes as they move on into more familiar territory.

She polishes up her Archadean accent a bit, just for added framing. "The Judges /are/ the, the highest power in Archades. Of course it attracts those who, who enjoy power. Why do you think I live in Mullonde? There's no, no, no point in me breaking myself against the Judges. I can only work, work from the bottom up."
