No description.
Soan Sagittarius Soan Sagittarius hates the swamp. Not because they are smelly, full of bugs and potential death traps. Bugs tend to not bother him much, for reason that are obvious to people that might know what he is. Maybe they're scared. No, it is because it is humid in here, far too humid and he quite hates that. His tools do, too. Nothing to terrible, but it's not his favourite place to be in the world at large. The lovely rolling plains or the city are far much agreeable.

It's the later end of the afternoon as the thief leaps from rocks to rocks, humming to himself as he follows a trail that he's been following for the past hour. His information should have pointed him in the right direction, he hopes.
Niklas Dragonius By contrast, Niklas Dragonius loves the swamp. It's not that he enjoys being in the swamp - surrounded by slime, slime creatures, horrible trees, leeches, and other such terrible things. On the contrary, he really doesn't - nobody in their right mind does.

What Nik does love is that there are no swamps on their home world. Perhaps once, in the ancient days, when the lands were wild and untamed and humanity fought an uphill battle against the world...but no longer. Before Galianda fell, it was almost without exception cities, gleaming statues to Mankind's glory and might.

This place is the complete opposite of that. The soaring trees, the disgusting water, the smell of death...even though it's not pleasant, it's an experience Nik can't help but enjoy, because of how different it is.

The first, and last, sign that Soan has caught up to Nik is the sudden visage of the dark god Diabolos above and through the trees. Suddenly, there's an explosion of water as whatever was wriggling in Diabolos's hands is brought down with massive force; just standing on the edge, Soan isn't likely to care much, but the trees and the earth a little further in are bending inwards under the power of gravity itself.

Then, abruptly, the visage disappears. Nik falls, landing gently in the center of the deformed crater; he holds up a hand at Soan. "Hey! Sorry about that, I got ambushed. What's up? You're kinda out of the way, aren'tcha?"
Soan Sagittarius Nature is nice, Soan will say to that. It's quite one thing to have occassional pieces of greenery in their old world, concentrated in parks or reserves, if they were that much luckier. Out here, it's a lot of wilds, untamed regions, as well with all the dangers that it comes with. Not only man or demons lives here, which makes this world very, very interesting in its own ways.

The visage surprises the thief a little, but he remains calm, balancing himself on one of the stones as he looks upward with a faint frown. He lifts an arm to protect himself from the splash of fetid water, frowning a bit at himself. It's not like this uniform was clean right now. It'll need a good wash after this.

When Niklas drops down, he lower shis arm, giving the martial artist a brief friendly salute. "That's alright. I came here looking for you, actually."
Niklas Dragonius "Oh, yeah? What for?" Nik hops from the point in the center of the crater, landing on one of the bent trees. He swings down, crouching behind Soan and standing.

Nik's face twists into a darker frown. "It ain't about yesterday, is it?"
Soan Sagittarius Soan shakes his head, waving a hand. "No, no. It's not about that." The Rogue assures, remaining where he is at the moment, calm, assured. He gives where Niklas stands at a look before refocusing his stare on him. "It's more about something that might affect us all more directly."
Niklas Dragonius Nik doesn't particularly like thinking about what happened yesterday. Souji Murasame was a grade-A jackass, sure, but even Murasame didn't deserve that, and the fact that Nik had gone that low doesn't sit well with him, not at all. It leaves a bad taste in his mouth that he's capable of taking his dislike so far and into such a dark place, one that's still there even a day later. Sure, it was a mistake, but...he was still capable of it.

"Oh yeah? What's up?" Nik glances over Soan's shoulder at the crater, just to make sure the monster's actually dead. When he's sure it is, he looks back at the thief. "Must be pretty important if you came all the way out here, slogging through this muck to get to me!"
Soan Sagittarius Soan will admit it was particularly ugly. He didn't think, really, anybody had it in them to bring that up. However, that reminded him that under pressure, or in the heat of an argument, people make mistakes or do things they wouldn't do other wise in normal circumstances. If anything, it refreshed his mind about that.

"I think it's rather important. Besides, the way here wasn't unpleasant!" The Thief replies, his eyes darting over, following's Nik to see if it was dead, too. They are two, now, even if it was still kicking. It didn't have much of a chance. As for the way here, well, it was quick for him. Jumping long distances is an amazing way of traveling. "I came here to ask for your help, altought I did come here to talk. It's about our world."
Niklas Dragonius "Ok. Start talking, then, I guess; you don't have to keep chatting me up." Yeah, it's dead. Nik hops onto the same branch, then bounds out onto the crater while Soan starts talking to collect something off the monster. He's not the kind of guy to just kill things needlessly - even if it attacked him, he'd feel bad if he didn't use it for *something*.

"So what is it?"
Soan Sagittarius "Heh. I'm a chatter, what can i say?" Soan says, watching Niklas work on taking everything valuable off the carcass of the monster. Still, best to get straight to the point. "I dunno if you've kept up with the news, but some people found a way to remake their world. Manhattan, it's called." He begins. "It's possible to do. If they've done it, we can do it, Niklas."
Niklas Dragonius Niklas's fingers dig into the skin of the monster carefully as Soan talks. He's gotten very good at harvesting monster parts since he started travelling around the world; he doesn't really need a knife anymore to do it at this point.

"Okay." Nik replies. He's quiet for a very long moment, then shrugs.

"Good luck, I guess."
Soan Sagittarius Of course he was gonna say that. He knows enough about the dude for that. Soan wont give up that easily.

He's here to find out why. Also make him remember that he's a friend. That might be harder than expected. How to approach this, however?

He stretch his neck a bit to look over at the monster, see how he does it, then lets out a brief sigh, shaking his head. Don't over think it, Soan. Overthinking leads to things becoming complicated and interwoven. "You don't like what it was, don't you?"
Niklas Dragonius "No, not really," Nik replies, slicing some more skin off the monster as he does so. He's not exactly focused on it, so he's not doing a really perfect job of cleaning the thing. A lot of excess meat and such, he'd have to clean it more properly later.

"But we're not gonna be able to change it. You guys are just staring back at the past like it's something you're gonna be able to fix, but it's not. Some people restored their world...doesn't mean ours can be. You're welcome to look, I mean, good luck if you do..."

Nik's voice hardens. "I'm not going back."
Soan Sagittarius Soan knew that this was going to be difficult. Still. Few things worth it are easy.

The thief listens to him, shoving his hands into his pockets as he remains relaxed despite of the humid atmosphere of the swaps. "I agree." He replies, quietly. "Staying stuck in the past wont help. Ignoring it is not any better, either. Whenever we can or can't, we need to get used to live here for a while, if not the rest of our lives." He continues, furrowing his brows. "A man chose what he wants to do in the end, Niklas."

His tone hardens a little, altought there is quite a bit of concern in there. "What are you running away from, Niklas?"
Niklas Dragonius "I'm not," Nik replies at Soan's question. He hefts the final cuttings over his shoulder, then exhales, gesturing at the remnants of the monster. It was going to get eaten by the swamp, soon, and that was fine by Nik; better than being wasted. All things had their place in life, after all.

"I just don't wanna go back, that's all. It ain't like I've got some big secret about it, is it? It just doesn't interest me. I've got this big, wide space to go see and explore, and Murasame talks about reforming his empire or whatever...well, like I said, whatever. Ain't for me, man."
Soan Sagittarius Soan's head tilts to a side, looking at the remains of the monster slowly sinking.

The Thief waits for a moment, then nods, firmly. "Murasame don't feel right unless he's on the top of everyone else." He replies, looking over his shoulder, back at the martial artist. "We all have something, Nik. I don't share that guy's opinion: this place is dangerous, but it's beautiful too. It's nothing like we've had back home." He crosses his arms. He rather hates talking to a back, honestly. "That's it, thought: we don't have one. You're fine with wandering around, living off the land. I admire that. It's something I can't do myself. There's a beauty into it."

He takes a brief breath. "But Nik. Even if we don't bring our world back, all travellers needs a home to return to when their travels are done. To share what they've seen, what they've lived, the daily moments. I want to bring Galianda back, even if it's just part of it." He pauses. Soan's tone grows more determined. "That may be in a long time. They need your help, Niklas. They need a home. Somewhere to call that."
Niklas Dragonius "Super," Nik replies, sounding a little angry as he hops back to the shore with the monster cuttings slung over his shoulder. Talking about Murasame bothered him, a lot. It set him on edge; something about the guy *really* pissed Nik off. Maybe it was the fact that the guy was an asshole, maybe it was the fact that the guy felt the need to dominate everything, maybe it was just that Niklas couldn't stand the guy. Who knows?

Soan's laying a guilt trip on him something bad, though. He doesn't like being reminded of that. Helping put the world back together is the right thing to do, and he knows this - even if it means working with Murasame. But at the same time...at the same time, selfishly, Nik wants things to remain as they are. Why can't they? Why is that so bad? People weren't dead, they'd come through the darkness eventually, just like everybody else did. So...

Nik shakes his head and frowns. "I'll...think about it, okay? I'll think about it."

"C'mon. Let's get back to a town so I can sell this."
Soan Sagittarius Soan knows that feeling. He don't like Murasame very much either, a lot has to do on his methodes and his desire to... well, dominate everything, really. He's a different person than he used to be, perhaps. Since...

There's so much more Soan could add on to that, but this will be enough at the moment. Like how it's not just their worlds, it's all the other ones. This fragmented one, even is endangered, at that. That world he likes wandering around so much in. Soan bows his head into a nod, looking around. "Alright. Think on it and let's get out of here -- I know a good seller you could pawn that stuff to for a good price."

He pull his hands out, looking at the sinking carcass. "Need help carrying more?"
Niklas Dragonius Yeah. Nik would think on it. Nik would think on it for a long time; whether his guilt or his desire for freedom won out was going to be a hell of a coinflip, that's for sure. Deep down, he wasn't sure he could willingly consign his people to the darkness, after all. He wasn't sure he was that strong...or that weak...a person.

"Nah. I got it. Be happy to talk to your guy, though. Running a little low on coin lately."
Soan Sagittarius "Sure thing." Soan replies, tipping two fingers into a salute from his forhead. "He gives good coin for that kind of stuff, I heard. Sold him off some scavenging I've found a few days ago. Somebody else from Corneria suggested him to me." As a fence of looted dungeon items, sure, but still, that's what the dude did.

Since he didn't ask for help, Soan begins walking foward, hands back into his pockets. "So, what did you find, recently? How was that mountain you climbed the other day?"
Niklas Dragonius "Ah, man, it was awesome!" Nik was perfectly wiling to fence things to a shady fence. Whatever! It wasn't like he got these things illegaly, he killed the monster bare-handed! Shady fences were only bad if you were buying things from them or selling stolen stuff to them. Which brought up some questions about Soan. "I can show you sometime if you wanna see. It's pretty huge and /really/ awesome. There was a cave up there...I meant to explore it but it was getting late, didn't feel like getting lost at that time of night, y'know?"

"What about you? What've you been up to?"
Soan Sagittarius Soan tend to not associate himself with the truly shady sort of people. Things are quite different here, after all, but his desire to not give buisness to drug dealers or worse kind of criminals is rather high on his priority of things. In fact, he would rather love to oust them and bring them to justice. Countering the law to fence off stolen goods from corrupt rich people and dungeons is one thing -- there's no lack of them. He helps the less fortunate, the crushed. Not harm them.

"That could be interesting." The Rogue replies, rubbing his shoulder, then reflextively snatch a mosquito out of the air, before tossing it away. That thing was headed for his nose. He could just FEEL the stare from that little pipsqueak. "What kind of cave is it? A natural one, or something?"

At the question, he pauses, looking up at the swamp trees. They're neat. Humid, but neat. "Doing a little of what you're doing, actually, exploring in my own ways. Meeting people, took a few jobs, rescued a king... and asking myself a lot of questions about current events."
Niklas Dragonius "I dunno. I didn't dig in far enough. Might be unnatural! I'm not a Titanic, I don't know these things." Nik folds one of his hands behind his head as they walk through the swamp. He's not concerned about mosquitos; they didn't even try to land on him. Either they could feel what he was, or (as Murasame might say), his blood was too muddy for that.

"If you wanna go check it out, we can check it out later, after I get this stuff squared away and check in on Serah, make sure she's okay. Then I promised Alma I'd help her out when Helena came to get her, so I guess that too."

"Hang on, back up. You rescued a king?"
Helena Celba "We rescued a King." says a voice from behind Nik and Soan.

"Or did you forget that there were other people too?" Helena says, teasingly as she walks towards the pair, walking with no small amount of sway to her step as she takes a breath.

"Don't leave me out of the story, I was a very important part of it, MISTER Sagittarius!" she says, sweetly, with a wave to him. And then there was Nik...who typically she was okay with, but he was a jerk lately.

"Dragonius." she says, with a hand on her hip.
Soan Sagittarius "Well, not just /me/," Soan begins to say, "There was quite a lot of other people there, like--"

It's rare to be able to sneak up on Soan Sagittarius. It's probably the swamp, an unfamiliar environment to him, throwing off all his point of observations he has normaly, that is likely to blame. He's also willing to accept 'foul black magics' to the list of potential things to associate with that.

Calmly, collecting himself in a flash, the thief turns around to stare at Helena, crossing his arms over his chest, smiling. "You're absolutely correct, you were there as well. Quite a lot of people were there, too."

He pauses. "Were you following me, or him?"
Niklas Dragonius "Celba," Nik replies, just as warily. His voice is a little bit rough, and he's lugging the dead monster's cuttings around with him, but otherwise he's perfectly polite. "Been a while. You look nice."

"That sounds pretty awesome, though. What kinda king? I don't get much news out here."
Helena Celba Helena grins at Niklas, "Aww, thank you." he says, with a small grin.

"Oh wouldn't you like to know~." she teases towards Soan. She moves to sit down with them, "So just livin' off the land? Having a boy's night out? Not interupting some good old /bonding/ time am I? I mean, I didn't know if you were a thing.." she says, almost hopeful. She might want to watch.
Soan Sagittarius "Burmercian." Soan asides to Niklas, shoving his hands back in his pockets. Then, after a beat. "If you haven't encountered them, they're kind of a... rodent people? Rat or mouse, I think?"

He turn his attention back at Helena, still smiling. "Oh, no, I'm going to be helping him selling all that stuff he just got from that dead monster." He says, thrusting a thumb over to what Niklas is lugging around. "Sharing stories. All we need is a beer."
Helena Celba Hmmm...

Helena reaches into her top, digging for a bit, and pulls out a wand, and tosses something on the ground.

The object poofs into a large pot, it almost looks like you should be a witch and casting spells into it.

With one hand, she easily takes it, and walks over to put it into the water, until she fills it up, and brings it back.

"Mmm...and now I just need..." she walks over, ripping a rib out of the monster, holding it up, and softly speaking..

The rib goes into the pot, followed by her hand, challening darkness, before she pokes the top of the marshy waters.

She waits, tapping her wand against the side of it for a moment, three mugs appear, attatched to the pot.

She waits a bit more, and then nods, when the concoction in the pot turns a strange ale like color, and puts her mug into it.

She takes a measured sip, "Hm...not quite foul enough, but it'll do."
Soan Sagittarius As someone that can't do any kind of magic, Soan peers over at the pot materialize over out of thin air, watching with some interests as she begins to work on a brew. The monster rib gets a look but, sure, he drank more foul things in this world already.

When it's done, the thief leans over, takes a sniff out of the thing. A scowl works up on his face. "Yeah. I'd say so."
Helena Celba "Hey, I can only work with what I get. Anyway, I COULD Have thrown more of the monster in here, but the bone was the focus." She shrugs, she takes another drink. "Passable. It'll get ya drunk. Better than some of the stuff you find in the worlds." She says.

Another drink. "Gifthorse, mouth." she shrugs. "So what are you boys talking about?"
Niklas Dragonius Nik can't help but glance at Helena's top. Yeah, he doesn't much care for her right now, but he's still Nik; Nik's gonna Nik, no matter the world or the time or the place.

"Sorry, I'm not really in the mood for a drink right now." Nik holds up his hand. Especially one that smells like /that/, and was made like *that*. Nik was...well, he didn't really trust that kind of thing. Give him a good old-fashioned beer over that any day.

"Ah, we were just talking about this cave I found on the mountain I mentioned. I didn't explore it, but I thought there might be some cool stuff inside, so I made some marks on my map to show where it was so I could go back and double-check it. What brings you out here, Celba?"
Soan Sagittarius Soan, on the other hand, seems to taste it. In truth, however, after a brief taste, he uses his expert tricks to pour most of it away into some vials he have, discretly. After smacking his mouth open and closed a few times, he states critically. "It's a bit warm." before setting down his little cup. "Thanks for the sip, it'll be good enough."

Maybe this thing will make a good poison on some traps. Yeah. He hopes so.

"It's pretty much as he says: a cave, he was talking to me about this mountain he climbed." He comments, refocusing on Helena. HIs attention is less on her top. He's not Nik. Some would say fortunately. "Indeed, what brings you about here?"
Helena Celba "I was going to yell at you for being a Jerk." Helena looks towards Niklas.

It is actually alchohal. Like, legit alchohal. Enhance water, it's not GOOD but it is passable.

She frowns, and shakes her head, geeze, all that work, and reaching around in her boobs for nothing, well at least /she/ can get drunk. She takes another drink.

"Also a little bored. I don't /always/ hang out with Souji, I do get the urge to travel and explore too." she says with a nod. "Hmm...a mountain you say? I do need a diversion," she offers, she is quite skilled.

"...Look, Niklas, I get that you don't grock Souji and how he does things. I'd really appreciate it if you at least /try/ to not get in his face."
Niklas Dragonius Nik shrugs. "He's a giant asshole. He gets in my face, I get in his face. I crossed the line yesterday, but unless you wanna tell your stuck-up boss to get out of my face, I'm gonna slap back when I get slapped. I don't bend over for bullies."

The alcohol is tempting. The boobs are also tempting. But no, Nik is trying to focus right now, he has things to do today that aren't women. Hard as it is to believe.

"Sorry, though. Even I think I crossed the line yesterday."
Soan Sagittarius After a moment, Soan takes another bit out of the alchohal. It's not very good. It's even warm, but he haven't got a drink in... well, forever, actually. It's not like booze was allowed for students back at the Academy. This whole debacle do point out to Soan that he'll have to be careful, if he ever have to steal from Helena someday, where he shove his hands into.

"It wasn't pretty, period, yesterday." The Thief mumbles, shaking his head. Nik took the worse shot, but at least he admits that he did wrong by going that far. Beyond that, he let Nik talk. Nik can handle himself. In fact, he just handled himself admirably, right there.
Helena Celba Helena would probably only let him get away with it too, because he'd have to grope her to get it.

She takes a breath, "I...get that, okay? I really do? But he's trying for everyone, he's doing everything he can to get a place for the students in this world." Helena isn't known for her compassion, but Souji was a brother to her. They'd grown up together...she wouldn't be alive if not for him, and she is well aware of this. "Yeah...it's..." she sighs, "Alright. Let's not dwell on it, alright? I know you're sorry, just...kinda avoid that." She looks somber. And then, "So you said adventure. Lets do that, I think we all could use something happier!"
Niklas Dragonius Nik just shrugs his shoulders. "I don't hold it against you. It ain't like I think you're making him be an asshole or anything. Don't worry about it."

"Yeah, hang on." Nik sets the cuttings down and digs into his patchwork school uniform. He draws out a rolled-up piece of paper; then he unrolls it.

Nik's gotten *very* good at mapping.

He points at a scratchmark down on his map, right next to a very large mountain. "It's up here. It's a pretty stiff climb, but I bet you guys'll be fine. Lemme go sell this junk to Soan's fence and then I'll show you where the mountain is and we'll go see if there's anything cool in it."
Soan Sagittarius Soan likes what he sees. This is people talking to one another. Even if they don't fully agree, well, they talked and still found some peace in doing that. He wish people would do more of that -- including in this new world.

"I agree, a good ol' dungeon crawl should lift everyone's spirits!" The Rogue lets out happily, peering over the map via over Niklas' shoulder, squinting his eyes at it. "Oh yeah, that mountain." He mumbles, making quick markers in his mind's eyes. He's seen it when he jumped over, but he can't really /say/ that. "What kind of cave did it look like, natural? Looked carved?"
Soan Sagittarius Admittedly, while their spirits will be lifted, the weight of their purses will likely be heavier. Hopefully.
Helena Celba "Hmm..." Helena looks over it, "You're getting better." she points out.

She gives it a look, "Alright, Soan and I can go ahead while you empty your bags." She is alright with this. "Hm...man if I knew I was adventuring I'd have gotten more money from...eh, no worries." she shrugs. "I guess I'll have to do this the old fashion way." though, she'd like to avoid something that reminded her of home, but she avoids digressing out loud.

Hm... "Well, Soan, I hope you can defend a lady until Nik can come back..." she pauses, "Man, I am totally screwed." she teases. She takes a drink for the road, "Well, the thing will disappear on it's own after a bit. I got a ton of those for brewing on the road."
Soan Sagittarius Oh great, Soan thinks to himself, he's going to be stuck with Helena for a little bit. Still, she's shown some... considerable non-crazy moments in these last few minutes, there. Maybe it wont be so bad.

Then again, maybe he'll stop using traps towmorrow, who knows!

"Oh, I can handle that just fine. Just, whatever you do, don't step next to me when I snap my fingers." He says, handing a card at Niklas before he goes. "Go there, that address, say Soan sent you."

This is going to be a weird journey.
