Katyna Katyna had returned briefly to Archades in order to clear her head..And in hopes of running into Riku again. She was curious after meeting him the last time, and although he was a pain in the neck, he was also interesting to talk to. Aside from that however, Katyna needed some fresh air, and some time away from the craziness of both the church and the heretics.

And so she finds herself sitting upon the same rooftop she had shared with Riku several nights again, staring up at the slowly emerging stars with a soft, tired sigh...Aah, why's life gotta be so complicated?
Evja Evja had only recently made it back to Archades. So recently that the derelict Judge hadn't even had a chance to try and make sense of things. She just wanted a safe place to sleep, one where people couldn't track her, or follow her, or threaten to kill her in her sleep, or anything of the such.

And as much as people reviled Archades for whatever reason she couldn't fathom...

It afforded the Viera a sense of peace that little else in the world could at this time.

Chocobo left at the stables Evja made her way through the Judges methods to leave the armor and a hefty payment for their repair and upkeep and briefly stopping into a healing center to receive some further medical treatment for her issues. Mostly cuts and bruises that Mickey's impromptu methods hadn't healed. But that done, before having a chance to do the typical and change into mens clothing since there were no Viera here in Archades to bother him... he just took off to the rooftops where he tended to relax away from everyone else and unwind. Though there was someone sitting on the path he normally took to his favorite spot. Landing softly a bit from where Katyna was, still dressed in his females outfit of the large cloak and veil to look quite female, Evja said softly, "Are you well or are you stuck? If you need assistance I could help you down."

Since, really... humes mostly didn't come up this high.
Katyna Katyna was pretty tired after all the stuff she'd been through, and is about to lay back and relax..When she is suddenly aware of a shadow hanging over her. "Huh..?" She blinks, peering up at the bunny judge. Oh yeah, she remembers her, kinda..Afterall, hadn't she been there when 'Ember' had kidnapped Avira, except she was fighting the heroes..And later on, Faruja had mentionned something about her being a heretic now or something.

"Oh! Heey, its you! Err...Evja, wasn't it?" She smirks and shakes her head. "Nah, I just like hanging out here, thought I might run into Rik...An old acquaintance if I did." Slowly, Katyna climbs to her feet, uncertain of what to make of the bunny. Does she come as friend or enemy? Who knows these days. Kat sure has a lot of enemies.

"soo what's up? It's been a while. Do you remember me?"
Evja "I must admit I do not."

That is all that is said when Katyna seems to know the Viera, which catches her off guard enough that she steps back a little as if worried about some kind of confrontation. "I would appreciate you not tell anyone we met here. This place is relaxing and safe, but shall not be if... others decide to ruin that semblance of peace."

It was a quiet request, and just a request, not a demand of any sort. Moving to the slanted edge of the roof Evja slowly sits down and lays out while looking a bit stiff, looking up at the sky, but noticeably not leaving herself 'open' to Katyna. Rather, not her back anyhow. Nothing personal, but not that Katyna could or would know that.

"I had come to try and relax on the roof as well. It is peaceful here. If you would rather I find some other roof somewhere I shall, I simply wished to offer you help if you needed such." Despite how she is made out to be, Evja is no vile neck-breaking backstabbing criminal thing. She's just... someone who seemingly wishes to be helpful.
Katyna Katyna makes a face. "Bah, am I that forgettable? Remember? the Party in FLuorgis? Annnd, uhh...You were there when..Umm...'Ember' kidnapped that girl Avira, remember? The Twilight Princess?"

She nods however, when he requests she keep quiet of their meeting. "Do ya mean the church? I know they were hunting you or something, according to Faruja at least.." Oh yeah, he was the friend that refused to help Hati too. Kat frowns a bit at that memory but says nothing of it.

"Ohh, you dont have to leave, I could use the company. I'm Katyna by the way, since you seem to have forgotten. Do you live here?"
Evja "..."

Thinking.
Thinking.
Ding.

"Ah... Hati's friend, yes. I recall now. And no, it is not the Church I worry about... though truth told I desire no conflict with any. So as I said, please, do not tell anyone such." a pause, "How has Hati been? I have not seen her since we last spoke in your company. Faruja told me she is doing better, or rather, told me such when we last spoke on friendly terms. And no, I live in Fluorgis. I simply enjoy coming here from time to time to... relax."
Katyna Katyna nods. "Yeah, Hati..." she sighs, "Guess it's been a while, I haven't seen her since the...Err..y'know..." Kat looks to the ground, ashamed. "Heey, you DO know who I am right? Afterall, they used you too, didnt they? That's why you fought on the side of the shadow lords..Right?"

She is curious really, although she'd been so involved in her own b attle, she had little time to focus on him. "Yeah, we managed to save Hati's life..We had to destroy that fiend though..." Kat glances slowly towards him, frowning a bit, "But...I dont understand why you didnt help us.."
Evja "Because..."

Evja spoke softly, though it was only after a bit of thought on how to say it, "I will be the executioner of no one. None..." her voice trailed off at that as she looked up at the sky. "What happened with Mercade happened against my will. I had no choice. I... I could not physically fight the order, and to this day I still cannot if forced into the situation. I would sooner kill myself than kill another without another choice... but I cannot do that regarding Mercade, because doing that would be breaking my contract. And I cannot break it."

Slowly the Viera raised her hand and stared at it before falling silent, not quite sure what else to say. She'd said this many times to others before and received nothing but hatred or anger for it, or accusations of lies. She was beginning not to even care. So close to being done caring about everything. It wasn't worth it.
Katyna Katyna's frown deepends at that. He'd explained as much before but..."ehh, I just dont understand that, afterall, the life of an undead creature isn't really a life anymore. But then..I guess I'm in no position to judge others.." She laughs nervously. "Heh, you probably heard what I did by now, right? I guess...after you've fallen so far from grace, it's nearly impossible to rise up again and pick up the pieces, isn't it?"

She seems to catch the sadness in the Viera's eyes however, tilting her head curiously, "What's this contract? Were you tricked by the shadow lords too..Like Avira..Like me? Did they force you to fight your friends?"
Evja "Nothing so grand. I am a Judge... law magic was placed upon me when I became such. Me more so than others because of my past. I was not trusted, and in order to become a Judge I had to have magic placed upon me that held me to my oaths... to upkeep the laws, to not break laws knowingly... to be unable to break the bindings upon me, so forth. Hades Contract... I offered him a single favor within the law of where I stand and where I am tasked to carry it out and... in exchange, I had a chance to win the shard of Manhattan in the tournament. I wanted to ensure that the shard was safe with someone who would use it to fix the world somehow. I knew none who were doing such so I tried to get it myself."

Still staring at her hand, the hand slowly clenched and she punched the roof beside her, quite literally cracking the tiles and nearly punching a hole through it. "And all I have ever gotten from it is hatred from so many and Hades twisting it to force me to kill a man. Apparently divine mandate supercedes the law, or is within it."
Katyna Katyna blinks. "Ooh, you're a judge, like Gabranth?" She smiles and nods. She had seen Evja in her judge armour before, quite the imposing figure. She didn't really know much about judges though, but she was starting to understand. "Wow, that's gotta be a tough life, keeping the law, forsaking your own personal feelings. As for Hades..Hmm..."

Kat frowns a bit, rubbing her chin as she thinks on that. "Then you were tricked. You tried to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. It was a noble effort. I can understand that..I would have thought others who were tricked by the Shadow Lords would understand that too.."

She glances back at her as she punches the roof and sighs, reaching out to rest a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry. I know how that feels. For people not to understand. For people to hate you, but hey! Maybe we can help each other! I'm also trying to win back the trust of my friends...."

However, when she speaks of killing someone, Katyna looks puzzled..And concerned. "You..Killed someone? But..Even inspite of the contract, weren't you able to stop yourself in the end?"
Evja Suddenly there was a hand on her shoulder! Evja blinked and turned her head to look at the hand a moment before following the hand up towards Katyna's face as if confused. "I cannot say I have any desire to try and win any over to my side. I do not understand humes or those who wander this world. In fact I cannot say I understand any. The law is the only thing that makes sense anymore. It is stable... never betraying. It is the only thing one can rely upon and feel safe with."

Hearing someone seemingly happy about Gabranth did make Evja smile a bit, though faintly, hidden mostly by the veil. "No, I have not killed Mercade Alexander yet. If Hades can force me into it despite my wording it to be within the law... then I can kill him on my own time, as he never said I had to do it within a frame. 'Your contract ends when that man is dead.' So hopefully that idiot stops screaming for me to kill him... or else I may have to."

Reaching over with the hand she had punched the roof with Evja pats lightly at Katyna's hand, lightly considering how strong the Viera seemed to be. "And not quite like Judge Magister Gabranth. He is of Archades, I am of Fluorgis. I... am a Judge who profers neutrality. He is a lawkeeper and Judge of Archades, the nations general. Jylland judges are different."
Katyna Katyna blinks slowly. "What? You dont care if people think you're the person that you're not? You dont care if people will forever condemn you and refuse to forgive you, because they couldnt be bothered to understand your difficult situation? That doesn't bother you at all?" Clearly it bothers her, mostly because she's going through a very similar thing herself.

"Hmm, how exactly does killing Mercades fit in with your law? I thought your law prohibited you from killing any living thing, even fiends, apparently. Surely there must be a loophole, like the one that turned Avira back into a human?"

She smirks. "Orr...You could always fake his death?"
Evja "Oh, it bothers me, but I have already been through it. Had idiots scream in my face I am lying, that I wanted to kill him because I was... 'too weak' or 'too scared' to fight the God of Death. That I 'chose' to do it. I am tired of trying. And there is no Law Magic upon me, from the Judges, that keeps me from killing anyone. That is... my compunction. I do not enjoy death. I would sooner kill myself. However, doing so would be trying to get out of Hades contract and the Law Magic... it keeps me from doing such."

Faking his death, though, wouldn't work. The Viera knew that. That would be an attempt on her part to get out of it, by lying, by tricking. By trying to cheat her way out of actually doing it. "I cannot." comes her response finally.
"At least, I could not participate in such a thing as I would be trying to get out of my contract rather than follow through with it. At best after he dies I could only hope someone could bring him back. There was nothing stated in regards to /staying/ dead. ...not that I think anyone would let me kill him for my sake. All they have to do is kill me, or make me unable to complete the contract, no bother to them."
Katyna Katyna sighs. "I...Dont get it. You were unable to kill Lillian, an undead...Fiend..But you went ahead and made a contract to kill a living, breathing human - and a nice guy at that?" She rubs her eyes, feeling utterly confused. "I guess you couldn't just tear up the contract and say 'to hell with it', eh? Afterall, Manhattan's been restored, and I doubt he can undo what's been done, right? But I guess, your laws wouldn't allow that either, right?"

She frowns though, when the Viera speaks of going through with her contract. "You...You're kidding, arent you? You cant go through with the contract, because once he dies, that's it. The only way you're coming back, is as an undead fiend."

Yegads, this seems a lot more complex than she initially thought. "If you want to be unable to break the contract, and are adverse to sneaky handed ways, then all you can really do is avoid Mercade as much as you can. I mean, what's the worse that Hades can do if you refuse to follow through?"
Evja "I do not think you understand." Evja sits up and rubs at her forehead, "I did not make the contract to kill him... I made the contract for a lawful favor at a later point that he could ask me of then. I did not know he... planned to do this. It is entirely possible he did not and simply did it as a spur of the moment thing for his own agenda. And no, I cannot ignore the agreement now that he has told me what he wishes. And..."

The second part, what she said regarding coming back as an undead, just made no sense. Enough that she said such. "I am not sure what you are trying to say to that but whatever it is... it is incorrect. Once he is dead the contract ends. Period. If I kill him, or if someone else does. That has nothing to do with coming back. And it is not my choice that I am unable to break it Katyna. I have said that several times."

An irritated tone in her voice she adds, "If you are not going to listen to what I have to say I will simply go elsewhere. As I said I have little patience for this subject anymore."
Katyna Katyna scratches her head, seeming..more and more confused - and frustrated by the conversation, as she learns more information that seems to complicate matters. Katyna knows little about Judge laws however. In the end, she just shrugs. "Hey, I'm listenning, just seems kinda confusing, but anyways.."

Kat frowns a bit as she ponders. "I just wanted to know why you didnt help Hati, and why you were fighting Mercade and them, but I guess you have your contract and all." She'd add more to that, but it seems that they are both misunderstanding each other, and she has no desire to escalate this further into something less than a neutral conversation.

"At any rate, while I'm here, have you seen Riku around anywhere? I know I saw him lurking about here before as if he was more at home here than elsewhere, but it's been a while. I wonder what happened after the Manhattan fiasco...I thought he was with the Shadow Lords but.."
Evja "I was willing to help her... I was not willing to go kill someone or something for her, though, not unless there was no other way. At the time none of you seemed willing to try, so I left you to your own accords and hoped for the best. Besides, right after that I got wrapped up with things. And as for Riku..."

Honestly Evja didn't even know what to make of him at this point. Wasn't even sure if she could trust the boy. Even though she protected him at Manhattan, even though he is a Judge... "I have not seem him for a bit. Last two times I saw Riku was at the restoration of Manhattan where I protected him and... during a mission from Archades for Judges, where he was assiting as a Judge."
Katyna Katyna nods slowly. "I know, you had your reasons. You wanted to help but you dont kill. Gotcha." She grins, "No worries, I guess..We all have our own laws and rules to live by. At least, in the end Hati's life was saved, even if we were unable to find another way to do it. I'm sure Hati would have wished to find another way that didnt involve killing too, but..." She shrugs.

She leans forward a bit, quite interested to hear what Evja says about Riku however. "Ooh, so he left the Shadow Lords then?" he must have, unless he was spying on the good guys, right? "Heh, so much for being leader of the Shadow Lords..But what's this about him being a judge?" Kat chuckles,

"Seriously? He's a judge? That's...An interesting line of work. But then again, maybe like you, he feels like The Law is something concrete he can understand, rather than trying to sort out all those conflicting personal feelings..."
